Hi, thank you very much for this brief but very informative video. I have a question though. Are we supposed to increase the frequency of using this product in time or do we need to stick to twice a week?
Stick to 2 x a week, no more than 3x that is plenty of exfoliation. You can start including a retinol/Vitamin A in your routine which you would use on alternative nights :)
Irritation, I personally use glycolic & lactic acid with niacinamide and it doesn't cause me any problems, same for vitamin c and niacinamide. however I think you shouldn't mix vitamin C with tretinoin or retinols ( I could be wrong) but If my memory doesn't fail me It's better not to mix these 2.
You can actually, Azelaic acid is known to be not very irritating, in the first 2 to 4 weeks of you first using it gonna give you a picking NOT BURNING sensation that goes away after about 5 min, and this goes away as you get used to the product. Azelaic acid and niacinamide are a goood duo, I use them together and they work really well for me ( M oily and acne prone btw, my acne is under control tho). And another fun fact, azelaic acid can be mixed with anything as long as you tolerate it, it's something (azelaic acid) that is made by Malassezia ( a yeast that lives on ALL HUMANS SKIN) and it is found in some wheat produce. so yeah the only caveat is that you gonna know your skin ease your way into the products, and listen to your skin.
I also thought it would be better to use on damp skin because the product would absorb into the skin faster. This is why retinol can’t be used on damp skin because it may cause irritation and sun screen can’t be used on damp skin because it’s supposed to sit at the top of the skin. Idk, I’m still scared about using this on dry skin with HA present in the product because if there is no water on the skin, the HA will take the moisture already present in the skin and make it drier.
Thank you, a very helpful video. My question is- can I store lactic acid serums in the fridge? I've been doing so due to the extremely hot summer but not sure if this will reduce the serum's potency.
Hi, Thanks for the video But I have a question I just do my research some web saying it is advised to apply Niacinamide after using Lactic Acid to ensures the acid can work at exfoliating whilst niacinamide restores hydration back into the skin barrier. But some videos that I watched including you saying not to mix it with Niacinamide Which one is the right one ?
No niacinamide should not be applied after any exfoliating aha/bha this includes lactic acid :) The acid will work by itself - ensure you apply to a cleansed face but dry skin :) moisturiser after
Personally I have seen amazing results using lotions containing zinc oxide on my dry and very sensitive skin, it may sound strange but butt creams with zinc are some of the best, I highly recommend it!
I use Cerave Moisturising Cream for Dry Skin in my face, the pot of 454 G is pretty cheap and have the recomendation of the National Eczema Asociation and ceramides, this make a really improve in my very dry skin. I wet my fingers and apply only a ball in green bean size.
Heyy i love your videos can you please tell me if i can use this I'm currently 20 years old and i haven't used any chemical exfoliant before I don't have any acne on my face but yeah i surely do have dullness on my face is this suitable??
I would only use a serum that is formulated with multiple acids, not try and apply multiple exfoliating acid serums in one or layer them. So if you are using the ordinary, choose 1
simple routine that i can suggest: morning: wash your face + on a damp skin use your hyaluronic acid serum wait for it to dry completely then use Vita C (wait for it to absorb) and follow by your sunscreen. night: wash your face, you can actually mix Niacinamide and azelaic acid, i use them together and MUAH masterpiece + moisturizer. so the morning routine it gonna stay the same all week long, for the night routine you gonna use it for 2 nights and on the 3rd you gonna exfoliate, using the glycolic acid, just wash your face, dry it, use Glycolic acid, and moisturizer. and that's it
with brightening hyperpigmentation left over yes, with acne deep scars no - you would need to use Vitamin A, B and C and get a series of advanced skin treatments like microneedling done.
How long have you had it for? It should have the expiry on the bottle so you know when to chuck out and replace. Also make sure to purchase from reputable companies x
Depending on the severity of your acne scars or if it's just hyperpigmentation left over. Acne scars are very deep within the skin, and will require advanced skin treatments like micro needling done by a professional. A good routine with Vitamin A can help, but most likely you will require a series of skin treatments to break down the scarring. Best to get a skin consult from a professional :)
Hey Leilah, micellar water needs to be used as a first cleanse followed by a cleanser. It needs to be removed from the skin, it should not be used as a toner. If you use it correctly, remove it from your skin then yes you can use a lactic acid serum in your routine xx
There are many ingredients that can help hyperpigmentation. Lactic acid is great for hyperpigmentation when it comes to choosing an exfoliating acid. Vitamin C, Retinol, Niacinamide are also beneficial. It will depend on the type of pigmentation and cause x
Yes, however exfoliating daily is way to much for the skin and especially if you also use retinol in your routine. 2 x per week is plenty for exfoliating unless you have acne. Over exfoliating causes issues to your skin’s acid mantle x
Lactic acid should be used alone at night on clean and dry skin. Use moisturizer after it dries. Never use retina with lactic acid. But you can use retina on other nights. Both retina and lactic acid mildly exfoliate the skin. So use lactic acid once a week and retina 3 times a week. Too much products can damage your skin barrier..go slow and don't forget ur spf daily
Can i use this with broken capillaries on my cheeks .as i feel im missing out on exfoliating..so would this be mild enough maybe 1 times a week 5 percent ...and if so will i see results x
I use ha everyday, If i use Lactic Acid once a week for exfoliation, do I have to use my HA again for that session or do I leave it out and use it on the next session? And do I use the lactic acid day and night during the exfoliation day

Does Paula’s choice AHA/BHA Contain lactic acid?
Hi, thank you very much for this brief but very informative video. I have a question though. Are we supposed to increase the frequency of using this product in time or do we need to stick to twice a week?
Stick to 2 x a week, no more than 3x that is plenty of exfoliation. You can start including a retinol/Vitamin A in your routine which you would use on alternative nights :)
If you use any other type of exfoliant, chem or physical, once a week is enough w this.
Do we need to refrigerate these serums or room temperature is just fine ?
What are the reasons for not using niacinamide, retinol, or Vitamin C after/along with lactic acid?
Irritation, I personally use glycolic & lactic acid with niacinamide and it doesn't cause me any problems, same for vitamin c and niacinamide.
however I think you shouldn't mix vitamin C with tretinoin or retinols ( I could be wrong) but If my memory doesn't fail me It's better not to mix these 2.
Thanks for your reply. Can I use this with Cerave hydrating cleanser and the Cerave moisturizer as well if I decide to use this instead? Thanks 😁
Yes you won’t need to use lactic acid daily though, 2-3 x per week is plenty :)
@@SkinZoneTV 👍👍
Can i use lactic acid and after 10minutes application of azelaic acid 10% booster by paula's choice?

Hello . I’m turning 20 in January.
Is it safe to use lactic acid on my skin? Should I use this?
Hello yes 2 x a week is plenty :) xx
Can you use the hyaluronic before and then Lactic acid?
Start with lactic before then hyaluronic to lock in the moisture
Thank you for clarifying to use it on dry skin. I thought HA had to be used on wet skin so I was confused
Generally yes for hyaluronic acid, but exfoliating acids to be applied to dry skin :) x
Dear how can we order ??
I also thought it would be better to use on damp skin because the product would absorb into the skin faster. I would think so. Combination skin is classified as sensitive skin.
