  • Just do you know, a LOT of stoplight. I mean, A LOT!
Indianapolis, often shortened to Indy, is the state capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Indiana and the seat of Marion County. According to 2019 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the consolidated population of Indianapolis and Marion County was 886,220. The "balance" population, which excludes semi-autonomous municipalities in Marion County, was 876,384. It is the 17th most populous city in the U.S., the third-most populous city in the Midwest, after Chicago, Illinois and Columbus, Ohio, and the fourth-most populous state capitol after Phoenix, Arizona, Austin, Texas, and Columbus. The Indianapolis metropolitan area is the 34th most populous metropolitan statistical area in the U.S., with 2,048,703 residents. Its combined statistical area ranks 28th, with a population of 2,431,361. Indianapolis covers 368 square miles (950 km2), making it the 16th largest city by land area in the U.S.
Indigenous peoples inhabited the area dating to approximately 2000 BC. In 1818, the Delaware relinquished their tribal lands in the Treaty of St. Mary's. In 1821, Indianapolis was founded as a planned city for the new seat of Indiana's state government. The city was platted by Alexander Ralston and Elias Pym Fordham on a 1-square-mile (2.6 km2) grid next to the White River. Completion of the National and Michigan roads and arrival of rail later solidified the city's position as a manufacturing and transportation hub.Two of the city's nicknames reflect its historical ties to transportation-the "Crossroads of America" and "Railroad City". Since the 1970 city-county consolidation, known as Unigov, local government administration operates under the direction of an elected 25-member city-county council headed by the mayor.

I loved Indy when I was there. Around 2013. Those solar panels around the airport… I was a part of that project. Great times. Thanks for the video!!
There was a great little bar called the Slippery Noodle that had bands all the time. Loved going there.

That big city is one of the cleanest downtowns in the Midwest if not 1. I lived there 2 years spent all my time around the downtown area, and fountain square area, and little flower area, and speedway it the 16th largest city its fraking BIG!!. The people are very generous lots of nice bars, clubs, parks, and stores. The war monument with the tall statue is the biggest in Usa.stste of the art bus system, train, and airport is the easiest to enter and exit with the new system. look how clean it is everywhere, and surrounding areas too. I don't know what the fake media is talking about tho! Indy is not a dangerous city.

Lived in Indy until 2008. Downtown looked the same except for a number of boarded up stores, probably due to the Covid shutdown. IUPUI has really changed, for the better, with some nice landscaping. Compared to your drives of other midwest cities, some things I noticed about downtown Indy - it has lots of greenspaces - the mall between Meridian and Pensylvania, Military Park, White river state park, quite a few trees and a lot of pedestrian overpasses. And there's really nothing like Monument Circle with its fountains and brick streets, great place to eat lunch on a summer day.
