    For the loose tool case, I've fixed that in the past by smearing a thin coat of hot glue in the bad slots with a popsicle stick. Another option I haven't gotten around to trying yet, but may work, is gently smushing the slots tighter with a soldering gun plastic smoothing tip (like the Weller 6160).
    Thanks for lesson and the humor. Have a happy new year.

    It runs a long time on that small amount of fuel because that small engine is just idling.
    That 5.7 would eat it faster but it's most likely that the fuel went to your fuel tank on the return side. I've had it happen before.

I was able to find something but I had to order it from the states and it's good to know that I can pick up something from Crappy Tire if my situation becomes more urgent. Fortunately, I'm only getting a misfire code on one cylinder and it only happens when my wife drives it. I can drive for hours with no codes. My wife drives 30 minutes and the light comes on. Four times I've reset the MIL after she drives. New plugs and coil but no luck.

    I may do this as I have a pressure issue possibly an injector or pump issue. Ran seafoam.theought the gas tank for 1 tank no change in issue. So have done the key on-off method to pressure the fuel rail, and it starts right away. Does a seafoam induction clean and vehciel smoked for 22 minutes nice and thick and drove for 10 minutes on highway and still smoked another 5 minutes ran another round once I got back and this time it was light smoke so I'm assuming that I did well. How do I find out what the fuel pressure regulator is set at?
    The Haynes Repair Manual for the 1996 V6 Toyota Camry LE says ignition on with engine not running 38 to 44 psi, engine idling with vacuum sensing hose detached (38 to 44 psi) with it attached (30 to 36 psi), fuel system hold pressure (21 psi). Which value should I consider in pressurizing the unit, subtracting 5 psi from it?

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you leave the hose attached, 5psi less than that one. Consider plugging or pinching the return line anyway, and remove the gas cap so you don't inflate the tank by accident.

    I've had good results doing this but not nearly as good as an ultrasonic cleaning on a flow bench. The students like it better too because they get to actually see and gauge the results of the cleaning by watching and measuring the way they flow.
    I have the OTC on car master fuel injection kit with all the fittings (in my opinion, better kit than this because of the quality and the spec. book that's included for students to look up the information in). • @crasher88
    @crasher88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    the valve on the cap should be a manual pressure release valve. Just push on the top of it after you are done running the cleaner and have disconnected the air supply hose you can depress to valve and relieve the pressure in the canister and line before disconnecting the line on the fuel rail.
    And a tip on the return line system with this set up, another safety precaution is to take the gas cap off or jam a funnel into the filler neck of the caps less fill ports. This is just a precaution in case you accidentally open the pressure regulator on the rail an have 40+ psi of constant regulated pressure being pumped into the fuel tank. It it does the pressure will harmlessly vent to the atmosphere and not rupture your tank.

You are best to start the car and get it warmed up before you hook this up, so your injectors will be wide open and spraying plenty of cleaner. Your best to use a cleaner actually made for this tool. You can add seafoam to your gas tank and do the same thing you're doing. I'm just here to teach the teacher.
    I noticed your car was not running very good at first and warming it up will also solve this problem.

    • @wheater5
      @wheater5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t understand why you think the engine has to be hot. From what you posted, you seem to think that the “cold running” fuel doesn’t go through the injectors. In fact, the same injectors provide all the fuel, whether the engine is fully warmed up or not. When the engine is cold they will actually add more fuel than when hot, so they will be open longer at idle than when fully warmed up. They don’t ever “open wider”, hot or cold; the ECU only varies the length of time they are open.

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the video, I setting the regulator on the cleaning unit to about 5psi less than the fuel pressure of the vehicle. Since it is regulated here, you don't need to change the regulator on the compressor. On the red car, I used our $8000 shop air compressor. On the gray car I used my $120 portable compressor. You would want the compressor on and connected and pressurized. It's not going to push anything through until the injectors open by the computer. I don't know if you could do it on a portable 12V compressor - It's not volume of air that it needs, it's merely pressure, and 13V compressors are pretty minimal. You'd have to see if the compressor could maintain the right pressure. Good question!

    I have a dart with 538,000 kms on the original drive train, I have entertained the idea of doing what you did with your Hyundai,but the dart works great so I am reluctant to try seafoam or other additives for fear of screwing up the engine, prior to watching your tutorial, I may try now,thanks 🧰

      Seafoam (or other fuel cleaner) is pretty harmless in the fuel. It will either make a difference or it won't, there isn't much that can go wrong. Using it (or any other cleaner) as an engine flush or combustion chamber cleaner is a bit different, which comes with the risk of making things worse. Or better! (grin)
