One of the reasons for the power window switches being on the console is they don't have to provide door switches, just the master switch.

As I watched you use the 'serious' forklift to get those top pallets down, I was thinking that it wasn't that long ago that you started the $1 warehouse sales just to get rid of the used items mostly from storage lockers...wow what a journey!

That difference in potential sales is well worth the extra employee's addition to the payroll. Plus it will free up yourself and Tim to continue in your respective duties which means even more potential sales increases. And as an added bonus a reduction in stress.

You ended before we got the totals for the day and the totals for the whole sale. ☹️Because you are closing on your house on a Monday and ( your head and heart will be in getting it redone to your and Mrs Rabbit’s vision) it maybe weeks before we know the results. Also, not the outside front, but can we see before and after for inside of your new home? We don’t need furniture, but would enjoy painting, new fixtures, lighting, flooring. Congratulations on your home purchase. We truly hope to that it fulfills your hopes and dreams. 😀you have worked very hard for a long time-it is time for a reward.

Actually glad to hear you want a dedicated warehouse sale employee, I've been thinking you should do that. Figure it would be much easier if someone really had the time to sort things out by type and box it with the price range you want it out during written on the side. Not to mention someone having the time to hang clothing, help stock and clean up during the sale, etc

Maybe you should have a dedicated table for people to sit stuff they no longer want? That way they won't just leave it in those buckets in the back, and you could periodically take the stuff off the table and return it to its home

I worked for Jeep for a couple years. If you put the switch in the door its not just one wire it would be a wiring harness that would have to go into the door. For safety purposes plus they would have to add an easy way to disconnect the wire harness but prevent an open circuit error when the doors are off and harness disconnected. If you have to disconnect the harness every time you take the doors off it could cause problems with people breaking the plug which would cause an issue because people would say its a manufacturing problem that the plug broke. I would also think the door would be a lot heavier and more difficult for some people to disconnect and carry the door to store it.

It would drastically cut down on lost/ hidden stock out the back that doesn't make it to the sales floor on the intended $ day. Not to mention it gives someone else an income. Invest in more stacking totes like the Office Depot ones or the plastic chip boxes. Then sorting by price and department is easier to stack on pallets.
For casepack just organize for possible pallet sales or layering pallets for racking.
Keep buying racking to maximize all that new space.

Nice video's about the sale, just missing the end results? I think you are absolutely right about the sorting-thing. If it looks more organized, people also feel they are getting better worth for their money, and they wil find the stuf they are interested in! Curious about the video(s) for the summer-sale!! Some of the growth is also down to greater variety, when you have a lot of space taken up with lights and bedsheets in one sale and the next you have massive variety then the transaction value grows. I think you have the mic of products nailed now, the growth will come from better display the gaylord's are took deep with a lot of items missed these would be better in smaller boxes on the racking, and maybe using a bigger space for the sale to get more people inside as the more you can sell on the higher value days means you are not selling it cheaper on following days.

Organization is extremely important and the key to selling items. There's nothing worse than digging through a box/etc with too many different kinds of things that aren't even related. I think it's great to hire a person dedicated to warehouse. Men and women think differently and having a woman on board I think is a very smart move. Right now with the virus I think it's holding back on your sales since you can't have as many people inside at the same time. That really puts a damper on things.

All that rented space above and not utilized I'm just kidding, as an electrician I work on distribution centers that have forklifts automated BTW they run on a single train rail, they'll go up 10 stories to pull a pallet for you. Anyway that forklift is highly sought after and a good one. So good decision keeping it,always remember turn off or tighten the valve when done using.

I like your analyzing (about 50 min in). Numbers are sooooo important : D
Yes! less mess, stuff organized and sorted like with like is soooo good for costumer flow ( extra important now when the amount of ppl in a store is limited). A neater "shop" is better for amount of sold items AND for reputation. People are talking and comparing and to have a neat store is always a good thing. A good word spread by happy costumers is a huge help : ) and it´s freeeee.
To have everything sorted provides stuff from being forgotten in the far depth of the warewouse ; ) and stuff will get out the right "dollar day", all planning and the practical work to set up for a sale gets easier and will give more money.
I think you definately will get more profit from having one more person and to put that person on the warehouse sales.
One other thing... As you know, one specific item can be a big "hit" one day in one sale and make that day soooo different in numbers from the others. If there is such an item on one of the days you compare you might want to have that special item in mind. Like the mens underwear on 1 dollar day, the weighted blankets aso... Just this One really good item (loads of it) can change a whole day : D
And... Have you concidered when in the month you´re having the sales? Regarding when people get payed? As I understand alot of people get payed every second week in the US, right? So it might be a bit different for you than for us. Here it´s paytime the 25:th every month or if the 25 is on a weekend it´s on the friday before.
What month it is could also be important. For us to have something like this, it makes a HUGE difference what week we choose and we would not choose january/early february ever. People are broke after christmas and all "yearly bills". January paychecks are going towards bills... Same thing with other activities and if people are queing outside, the weather. It´s more important how the weather is in the morning and what the forecast say than how it comes out during the day...

    • @ResaleRabbit
      @ResaleRabbit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I appreciate the insight! For what it’s worth, it’s common in the US to get paid every 2 weeks, but it can be any schedule. Running the sale over the course of 2 weeks should cover everyone’s payday. We also do try to plan around certain months to maximize sales.

  • @iman48

RR, I attended a warehouse sale similar to yours, years ago, and they snaked you through the warehouse in lanes with ample room to pass the person in front of you, but the line moved pretty fast. They had merchandise on both sides, in boxes and just on tables, this method may facilitate speed, in and out. You could route them all around within your pallet area as long as they are confined in the queue. Just a thought.

I worked retail for years. There are a certain %age of people that no matter how much you explain to them, whether its directions, what to do, what you sell; either don't listen, don't comprehend or a just plain...MORONS !

Great video... the reason the switches are on the dash is to keep them dry.. most people run the jeeps with windows open in the summer.. / well mudding & so on... on another note... have you thought about installing a LOUD buzzer...with a few doorbell type buttons in the warehouse..then you can even set a certain amount of buzzes fir each of the workers... I installed a few systems like that and they work great..because that noise travels pretty far.. just a thought... keep up the great work

Totally agree that you should hire someone to organize for the sales. I think you will make more sales and that person can help sort out the good eBay things and maybe identify things that can be palletized and sold in bigger loads. That Home Depot stuff has to be less desirable for your customers.

The sale when you had covid. Numbers could be lower due to peoples income being stretched due to shutdowns and job security

More apt to be the other way around. People are taking "cheap" options. Just visit your local DG/Dollar Tree and you will see they are busy...

I think that sale was just bad because we were so understaffed while I was gone.

Funny, as by coincidence, literally as we speak, they're tearing down our humongous East Town mall to build an equally humongous new Amazon DC.

Maybe get a dog training collar and then they can call you back when you stray off. It would get your attention. ;)

Alexa might work if you have some connected to speakers! I have an intercom we use at the warehouse connected to the phones.

I drive my jeep with the window open all the time, so the switches are always getting wet in the rainy weather, so being in the middle is good.

Hey man No insult here. They want to keep the weight of the door down to ease removal. They are trying to cut as much weight as possible. The more cumbersome the removal the less attractive removable doors are as a selling point.
Have a great day , !!! You silly wabbit!!

I was thinking about your dilemma with people standing in line to get into the sale during inclement weather. Have you ever thought about the old take a number things. People would take a number and when their number flashed they presented their number and got in. This way you could wait in their car or sit under a tree. I know I have loved that as I have difficulty standing. Anyway, just a thought. Debra

The strobe lights would work if you hire someone with a hearing disability as a temp for warehouse days. Lots of orgs looking for contracts for their clients.

In fact systems like that probably exist for the hearing impaired.

Do you use all those random rooms in the warehouse? If not. You should ask your landlord if you can knock all those walls down and have it 100% open in the back so you have more storage room. Could also expand the sale floor?

I kinda like having the patricians. It helps me stay organized. One room for processing, one room for sales, one room for storage, and one room for personal items (like the camper).

If you take the driver door off the jeep and leave the other doors on, if the switches were on the door, you'd no longer be able to roll down the 3+ other windows (without slumping over to the other side)
Switches in the middle mean you can still control all doors even if the one you're sitting at is removed
    jeep owners are wacky bro
