That was fantastic to watch, Bobby, thanks for building it while we watched! Someday I will add this grail item to my collection too. For now this was fun and exciting to see!
Glad i could play a small part in helping you obtain that absolutely beautiful peice of toy history and your grail happy holidays bobby and team wish you and your families a happy new year and i look forward to what action force and valaverse as a whole has in stock for the future ❤
If I was going to pursue a Death Star playset, it would be this one. And I love opening vintage toys! I recently acquired a ROTJ Imperial Speeder Bike, MISB. And opening it was amazing! Knowing that I was the first person to lay hands on it since it was packaged in 1983 is a feeling like no other.
Great video! I hope that you use this as inspiration for a modern Action Force playset. It can be made of printed cardboard, just like this, with a few plastic parts. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just large enough for two rooms with a doorway between the two.
Dude... That is bad ass! I'd seriously consider scanning all those parts and making a replica on top of balsa wood or styrene because I'd be scared to death of displaying the original lol. This is definitely a mistake have for any vintage Star Wars fanatic collector. Congrats on the acquisition 😎👍
Miss being a kid. Thank you for the painful reminder of how old I am. Messed up mine in the first few days of having it. 40 plus years later, I still have fond memories of using my imagination while playing with this.. Something I very much lack these days.
Thanks for sharing Bobby from experience I can tell you it was my most played with toy as an 11 year old in 1978, I got it for Xmas loved it, it was the Toltoys made Death Star as I’m from Australia 🇦🇺, & I’m just about to Aquire it again from the best vintage toy shop in Australia lobo’s Collectables in Melbourne 😊
@valaverse You can definitely see all the enjoyment Bobby gets from playing with the Deathstar, which makes the video entertaining! Glad you were able to get one of your grail items! I never liked cardboard/ chipboard play sets! They always tore and broke too easily, plus when there’s multiple layers, the higher layers typically couldn’t support multiple figures for long periods of time, and would collapse. Those issues always made them very frustrating to own, and why I personally never bought too many of them. I know the price goes up when the sets are made of plastic, or other materials, but I always preferred the sturdier materials on play sets! I would love to see a multi layer Action Force base play set, as well as other sets get into the line! But since I personally would want to see them made in plastic or stronger materials than cardboard, I think the price of the sets, especially for 1/12 scale, might just be too expensive to justify the purchase! Would still love to see one! Love the sets you’ve built for displays at cons!
I had this when I was a kid, best toy ever ,bought back memories. Took me ages to realise the door opens to the trash compactor so figures could escape
Bobby I would be scaried of the way the box lookedon the outside. I don't know if i would taken the change to buy one in that condition of the outside of the box. But I am glad you got one.🤩🤩🤩
I love how nervous this video is making me right now…The name of this episode should be “Please Bobby, don’t break this $#!T” Gotta be careful when you’re building a playset made out of cardboard that’s as old as you are huh? Some real, “ do I cut the blue wire, or the red wire?” Vibes…
“I’ve gotta be super Ginger with this thing”?!?! Bobby, why do you have do be a Ginger?! Keep your bloody soul man! It’s not worth giving your soul for.
I used to have this back in the day - best xmas present ever as a kid when i got it in '78, regret selling my vintage stuff many years later with original packaging Still kept my Action Force cardboard playset though.
This is my last grail piece I have to get. Being Aussie, I want the Toltoys Death Star. The olds actually bought it for me twice when I was a kid, lol. Could've got it for $500 boxed pre-covid. But passed. Now I see it north of a grand, oof...
You should take 3D scans of the playset just in case something terrible would happen. Those old cardboard playset were so cool from back in the day. With modern technology you think someone should be able to recreate that playset.
Why hasnt someone done a remake of this set? It boggles my mind that hasbro hasnt make something like this. Playmates would have made one of these for each version of the turtles
I still own this playset. Though like most a few tears, and the canopy and guns are missing. I always thought the Palitoy looked better than the US version which I don't think ever reached Australia. I wish someone would re-release this made out of solid plastics with improvements like an elevator and yeah the US weapon was more suitable.
But it does look super cool and it would make for a cool place that it was made of plastic just like the missile command centre for G.I. Joe the cobra base if it was made in plastic and had a better layout and was bigger.
Wouldn't be hard to make an Action Force play set like this, using plastic instead of cardboard, of course. Stick with the artwork idea to make manufacturing simple. You could make it modular and have different sets that could be combined to make larger structures. Since the price would be a lot lower, I think people would buy things like this to display their collections. Do it...
@Valaverse the UK one is awesome and a rare find. But as a toy the Kenner Death Star is clearly superior. It's made out of plastic not cardboard. It also features the retractable light bridge the gun turret the elevator and the crank handled trash compactor, complete with monster. Plus it's the one I grew up with. So there is admittedly a soft spot. But it's really awesome that this version is totally intact and that you have it in your possession. Enjoy bro. And remember. Grown men don't play with dolls. We interact with action figures 😉👍
I wasn't as big of a Star Wars guy growing up as I was GI Joe and Transformers but I can certainly appreciate finding and enjoying the feels of assembling a personal grail. Happy Holidays Valaverse! 🌲
it would be super cool if it was made in plastic because I hate cardboard just because cardboard is too flimsy and it brakes fast or damages way too easy plastic seems to last a lot longer
Is this the best playset ever made?
Absolutely, positively, most definitely, 100 per-cent for sure.
oh?
Yes! It is! It’s the centre piece of my Star Wars collection.
It's definitely an awesome piece. But I personally prefer the Kenner Death Star
It's tied with the vintage Action Force headquarters cardboard playset for me.
BOTH of which I'd love to see replicated for 3.75" AND 6" versions.
That was fantastic to watch, Bobby, thanks for building it while we watched! Someday I will add this grail item to my collection too. For now this was fun and exciting to see!
Had one of these when I was a kid, one of my most played with Star Wars items, absolutely loved it
It’s a brilliant toy. Worthy of a grail imo. Actually simple but so amazing. ❤ grats on your pick up
This thing is nuts. That compactor feature is fantastic.
It really is right!?
Congrats on acquiring it. Wish they still made stuff like that. More complicated build than I thought. Enjoy it

Congrats Bobby, that is an awesome piece! Love the artwork and colours
Thats how i know its Saturday, another video for the drive home.
Ha! Love the consistency!

Red Shadows factory cardboard playset, make it happen Bobby!
Miss being a kid. Thank you for the painful reminder of how old I am. Messed up mine in the first few days of having it. 40 plus years later, I still have fond memories of using my imagination while playing with this.. Something I very much lack these days.
That there is my holy grail piece. Congrats and awesome vid.
It’s such a product of its time! So much character to it. Things like this just don’t get made anymore. So much play value.

Seeing this is so awesome, thank you for sharing this once in a lifetime opportunity!
This is making me nervous just watching Bobby put it together 😆
Great video and playset Bobby! I enjoyed watching you put it together.
Had it as a kid, my Grandpa bought it for me.. I loved this toy, played with it till it fell apart. The best star wars playset
That looks like so much fun!!
Great video. Fun to watch. Thanks
I had this when I was a kid, best toy ever ,bought back memories. Took me ages to realise the door opens to the trash compactor so figures could escape
This is the first time I’ve ever seen this player get fully assembled. Really cool to see. Also reminds me of the Extreme sets that they sell now.
Lucky!!!! That set is absolutely amazing.
Bobby I would be scaried of the way the box lookedon the outside. I don't know if i would taken the change to buy one in that condition of the outside of the box. But I am glad you got one.🤩🤩🤩
Great Job Bobby!
Very Awesome Bobby....nice....
We used to use that Kenner death star tower as an arms cannon
Oh yea!? I love stories like this!
@Valaverse there was some B sci Fi movie where a guy finds an alien arm weapon. We would run around pretending we had that alien weapon
It's bigger than I imagined it would be.
Giggity.
Need to display that thing on a turn table!

Nice set!! 🔥
That was a fun watch. Thank you. Cheers
You should totally make a replica version of that from aluminum or sheet metal! Or you could scan and 3D print one in plastic.
I was thinking about a printed version. Lol
I used to have this back in the day - best xmas present ever as a kid when i got it in '78, regret selling my vintage stuff many years later with original packaging Still kept my Action Force cardboard playset though.
We need Action Force/Swarm playsets in this style 😁
It would be SO awesome to have on a slow rotating turntable, fully decked out with figures!
This is my last grail piece I have to get. Being Aussie, I want the Toltoys Death Star. The olds actually bought it for me twice when I was a kid, lol. Could've got it for $500 boxed pre-covid. But passed. Now I see it north of a grand, oof...
Yeah, it's a tough one!
Omg I’ve got one of these at home, mate gave it to me. I need to build it now
I would have loved to have had this playset growing up. I lived in Germany in the 80’s but sadly never say any Palitoy releases.
What a beauty
Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station!
You should take 3D scans of the playset just in case something terrible would happen. Those old cardboard playset were so cool from back in the day. With modern technology you think someone should be able to recreate that playset.
Hell. Yes.🔥
“WE GOT DEATHSTAR! WE GOT DEATHSTAR!”
I got the Australian Toltoys version for my 9th birthday and still own it today. 🇦🇺
A friend of mine had this when i was young. I wished they would have combined them.
The bridge and the trash compactor actually compacting did it for me.
Awesome. Yeah if I had to say grail this would be one. Just an awesome toy.
i've got one of those, not in the best condition but still proud to have one
Glad you fixed the typo! 😅
What?
You fixed the typo in the title of the video. "Palatoy".
Amazing your grandfather must be proud you found a toy at your age
It is in great shape,
Why hasnt someone done a remake of this set? It boggles my mind that hasbro hasnt make something like this. Playmates would have made one of these for each version of the turtles

You could rig some led lights on it too.
You need to get the sacred KraGel to make sure it lasts forever
Please make upcoming Action Force one in plastic . No cardboard , no stickers .
Please, please , please !🙏
But it does look super cool and it would make for a cool place that it was made of plastic just like the missile command centre for G.I. Joe the cobra base if it was made in plastic and had a better layout and was bigger.
its pretty much the only thing that survived my youth. its still in my basement. Meccano version

Do it...
Good data. You need better lighting. Awesome plat set. It’s looking much more fun than the tower. Thank you for your content.
This is what HeroQuest could have been.
This is awesome. I had the American version of the death Star as a child. I hate to say it. But it kind of blows this one away
Oh? You like that one more?

McFarlane made a big cardboard playset for his new Lord of the Rings action figures.
I wonder how that is selling?
it would be super cool if it was made in plastic because I hate cardboard just because cardboard is too flimsy and it brakes fast or damages way too easy plastic seems to last a lot longer
If you don't have the money to buy it then everything can be a Grail
Vastly superior to ours. And for what it’s worth, nine times out of ten palitoy has superior box art on just about anything.
Thats no moon. It's a space station
