  • Here's one thing every PS4 user needs to know about.. How to fix PS4 Controller drift easy! PS4 controller "stick drift" is a very common problem. Doing this fixed it instantly! Here's how.. I show you step by step how to fix analog stick drift on your Playstation 4 controller! This is a known issue on PS4 DualShock analog sticks.. But most PS4 users don't know that you can actually fix stick drift! Watch this and see.. First you can take apart your Playstation 4 controller and then take off the analog stick, then use a screwdriver to open the PS4 controller analog stick module and then remove the sensor wheels. You can then clean or replace them easy! Once complete, you can re-assemble your Playstation 4 controller.
You can get replacement PS4 controller thumbsticks & sensor wheels from Amazon by using the link below..

It's really simple. I've done this twice now and I've only had to worry about the ribbon cable sliding back in place in between the top gap. (That part is a pain, if you don't have tweezers to fish it through.)
Anyway, I haven't had drift for almost a year now. It's the best fix other then buying a new controller. I'd recommend making a step by step guide as you go, so you can put it all back from reverse.

As an alternative to Q-Tips, which are prone to leaving tiny cotton threads behind, I recommend also having Proxabrush teeth cleaning brushes in your toolkit. They are tiny pipe-cleaner like sticks, made to clean between teeth as an alternative to dental floss, and can be found wherever one purchases dental products. They also come in different sizes and are extremely handy for cleaning between small parts.

Cheers for this. For the viewer: careful with the axis sensors, they are *so* fiddly. Was sure I screwed up somewhere between peeling them out and shoving them back in. I didn't (apparently), but nor did I manage to fix my problem -- not surprised, it's a tiny drift. Regardless, thanks for showing us the stick assembly in detail.

I just set the little buggers to soak in a blob of alcohol gel for a bit, and then rolled them around in a wet paper towel, rinsed them off in the sink under pressure for good measure, and then dried them completely with a can of air. Yah, he is right it does work because I did what he said and now both sticks work. although I had another controller that was brand new practically and some reason it has a lot of ware and tare on the sensor and what's more strange is it looked pretty new inside I'm not sure if it is the metal things that was defective and was scraping the sensor or what, but I'm glad I got one controller fixed. Be careful not accidentally bend plastic to much because when you squeeze the sensor thing shut there is a part sticks out that has to go back in and if it ain't lined up correctly then you may accidentally damage it. Just another reminder for anyone who needs it. Thanks to the guy who made this video.

This works. I had to look all over the internet, when I first started fixing my stick drift. This video is spot on. Just clean the effected sensor wheel. I made a step by step guide, so I could put it all back together in order as I went. After cleaning my sensor wheel everything has been good for almost a year now. It works normally. 👍
Also, be careful with the ribbon cable. It's a pain to fish back through the gap in the plastic without tweezers. The first time is harder, because the ribbon is so stuck in place. It can be pulled out, so don't be scared of it. It needs to be pulled out. It can be slide back in to reconnect it. (It's harder to talk about it now, but you'll get it.) 🙂

    • @shehab1414

A good way to put the ribbon back through the plastic,
Tape, make it narrower, stick it to the ribbon, then the tape is easier to out into the plastic hole
Then pull it from other side
Take the tape off, and ur done
      This really helped me.

I just spray contact cleaner inside the analog stick and rotate them a couple of times. Repeated it for 3 to 4 times. Worked great for both my dualshock 4 and dualsense controllers since they were just dirty inside.

I did this with spray on rubbing alcohol, just sprayed into the joystick port rubbed it around a few times and then used a hairdryer to evaporate it. For those reading (keep your controller off)

just be super careful with all the parts and take your time
this absolutely works just saved me 60-70 bucks good stuff

I'm quite sure the dualsense uses the same potentiometer, so this could apply there too. I've had my Ps5 since launch and haven't suffered stick drift yet. But a couple of my mates have.

Yeah that's was an issue with a lot go dualsense controllers. But that problem has been fixed by Sony now. They started releasing newly fixed ones some time back, you can tell by looking at the model name.

@@aadityachavan6836 I got one of the new controllers after getting a replacement because the last one had stick drift. Currently, the right stick is getting *really* sensitive, and ends up looking like it's trying to aim at people through walls because it's skipping around at the slightest touch. Not drifting (yet), but it does have its problems.

@@-ktb-_-btk-4373 look at the back of the controller and spot the fcc ID, if it ends in '1A' then it's the controller where they've fixed the problem
