      Probably he changed the button in the remote or repaired it. There is no transponder in this key. The immobilisation is done via the central locking

    I had to go to a dealer for the EKA code, provide registration, VIN, and my driver's license. They look it up using the last 8 digits of the VIN. Some shops charge for this, mine did not - Colorado, USA

    Hi,
    I hope you are well? I have a 2001 Land rover discovery 2 TD5 to do next week. If I understand correctly the immo is managed by the remote control, I had planned to make a simple key to the customer but it won't work . I find that remote control for EWS you think it will work?

      They will provide the EKA code to you for free at any Land Rover dealer (after you prove with official docs the car is yours).

    So is the first part of this video a “get out of jail card” for if your remote stops working suddenly?
    I recently got stranded a couple of times because my remote wouldn’t unlock the car. It would lick it OK but not unlock it without about 10 minutes or more pressing and squishing the fob button. In the end I had to leave the car unlocked as I was worried it might pack up altogether. Fortunately I found a new key I had bought months earlier and swapped all the innards and blade over and it now works fine as it was just the rubber spigot inside had got worn and squished. But had I known this turn combination trick I wouldn’t have been so worried about locking it and never getting it unlocked again. So would this work in that scenario?

    • @sebastianthelocksmithandre1600
      @sebastianthelocksmithandre1600  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. But you need to enquire or buy the eka code from the dealership

      @@sebastianthelocksmithandre1600 So what do I need the EKA code for? If the vehicle can be driven until I either get a new battery for my fob or repair the circuit board, surely I don't need the EKA code? Or are you saying the number combination you used to open with the key turns IS the EKA code? That might explain why when I just tried following the steps you showed it didn't work because before I completed the sequence it beeped twice. I tried several times, doing the holds for shorter times etc but what ever I tried when I opened the door the alarm went off.

      I know this is too late being one year down the line, but if anyone is reading this anew with the same problem, ie they have the remote but it doesn’t work, first thing to try after replacing the battery is take the back off the key, (presumably you’ve had the back off to change the battery, if not do a YT search to find how to change the battery) take the battery out, carefully prise out the whole circuit board which is held in by two clips in the casing, just get a tiny screw driver under the end nearest the blade and slightly to the side and with some wiggling it will pop out. Make note of the way round it is orientated in the casing, ie the space below the battery is near the blade of the key. Now see if there are any broken parts lose in the casing or fall out onto the work surface, if not then check the inside of the half of the casing that holds the blade and has the rubber buttons and see if the little rubber spigots that push the switches are in good condition, even if they appear OK still try this - put the battery back in the circuit board but don’t put it back in the casing, remember it is flattest side of the battery facing up, take this unit on it’s own out to the car.
      On the opposite side of the battery in the circuit board you’ll see two tiny switches, they’re tiny teeny rectangles or boxes about 6mm long, one in line with the blade end and the other off to one side. Press these gently with your thumb nail and see if they work the locks. If they both work then all you need is a replacement key which you can buy from eBay and just swap everything over to the new case including your original blade, you won’t even need to get a new blade cut. There is a video on YT showing how to do this. In the meantime while waiting for a new key, put the circuit board in a mini ziploc bag or something to keep it clean, snap the casing back together on your old key without the circuit board inside, so now you can use the circuit board separately to unlock and lock the car and start it with the key. A bit awkward but it will work.
      If of course if you find broken bits and or the circuit board still doesn’t work the locks, then I’m afraid is main dealer or car lock/remotes/alarm specialist.
      Hope this helps someone.😊
