Rounding the corner of the door to match windows ⚒️

- We finally found the junked 1950 Ford that our friend told us about so we're here in the woods with a reciprocator saw to cut the door tops off then we're heading back to the shop to apply them. Once they're applied, we're going to round off the corner of the door to eliminate how square it looks

Big thumb's up for the nice man donating those pieces, saved those doortops nicely.
Right On every helping hand counts. He's on film so everyone that watch knows who donated there time and parts.
Hello Team Hiltz you are really making good progress on the build. Chad you are doing a great job of showing us all the work that must be done to actually complete the roof chop. you have so much that needs to be done to match the inner body to the new roof angle and length. Nate is also welding new pieces in place and finishing welding the cat walk so much time goes into welding. It is good to have another talented welder in the house! Doug is really making it possible to take this one to paint without increasing the timeline drastically. The fact that he can be sanding the car while Chad and Nate are welding and grinding makes a big difference. Jolene you are doing a great job as always and you make the whole show possible. Fina was hard at it inspecting the grounds and keeping out a watchful eye until her break time came around!
I wanted to let Chad and the crew know what a real difference they have made every night through the worst Christmas I have ever had. It has been a pleasure to watch this chop top come to life day by day, and the elegance and style and love that is put into it. ❤❤ Thank you so much.
Maybe chad should send him a shirt and a hat.. he really helped the build..dont be cheap to someone who helped you...some people would o ly sell you the whole car...thing about all the presents you got for x mas.....
Nothing like sparking up your steering wheel and dash panel while welding and grinding.... Sweet
I was watching yesterday and I really believe Jolene has earned her chops in the way she has mastered filming and it truly shows....way to go GIRL
Good choice getting the door tops much better and in the long run less work. Hi Doug and Nate great video work Jolene. Hi Fina good girl. Really liking the way it's turning out so far. ❤😂
Yeah, she is taking it serious not taking it easy!
This is going to really look great! Amped up the mild style beautifully. Damn, I LIKE the exposed hinges!
That was a smart move you made by not cutting the back window and the way you merged it back onto the roof and blended it in with the rear deck. I saw you do it, I saw the result of putting it back together, but only when Junkyard John mistakenly said that you had shortened the back window did the your-expertise truly hit me. I like the the interaction between you, Doug and Nathan, it adds another interest to your videos and gives them a source of income. Keep them coming. I was surprised that you walked away from the old car at Junkyard Johns. You must have seen more rust than the rest of us.
On the belt sander buy 3mmm belts, part number 33445 . Works great for welds
I really like the videos I was wondering do you read the comments
Awesome when you can find bits local and from such great giving people!
Piece cut off corner should fit post corner, just saying
The rounded door top looks alot better now. I'm loving this build. You all are doing great work. And absolutely love that everyone is getting along and works so well. Doug and Nate are awesome guys to have additions to your shop. Awesome video Jolene!!!
Keep up the good work because I really enjoy watching you because you’re very entertaining. I get a big laugh out of you because you make more work for yourself than anybody I’ve ever seen in my life. If you lose a welder, you’re gonna be lost, right
The fella you got the 50 Ford parts from is why Nova Scotia is such a great place..lots of good folks there!
The parts got a new life other wise it would have just went back to the earth few more years and the earth will take it back.
Thanks for taking us along and thanks to the gentleman for allowing you to cut his car.
Hi Chad, Jolene, Nathan, Doug and Fina!! Great shows, really enjoy them everry night!!😊
You need to get yourself a barrel grinding set as it makes grinding inside curves and tight places much faster and does a much better job of it. Like the barrel sandpaper wheels inside a dremel tool and you can get them in different grits. The car looks awesome Chad and it's nice you have good help with the guys. You guys are making quick work out of the project.
Most of those sand barrel are for wood, he needs to order the blue sand paper for metal. You'll see how fast that blue sand paper grinds/sands metal vs the red sandpaper
Knife makers use the blue metal sand paper for making knives. Last longer to.
Well of course you would use emery type barrels. I didn't say to actually use wood sandpaper. I was just referring to the barrel type used in the dremel attachment kits.
Why not take the complete doors - if nothing else they will provide a source of matching metal should you need any when it comes to the other customising planned.
Fer real though that's good body metal for another project or like you said for this car may they need it.
Few more year's that car will be back to earth.
Curious why Chad didnt use the cut corner off the door to fill in, instead of cutting a new piece. Curve and square edge was already there and matching.
He said they look to big? That's why he made smaller coner pieces.
I'm glade he's rounding out the door corners to match what he has going on with the windows.
Once he gets the doors tight and right everything else should be sailing down hill. It will be ready for paint in no time.
It's a good thing it's running they have a car the accully can go to town and enjoy riding around in for the summer functions.
@@snoopu2601 , Thanks I must have missed him talking about it.
@@williambassett1674 I wondering why he don't have drawing gaeges like different size circles, squares, curves. Most fabricators have those different shapes to use for cutting out metal instead of guessing each side the size what not.
Chip Foose uses those gaeges. I use them when drawing out my plan's for my project's. Less mistakes because metal these day's are pricy $$
People had to use there common sense before all these fangle dangle things come along so why not now
That is exactly what we do and have done for more than 40 years at our shop. It works perfectly and saves a lot of time not to mention material.
Chad, I hope you finished his car with paint and windows and the whole 9 yards seems like you lower them do what you’re doing and you just put them away and start the next one. Be nice to see one finished.
Need to cover that dash board again
What a great guy who gave you free range over parts off his car.
Brilliant job on the door top and new corner profile Chad.
Brilliant project!
Wow nice neigbour and only five min away and you never know if you may need more of that ford 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Watch you guys lots love the content👍 only issue I have is where the quarter panel meets the rear post. The top crown of the quarter needs a nice crown that makes the roof and quarter look like one panel hopefully you guys will address that👍
I love how you keep on point and don't use a lot of fluff words to be everyone's buddy or friend. I would feel welcome in your shop any day and probably get sucked into the build. Great shows Chad and Jolene!!
On the door corners getting rounded.... says a lot Chad is willing to do THAT MUCH extra work for a small but meaningful payoff.
Ex moonshine runner lost in the woods lol Nice find❤
What a great score. Thankyou to whoever gifted Bad Chad with this tub. Yank it out Chad, load it up on the bike hauler in pieces.
How about a nice DEEP PURPLE with ROYAL BLUE fading flames.
Battery operated reciprocator saw. Cool as .
A craftsman at work with his creations is happiness and a treat to watch! "CHEERS!"
Car is looking way more goodera. Real nice of John to reach out and let you know he has that car if you need anything.
The rounded corners on the door and back window make a big difference, beautiful. But of course we wouldn’t ever know if it wasn’t for Jolene’s professionalism behind the camera.
It's the little details that makes the difference the 4 of you are fantastic together It's like being back in the garage again brings back the old days enjoy all the content thank you all
Team HILTZ...GREAT JOB on this car!...Would like to see the door aligned on the show. It would be interesting to me to see how it's done. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK❣❣❣❣🐈⬛
If you are busy you stay out of trouble, and the Hiltz team is busy everyday. Idle hands are a devils broth. Good for you guys.. Everything is just dandy, because you are busy and doing what you like.
Paint it candy apple red and this car will be a head turner
Awesome, Thanks
Take the entire car. Plenty of metal for other projects. You always have room for one more.
That may just be the best Lead Sled as they used to call them when they used Lead , that I have in my 78 years ever seen !
Note there are a lot of the Ford trunk hinges on the internet!
This car is really coming together ❤️...im hoping they get all these small details done..put some paint on her and the glass...and call it one sweeeet ride...cya tomorrow guys and queen jolene
Absolutely looking amazing. Glad you rounded the door. Looks so much better. Please get working glass in this one. Maybe consider lowering the seat inside to give more headroom. Not sure how you are going to fit.
Shorten the mounting brackets on the seats unless he uses different front seats altogether?
The newer car's usually have lower seats truck's what not.
@@snoopu2601 yes. Either of those would be good options. Even gaining 2 inches of more head room can make a huge difference.
Yes, looks so much better, could have made the other pieces wor but this is easier to make to look like it was from factory with a lot less body work!
IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!! Build is coming along nicely...Can't wait to see it painted.
It would be nice to have a Winfield fade paint job on that
That blue color from the door tops might be a cool color when it comes to paint
I would think Chad would get new pains and bushings for the doors so they shut and open right so he can get the gaps round the doors same an looking right and tight then get the new door rubber seals .
You fellers are killing it on this Ford! Carry on ❤😉✌
The curve on the door looks better, a whole lot better.😊😊😊
Doors look 100 percent better👍
You done better on your chop than howling wolf in my mind
Yes,tes,tes threee Times better👍👍👍
Chad grab the roof from it, it will come in handy if you decide to make a coupe out of another project
Its all looking pretty good. I don't envy Doug, but I do admire a man who will stick to a dirty tedious task. Better ones on the horizon for sure. Jolene sure got some good giggles today.
Nice to have friends like John!!
Need to replace the hinge pins on the doors. Like the other Canadian doing a chopped top shoe box Ford!
Would just take the doors, never know if ya need to replace 1 later. ✌
That '50 ford was waiting in those woods all these years for Chad !
The Magic continues, thanks Hiltz Team for great video content and superb camera work, Jolene!!!!
For the piece at the corner of door cut the piece long on the curved side and make some pie cuts on that rounded side and bend down to fill the opening that will be their after filling the the corner of body for the rounded door corner!
Happy New Year
Whenever we round off the top of a doors we use the piece we cut off the door to fill in on the body. It always comes out great.
It’s going to be a nice job, but more or less eliminated backseat
You need to adjust that door now! That will change all your gabs ! Then grind the welds to fit!
Bad Chad can build a lot of cars. I just like to see the motivation and positive and Happy than dog shit. Keep building.
Good thing you’re not here in Oz Chad. You’d have been bitten by 10 types of snakes and 17 types of spiders getting those door tops off 🤣👍
The door top looks a 100% better. Nice job
That mini belt sander would have worked perfect in that door corner clearancing
One of your top ten cars, awesome
REALLY LIKEING THE LOOKS OF THAT 'SHOEBOX ', in a ' candied root beer ' color. !!!
I was showing my co workers at lunch how fast this build is going and how good it looks so far.I think I got you a few new fans. They were very impressed.
Love this car guys! Can’t wait to see it out of paint, reeeaaallllyyy hoping you go back with the matte black! But for Pete’s sake can you please get Jolene’s Bugatti completed. She deserves that thing done!! Just sayin
Rounding door top is excellent idea!!
Lots of work though.
You could have saved some time by using the piece of the door corner you cut off and welding it to the body
Go for it Team Hiltz 👁 🐅 👌
Like the corner on the door
Pearl white with blue metal flake scallops would suit that car perfect
I think you should reconsider the trunk hinges they are rear.
Chad, I think the car looks more pretty if the front visor is considered. On the past video, I remember Nathan proposed it with the back metal cut. Awesome build. Thanks
Surprise what we have lying around in our Nova Scotian backyard and woods.
One mans junk is another mans treasure, that piece has made a huge difference, its all in the details. 👍
Jolene give Doug a hand to sand that primer 😂
You have created some beautiful lines on this shoebox. Converting it into something more sleek.
😎😎😎
Nice, 👍
How lucky to find the door pieces.
Yes, it's definitely better now, the rounded corner is also nice. 😎👍
Going well - please cover the Dash area. Great work - nice design.
This car went from zero to hero fast !😎
Has Gene Whitfield been following this build ? I bet he will like it !
Nice
I saw that no one caught the fact that the car was a 49 i know that 49 ford has pull door handles and 50 has push button door handles
Muito bom, exelente trabalho.
I have done this with a stick welder, you just have to use smallest rod you can get and take your time and pay attention to what you are doing to not burn through!
sunviosr from the car on the hill(cut roof off it???
Looking good there 👌
It’s looking good I was thinking the other day you probably don’t need to extend the quarters but it might still look good with the other tail lights and would look good with the 38 headlights
Glad to see Chad using battery powered tools. I believe he could get better cuts with a shorter blade. I believe he should have ground the corners a bit better before puting those small pieces in. Nate and Doug are just moving along and Jolene getting it all on camera.
Having everyone work on the car getting thing's done in no time at all.
You were talking at the start of this project of changing the headlights
& blacklists area plus a different grill section.😮
He said in yesterday’s video…that’s still on the cards. He wants it in primer so the other guys can continue working on the small stuff whilst he continues the fab work.
a cold stone on a grinder might work better than the die grinder for some corners
Chad would mind addressing what your plans are for the front and back end. Looks like you changed your mind yet again. I was just anticipating the custom changes.
