Evil and charming is a terrible combination for a personality. I really enjoyed that his wife set the investigation into motion. I can't stop thinking about hiring a private eye to catch a cheater, only to uncover THIS. Thanks Brief Case!
The dismemberment leads me to believe this isn’t the first time he killed someone. 😢 Poor Ms. Kaye. She was so happy to have finally become a mother and soon a wife. She probably thought, at 30yrs old, she wouldn’t get that chance.
Yeah with that face she probably thought he was her prince charming but in reality she was just another mark for him. Once her money dried up she had to go. Plus she was telling anyone who'd listen she was pregnant and getting married. He killed her to shut her up.
What a truly despicable man to lie, steal, commit adultery and a horrific murder, too. I'm glad that justice was served and he received the death penalty. I can't comprehend how his wife could've still continued to stand by him after the way he treated her, period! Great investigating, presentation and backstory, too.
This was the early 20th century; a divorce wasn’t very easy to get, and women had few rights. At that time, a woman was considered the property of her father until she married, and thereafter, property of her husband. In many places, a married woman couldn’t own property in her own name, nor have unlimited access to her own money. Quite a few women remained single in order to be able to control their own destinies; having married him, his wife was effectively trapped.
So much more satisfying than the current system where death-row inmates go through so many appeals on technical grounds that they live a few more decades after their crimes.
@JosieJOK Yes, and being married to a murderer you and your children and everyone who stood by you effectively became shunned from „good“ society, no matter how innocent you were. So i think a lot of women stood by their men, just to save the family’s reputation.

Very interesting case ,i'm often struck by the way social history seems to have an influence on the type of crimes that happen during a given period .Married men pursuing ,"Marrying" or becoming engaged to ,and defrauding moderately wealthy women seems to have been a bit of a feature of the inter war years .Of course most of them didn't kill their victims ,just robbed and left them .I wonder if the psychological effect of WWI had something to do with it ,or perhaps the shortage of eligible young men made women easier to manipulate .Of course it helped that it was easier to create a false identity than it would be in later years .Thank you for continuing to bring us these little known historical cases .
Committing murder is awful in itself, this was gruesome! Choosing to dismember the body after the fact? That took this murderer to a whole different level! Good morning!! Wow this was a pretty sad case because of the way he treated her body and it was so barbaric. I also felt really bad for the wife because she kept forgiving him for the things he kept doing. I moved into a house that I didn’t know two people were murdered and because I was renting the house the landlord had no obligation to tell me and when I found out I moved out. Is just really heartbreaking what he did to this poor woman she thought they were going to marry and I believe he killed her because she was pregnant. Once again thank you for a great story and I hope you have a fabulous week 🇬🇧
@@BriefCaseOfficial I was living in the house for six months and I didn’t know the neighbors that well because I was gone most of the time. I had a day off and one of the neighbors came over to introduce herself and we just started talking and she told me what happened and looking back it was really funny because some strange things were happening in the house. I had some friends over for a barbecue and one friend went into the bathroom and told me the shower was on and I thought he was joking so we all went in the house and the shower was on. So then I started to remember some odd things that happened that I really didn’t think about but the neighbor told me that a mother and her grown son had been killed in the house so I called the landlord and since it was a month to month rental I moved out so fast. In some states if you’re buying a house and someone either died or was murdered they have to tell you but if you’re renting they are not obligated to tell you what happened which I find kind of shocking. I think the murders had taken place a year before I moved in

He was a terrible person. I feel so sorry for Emily Kaye. She was so excited to be a wife and mother only to be viciously murdered by him. I wonder if Jessie really was that loyal to him or if she felt she didn't have other options.
That he never stopped proclaiming his innocence was probably due to a sincere belief that whatever he did was not criminal -- it was just what he wanted to do, so it was okay. In his head, at least. He went to some lengths to dispose of the body, which meant he at least knew it was "illegal," but failing to take responsibility in the face of overwhelming evidence seems a dead giveaway of psychopathy.
Wow I realize that adultery was considered almost a victimless crime but he had at least 3 women, got one pregnant while wife was raising his child, took the third to the sane cottage. What a worthless man. Could stop stealing money from employers & women. Then proclaims innocence?!
In so many cases these guys plan and figure out how to kill the person, but never give a thought as to how to get rid of the body. I think that's probably the first lesson in Murder 101 class? All the rivers and woods and he does this. To go to all that trouble and yet...
Sometimes forgiveness is a foolish thing to do. His wife was a fool, imo, Divorce was beginning to be more acceptable in the 20th century. She should have left him. He certainly didn't care about her. In time, he might have murdered her and the children. Great narration as usual BC.

You don't dismember someone and dispose of the pieces after they fell and died as a result of them "accidently" hitting their head.
And yet, even now, murderers come up with the same story, as if they don't give investigators and jurors credit for intelligence.

Murder is obviously bad enough but dismembering the body takes it to whole new level of heartless, depraved evil.
The wife may not have had much choice about forgiving her husband. Had she left her husband, she would have been destitute.
How'd she support herself and her children while he was in prison for years? And gambling away what money they had when he was out.
So nah.
And her reputation & social standing would also have suffered.
Should've picked a better man to marry rather than going off looks and money

She was loyal to her husband until death and was dismissive of Emily. According to Mrs Mahon her husband was innocent of murder
Another excellent story from BC from The UK. Thanks for your great stories.🎉
Thanks Berenice
That he never stopped proclaiming his innocence was probably due to a sincere belief that whatever he did was not criminal -- it was just what he wanted to do, so it was okay. In his head, at least. He went to some lengths to dispose of the body, which meant he at least knew it was "illegal," but failing to take responsibility in the face of overwhelming evidence seems a dead giveaway of psychopathy.
Everything about this case indicates that this is unlikely to be the first time he had disposed of a body.
This is insane, great presentation!!!
another great case! thank you.
Love all the new ones 😊
Wow I realize that adultery was considered almost a victimless crime but he had at least 3 women, got one pregnant while wife was raising his child, took the third to the sane cottage. What a worthless man. Could stop stealing money from employers & women. Then proclaims innocence?!
Good morning BC ! What a horrible man 😖…a torturous death would have been warranted… thanks for bringing another unknown story to us! 🇨🇦😊
Thanks Lorna
Such a charming fellow. Thanks, BC.
That man is a piece of work ......great work as usual
Just love your stories❤
Thankyou so much
Good Morning, Brief Case.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐well presented as always particularly gruesome one this time ... if this were fiction people would say it was over kill ... but it's not fiction
In so many cases these guys plan and figure out how to kill the person, but never give a thought as to how to get rid of the body. I think that's probably the first lesson in Murder 101 class? All the rivers and woods and he does this. To go to all that trouble and yet...
I really love your work
Thanks
Thank You
He did this horrific murder and then he had the nerve to plead not guilty! 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
Sometimes forgiveness is a foolish thing to do. His wife was a fool, imo,
Divorce was beginning to be more acceptable in the 20th century. She should have left him. He certainly didn't care about her. In time, he might have murdered her and the children.
Great narration as usual BC.
Thankyou :)
