Desert Chase is my favorite score from this film, and probably tops my favorite film scores in total. The emotion shown, especially the change in pace and tone at , 4:04 just gives me chills!
4:16 The way Ford kicks the door, grunts and shifts back to the wheel is one of my favorite parts. His athleticism during the plane fight always had me in awe as a kid as well. Ford was made to play Indiana Jones.
When they record it they have to Time it to the Film as well. Difference is they of course have several takes and only do each Scene at a Time not the whole Film at once. So yeah its very impressive
This bone chilling, edge of your seat orchestral music was what really made this scene play out so successfully. I wouldn't know how well Raiders of the Lost Ark would have done on the big screen if not for the orchestral music. Everything sounds so good from start to finish. Awesome indeed! 🎵👍
To quote Steven Spielberg “Without John Williams, bikes don’t really fly, nor do brooms in Quidditch matches, nor do men in red capes. There is no Force, dinosaurs do not walk the Earth, we do not wonder, we do not weep, we do not believe” Music is everything! Everything is everything in film, not just acting, sounds, music, directors, writers, all these magical components must work in harmony and together! That’s the beauty of film!
The gradual increase in tempo with lots of percussion and horns makes this scene very dramatic. One of my favs I was so looking forward to at this concert.
@@kthx1138 Going from Heroic to Suspenseful as soon he gets shot! John Williams is a genius! One minute you're thinking "Yeah, Get em Indy!" To "Oh,no!"
One of the best chase scenes ever filmed! But in the strictest sense it wasn’t a chase scene at all. And none of it was directed by Spielberg. It was all done by his second unit director. The man should’ve gotten an award for the work he did. Outstanding!
@@jedichocccake Actually, that was Harrison Ford being dragged behind the truck. lol The stunt double did the scene where Indy is underneath the truck and hanging by the undercarriage, but that's actually Harrison Ford in the shots where Indy is being dragged behind the truck while hanging on by the bullwhip.
I love this scean, because I love how Indy took control of the truck and how he rode that beautiful white horse well done dr. Jones and good luck to Harssion Ford in his last movie I give him love, respect, and credit for all the years he had in all movies! Good luck to him
Ive seen a looney tunes, a Jurassic park and an empire strikes back presentation with orchestra. Usually these tracks are recorded one at a time in 10-15 minute spurts in studio. Doing the entire movie in one go is quite difficult and demands a lot of experience and precision.
I went to a similar event in Atlanta a few years ago put on by Turner Classic Movies. They showed Casablanca with a live orchestra providing the soundtrack. It was a magical evening.

Yeah, what the hell was thar? It did sound like "Don't let me down... DON'T". After that there were grunts while he was being dragged that I've never heard.
Gotta love the way the Nazi driver sticks his head out for Indy to kick it, only to be outdone by Johnny right before Karate Kid delivers his crane technique kick lol That said, no chase scene has thrilled me more. That repeating musical phrase gives me the sense that Indy's actions here are a process, it speeds up to a climax, then gives way to our main Indiana Jones theme. That's John Williams, master composer.
One of the interesting things about these is that you get to see a unique version of the film with no music track, which brings out certain details. For example, I had never before noticed that Indy laughs at 2:55 when he knocks the over the motorcyclist.

This Is OMG Freaking Amazing To Watch The Orchestra Band Play Live While The Movie Is Playing Is Off The Hook No Doubt About It
This movie is like candy to me!
In my opinion, the greatest action sequence in movie history.
I bet few people in the audience realize just how difficult it is to time the music with the film LIVE rather than in editing.
When they record it they have to Time it to the Film as well. Difference is they of course have several takes and only do each Scene at a Time not the whole Film at once. So yeah its very impressive
The conductor also has a screen in front of him with time markers so he knows which beats to hit.
