Appreciate this SO much. Been keto almost 3 years now, with 60-70lbs. lost and kept off (with very few left to etch out lol), and am naturally craving exercise and feeling so much more whole mentally, and am learning more on how it's a process of cellular recovery thanks to vids such as this, WHICH INCITES AN INQUIRY: I only recently learned about the incretin effect, having previously thought I already fully understood, at a layperson/basal level, the basics of ketotic biochemistry lol. Could you please consider doing a video/segment that helps to break this down more? I'm currently taking Berberine with pure ceylon daily, and have measured and seen its benefits with blood sugar regulation (I check with my ketone/glucose strips and it's lowered my post-meal by around 10, and increased my ketones by around .7). Many thanks Doc and God bless you and your continued work. 🙏💪👍👍😎
Oh that's cool...carboholic..never heard that before. But I am sugarholic too. Congratulations to you for staying strong for soo long. I almost gave up the other day...but I pulled through.
Who believes that your body would crave something it doesn't need? Food cravings are not an addiction. It's your body letting you know something is missing....
@@lindabell6954 Food addiction works through the same Catacholamine Receptors in the brain as other addictions that cause Dopamine release. Grains work on the same receptors as Opioids.

I really wish this was taught in the black community who somehow have convinced themselves that they're not fat they're just curvy. Over the years I've been criticized by my family and friends because I've always maintained my high school weight outside of 10 to 15 lb over the past 60 years of my life. They would get offended when I chose not to eat certain foods at cookouts and say little insulting things about how I'm starving myself. My 25-year-old daughter who is 5'7 120 lb refused to go to a lot of family gatherings because they would make little insults to her as well. Sadly only the people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired will seek out wonderful videos like this. I hope sometime soon this will become common knowledge to people everywhere, because it's heart breaking to see my diabetic family members slowly killing themselves at their doctors advice. I feel so helpless because they tell me I'm not a doctor and don't know what I'm talking about 😫
So difficult. I totally understand. Especially the “pleasingly plump” delusional terminology. I have stopped defending myself and just agree that they could be right. Let’s wait and see coz my blood work, BP, diabetes and brain scans for further stroke damage will all be terrible if they are right and I’m wrong. I don’t expect some miraculous ‘road to Damascus’ moment from them because they are more about self-justification of their own choices rather than deep concern about mine. It’s just human nature. They conveniently ignore the evidence of my no longer being on medications, no longer in bed sick most days 🤷🏽♀️ Keep going Mica - can’t change everyone - only ourselves. All the best 😊
@@peregrine7303 in a word yes, but don’t forget that all carbs break down into sugar molecules, so you need to avoid all sugars AND starches (inc all grains). Weight loss is quicker and more sustainable, as you don’t get hungry like you do on low fat diets. You feel better, which gives you massive incentive to stick to it. I have also noticed that I am losing fat from all the places I want to lose from (tummy and butt), whereas on previous low fat diets, I’d lose weight from my face (making me look ill) and breasts! On keto/ fasting, all my blood work has gone back to “normal”, BP back to normal, no longer borderline type 2 diabetic, off beta blockers, off statins and four stone in weight lost.
Same situation. They tell you that YOU are killing yourself and it's the exact opposite. My brother is waiting for CNN to announce sat fat is safe. Until then he is high carb and morbidly obese...because that is safe. Soda addict.
It is difficult. I have tried sooo many "healthy" diets/waysa aof eating. Recently (3weeks) gone carnivore. I no longer feel the time I am not eating is "fasting" - I just don't need to eat. I was wondering if you could find places on line where your community go - you coould share inforative videos re keto & carnivore , and they would see them and maybe eventually watchone or two. Dr Berry has a play list he call 101 - short and to the point. Might be worth a try. Best Wishes
35 years old. 20 years vegetarian, gained 70-80lbs, forever tired, acne, eczema, irregular periods, severe IBS. But vegetarian is healthy right? So the problem is coming from somewhere else right? Wrong. 2 months paleo, IBS completely went away, and no more eczema, down 30lbs, no hunger. Switched then to carnivore, no acne, regular periods, energy, great sleep, IBS and eczema still a thing of the past, more fat loss. Decided to eat some "naughty" foods during this quarantine, immediate IBS, acne, fatigue, poor sleep from a few meals including carbs, and heavier on the scale. So not worth it. The proof is right there. But people are so used to feeling like crap that they think it's the normal way of feeling. It isn't until you stop, that you realize you don't have to feel sick, heavy, bloated, exhausted all the time. On carnivore, I don't need to wear deodorant and my teeth have very little plaque build up on them. A few meals with carbs, my sweat stinks and I have a plaque coating on my teeth all day. Today, I return to carnivore because these past few days have hammered all my progress, and for what? Some bread and a slice of cake? Please.
Hi mam. I'm no expert, but really glad to hear that you are going to do the carnivore diet. I'm 48 and grew up on a high meat based diet and still experienced huge benefits going completely carnivore. I'm still in the early days, but listening to the overwhelming amount of positive testimonys out there, I can't think that you will regret it. Like the doctor said, do it progressively is what I would do if I were your age. The carbohydrate addiction for me is still a struggle, but I'm getting there. I sincerely hope (know) that you do well, and get healthy for you and your family. Blessings from down here in South Africa 🇿🇦🥩🥓🍖🍗
@@abumnm if I may say something, yes you will most certainly experience diarrhea. I personally had it for about 3 days then it was all over. I listened to many testimonys, and by the looks of it most of the time it's about a week. For me personally it wasn't that bad, knowing that your body is flushing out all the crap and starting to heal itself. Hope you give it a shot.
I started dieting by getting rid of bread, pasta, potatoes because i was in PAIN. Then found rice caused it too so dropped that. I didnt even know what keto was. Kept dropping foods when it hurt to eat it. Then i learned i was actually ON KETO and started learning about it. I accidentally ate a packet of spices and started hurting and looked on the package.... WHEAT FLOUR!! I have no temptation to go off this LIFESTYLE because i dont like pain.
@@timothyfagan494 what started me on this was BURNING pain in my stomach. Felt like it was on fire. I had been saying "I need to get off gluten" for a few months so i figured it just got out of control. What ended up happening though was other pain that i had not associated with gluten (lower back, shoulders and shoulder blades were the worst) started to disappear too. Havent noticed that pain in a while now. It sure didnt take much flour to set off the pain in my stomach again. Just the little bit in a packet of mexican spices. I can make my own and get no pain at all. I have homemade cookies sitting in the kitchen and they dont tempt me AT ALL!!! Im not going that route again!!!
@@3611136111 that's amazing but I thought I was the only one that figured it out, lol. I have been vegan for 30 years but all a sudden I started to have major gout and hip pain. Thought just getting older then listened to Dr Berry and said what the heck. Jumped into carnivore because I didn't want to deal with figuring out carbs. Pain gone in less than a week. The only thing I now deal with is oxalates dumping. This does feel like gout sometimes because it's little crystals that settled in your joints and are now being expelled. This can take a while. Look into it.
@@deckerdax wow you just explained what my grandmother went thru back before i was born. The drs thought she had become diabetic and she decided to go carnivore. Mind you this was probable 80 or more years ago. They thought back then that she was dumping sugar. Very interesting. Thanks.
Thank you for introducing Dr Cywes to your audience- he deserves a wider audience- he has a wealth of information and is so practical in his approach (- as are you). Thank you!
I will be 80 mid year and put myself on a Keto diet at the beginning of November and had lost 20 lbs by mid January. I have since lost several more pounds....but now am a convert to eating clean and keto. I do not have the same knee pain and can move much better. My clothes fit and many are too big. I only wanted to lose about 20 lbs. I did a good amount of research prior to starting this way of eating and encourage any who ask me to do the same. I have watched quite a lot of Dr. Berry’s videos.
I am a recovering alcoholic who has comming up on 24 years on June 19th. I have been eating keto for 3 1/2 years. I agree 100% eating carbohydrates and sugar was just has hard to give up. Maybe even more because you cant just abstain from eating.
I'm on the carnivore diet now for about 40 days and lost just over 10 kgs. But the problem is that I'm sharing a house with 3 women that refuse to eat healthy, and the whole day I'm so tempted to fall back, but I'm taking this time to train my brain to say no to the sugars and carbohydrates. Thanks to both of you from South Africa 🇿🇦🥩
I don't share a house but I do have food on hand for guests that is non-keto so I have designated specific shelves of my pantry and fridge as "food I don't eat". It's a small mind game but it actually seems to work.
I agree with Mike's advice, try to be full of something with fat, not just lean meat, eggs are a good choice on carnivore or bacon, fat is very satiating gives a lot of energy and it's easier to resist temptation if you don't need energy or food. Also what I personally do is try to associate all my health issues with the food that made me sick, say you had some pain somewhere and it's less or gone on carnivore, every time you're tempted by a food, instead of remembering the taste you likes, think about the food and focus on that pain at it worse, always associate the bad food to the bad feeling.
@@JezaGaia thanks for the advice. I'm a fat addict. Fatty foods has always been a favorite of mine. My eldest daughter came into the kitchen one night, thinking she's going to catch me cheating on the diet. What she found was me eating a big chunk for pork lard with salt and pepper. Consuming fat has never been a problem, it's the smell of the brownies and biscuits they're baking that is a challenge. But I do appreciate all the tips, as our lock down has been extended till the end of April. May you all be safe and healthy, with blessings from the quiet South Africa 🥩🇿🇦🥓
@@alwilsonwastheman almond milk, peanut butter, flax seeds may be touted as "super healthy", but alas, it ain't true. A better fatty smoothie would be with the cream, the avocado, a raw egg (or just the yolk) with some bone broth, additional herbs, maybe some sardines or canned salmon - that IS nourishing and filling
I can not believe this video only has 7.3k likes!?!?!?!?!! Don't forget to like it people, this is one of the best conversations I ever heard! As a recovering addict to MANY addictions, this is really hitting home!
@@tinalettieri This is VERY true. I dealt with the same thing when I got sober. If the entire heard is drinking, it CAN'T be bad. If the government says try and eat 50% of your carbs as refined, it CAN'T be bad.
@@No_Frills_Carnivore Well, those three are one is the reality. Anything that disrupts one, disrupts the three, ultimately. If you are upset, sad or hyper on sugar or carbs they are breaking your spirit down and it is the level people are least aware of if they don't realize. Anything you allow to generate guilt is a spiritual infection.
I appreciate the Dr.s acknowledge that a person who considers these changes as a "diet" are erroneous. That you are only "killing your best friend" when you think that way. That goes in line with addiction recovery, when a person takes a "large negative habit" out of their lives they have to fill that void, just as equally, with a large positive habit, or a person will most certainly fall back into that negative habit. Words like "diet" are self defeating trickery upon ourselves.
when you LOVE someone or something you WILLINGLY GIVE UP SOMETHING to keep the relationship healthy and growing. one of the first thoughts I learned from Dr. Berry is to LOVE my organs that work 24/7 to keep me healthy and disease free. this is registered within me more so than my connection to my self-consciousness, wife, or children..... and I don't have to give either of them up to keep my mind/body healthy. sooo nice! thanx guy's!!
Absolutely sugar is addicting! Keto saved my butt. I've learned to stay away from keto sweets, too. The brain doesn't know what's what when that sweet taste hits the tongue.
So true. I did a candida kill diet for 60 days. No artificial sugars. I'm wondering now if Stevia is triggering sugar cravings. I fell off the wagon and use stevia constantly. Maybe I should take it out of my diet.
@@erickamarsh3327 I think you are totally right. Stevia triggered my sugar cravings in a major way. I eliminated it immediately and cravings stopped. Sugar free, grain free, dairy free, for 8 mos now by the Grace of God!

You both are 2 of my favorites! Thank you for all you do. I have learned and applied so much of what you educate about. I am a carb addict and choose to not eat or drink any carbs at all and now am more healthy than I have ever been. I weigh less than I did when I was 12 years old. I am proud to say I have no more addictions, I even got rid of coffee and tea. I am using this stress to fast and take extra care of my body. I am also digging into projects and being productive. This is my lifestyle forever. It has changed my life!
Thank you Dr. Berry and Dr. Cywes. I came back to the U.S after 2 years on a military contract, weighing 230 lbs. At 5”9’ I was very over weight and out of shape. I discovered Keto through you Dr. Berry and dropped 45 lbs. Then the snacking began. I noticed that my weight would fluctuate between 182 and 187. It didn’t matter what I ate, my weight stayed within that range. I thought I was doing okay. A few weeks ago, the day after my 54th birthday, I had a heart attack. Oops! My cardiologist put in a single stent and said that with the single exception of the location of my stent, my other arteries looked okay. He put me on Plavix and Lipitor (which I flushed) and BP meds. The day after release from the hospital, I began a strict Carnivore regimen and have never felt better. I am now down to 170 lbs and am actually feeling like working out to repair the damage to my heart muscle. Again, thank you. Despite my heart attack, because of fine doctors such as yourselves, I still have hope!
Just went to the supermarket and walked past all the Easter eggs and hot cross buns. Strategically placed all through the shop including in between the veggies and the meat. No shortage of them! Contemplated buying some, but resisted in the end. Probably the first year ever without them.
@keecefly: I'm sorry but there is not a whole lot of evidence for the efficacy of prayer as a medical treatment. The "12 step program" favoured by AA is not the only approach to dealing with addiction.
There are some people who eat sugar out of the packet and can't stop. In the case I am thinking of, the guy was also addicted to alcohol and he did recognise that both sugar and alcohol were addictions.
I would encourage you to find keto desserts. There are a LOT of recipes on TH-cam. You can eat berries and real whipped cream, brownies, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, a really close simulation of creme brule, etc. I use liquid Stevia for sweetness but I have not made any keto desserts because I'm not craving sweets. Powdered sugar substitutes are available and they are not artificial. It can be tough but you can do it!
I'm surprised that extended fasting wasn't mentioned as an option. Many have found it much easier for breaking any bad habits and addictions than the gradual, weaning yourself off method mentioned.
Thanks to both of you!! I lost 25 lbs on keto and am at a good wt now. Struggling to get over carb addiction!! This conversation brings me back to right thinking!!! Yay!!
Dr Berry and Dr Cywes. I absolutely love you guys. No nonsense doctors. Both of you are a breath of fresh air and I am happily sharing this video wherever I can. Thank you for the great information. You two are the best 😍😍
I am just amazed about all I’m learning from these great conversations. Mind is blown. I’m a nurse and in the process of totally reversing all the things I’ve been taught about health and nutrition. My skepticism about the medical system started with all this junk last year, and I have been finding more and more excellent information like this. It also resonates deeply with me being a carb addict all my life. I’ve started this health journey 3 weeks ago, and am so excited about my healthy future.
Thank you both for a very good listen. Dr. Berry, You changed my world, I love you. I have learned so much. My mentor. I started keto new years day, a 30 day resolution, with you, Thomas Delauer and Dr Berg. Not to mention Low carb downunder and all those fab specialists. I expected another failed resolution like other years. I was at my highest weight and what most would call and alcoholic. I drank 8 or more Canadian beer daily. I hurt and needed to detox. So New Years resolution was my time to challenge myself to a 30 detox. I found all this on you tube on January 1, while really hungover. Here I am 99 days later. I feel great. I am 40 pounds lighter and I am loving keto, but I think carnivore is more for me. Starting tomorrow. My biggest surprise is I don't drink beer any more. This has made me quit drinking. I didn't expect that to happen. I don't understand how it worked. I have drank a beer or two in the past month and I did not enjoy them. I don't want it anymore. This was not what I expected. I didn't think I would quit drinking. I thought to do that would be hard. I don't understand it,but I am not really complaining. I guess I am a bit. I enjoyed it. It was my social time, now...
My roommate after seeing my relatively modest progress on keto, made a new years resolution to do it himself. In one year, he went from 265lb to 160lbs. He wouldn't cheat a bit, he knew he was addicted. He worked in a restaurant this whole time too. He'd lettuce wrap some beef if he was getting too hungry when skipping breakfast and lunch. When you really stick to it and don't budge one bit, even for restaurants with friends, that's how you get true success. I relapsed when I got too comfortable making exceptions. Now I'm doing very carnivore heavy keto. I allow high fat dairy and the occasional vegetable, like to make a hearty stew once in a week or two.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you doctors who give us such wonderful advice. I’ve lost over 55 lbs on keto, no fatty liver any more, no arthritis, no high blood pressure, I’m normal weight and go to sleep with a smile on my face every night knowing that I’m now healthy. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 😊
Addictive. I don't care what anyone will say to counter that charge. My wife and I fed our daughter her first real dose of straight up sugar near her first birthday. After her first bite, she let out a blood curdling scream for more that she had never done before or since. We seldom feed her things like that, but she certainly does eat catbohydrates. Just never HFC, sodas other sugary drinks, or candy. Our dentist thanks us every checkup. 6yrs of age and no cavities yet.
I'm struggling so much with having to be home with my son's food in the house. A huge way for me to do well with my fasting was to have my regular work schedule and to not be around food all day. But now I'm here at home with my son snacks and food and I fell off the wagon and I've already gained like 15 pounds. The mind is an amazing thing. I know I've done keto before and I know I can do it again but the addiction is real.
Allicia I’ve gained 15 pounds during 6 weeks of staying isolated and it’s driving me nuts. I’m stocking up on keto food and getting back on track. The kids are going to have to eat more healthy! If it has sugar in it I’m donating it. I just can’t have it in this house.
@@jenlauren8818 Good for you!! YOU pay the mortgage not THEM!! I understand that it is important to not take the child's 'voice' away from them (I know all about that; my own parents did it to me) but let them express that differently. YOU dictate the food choices. They will adapt nicely and when they get out on their own they can make those food choices for themselves and they will THANK YOU for a healthy, wise blue print
I told my kids when they visit that it’s ok to bring their own food and snacks. When they leave, they either take their food back with them or I throw it in the garbage. Sugar is too tempting-powerful for me.
Watching this video at 4 am in California, the quarantine is making havoc on my sleeping habits, Im loving it! What a wonderful way to teach us how to take care of ourselves. Clear, down to earth and full of great info!
Thank you so much for this video. It was eye opening to look at this from the perspective of it being an addiction. Since the “c” virus has ramped up and there has been so much change, I notice myself eating more and more carbs and craving sweets. As a former smoker and former drug addict, this content really opened my eyes to my current behavior! Thank you both again!
I have had a sleeve with a switch and still have a sugar addiction. Transitioning to carnivore diet. Last few days I have seen the difference, deeper sleep, extremely less gas, and better mood!! Muchas Gracias from the innermost part of my being Dr. Berry, Neisha, and the entire PHD team!!
People stay on Carnivore for years because it does address emotional needs for comfort. As a carnivore my emotional life is much calmer and less spiked. I think that Dr C is still clarifying his own sensory pathway.
Great talk!! Personally what helped me to deal with emotional eating was fasting. I had to learn to deal with my emotions without the food crotch. My rule of thumb is, if I'm willing to eat a boiled egg then I'm really hungry.
This entire Corona virus situation has been extremely stressful. I was low carb before, and since I've increased the carbs. I live in NYC, and we are all sheltering in. Trying to stay positive. Luckily my intermittent fasting is on point. I pray for strength. Thanks for this very needed video.
I've been keto for 22 years. You have to quit sugar all at once and compensate with fat. It's harder to eat sugar after you just finished a 22 ounce Tbone. Eat enough real food not to be hungry. When you are off the sugar you can adjust your fat content and food intake if needed.
Thank you Dr. Berry! I started Keto October 1, 2019. As of May 1, 2020 I have lost 37 lbs. During this journey the number one thing I have learned is I am a carbaholic. I would eat pasta and be hungry an hour later. If I eat half a small potato I will be hungry all evening. I will eat a mouthful to satisfy my self when I am eating at someone house or cooking for family and I am ok, no problems with that. I am satisfied. But I mainly am a OMAD person. Eating dinner or lunch and that is it. I am full and satisfied. Due to A-fib I have had a pacemaker for 10 years. My blood pressure is awesome at 135/70 no meds at age 70. I feel better and have more energy than I have had in years. Don’t get me wrong...I have aches but keep moving...I garden, clean my house, take care of my large yard, it just takes me longer. If I get tired I sit for a few minutes and then continue. I will be swimming soon at the pool at the farm I grew up on. My brother put a pool in 2 years ago. I know this month I will drop below 180 and hit the 40 lb mark. I was 218 when I finally decided to go Keto after researching during the month of September 2019. I love following you, you are one of my favorite Doctors. I will be helping my best friend with starting Keto soon. We are meeting Friday, I have inspired her, but told her she needs to decide when she is ready to change her way of eating. This is not a diet it is a healthy way of living. God bless you and thank you. Hugs and love.
I use ‘creative arts’ to manage my emotions. I’m a writer, but I also love to draw and do crafts. It helps me deal with self isolation these days, too.
Amazing, thanks for that explanation: humans are a low carb animal. Especially the notes on foods that have been altered. Healthy emotional management system to replace the addiction. Walking, gardening, sculpting, fashion, photography, spirituality, empathic human connection. Expose vulnerabilities. Brilliant. 1. Create a bridge, develop a bridge; go to your can haves. 2. Get into ketosis; fortify yourself with can haves, shift over remove all grains, easing into better choices , add soluble fat, Add salt to food - real salt 3. No snack, get to OMAD over time to lose weight 4. Rid of fruit. : what remains is avocado, ( berries are a trigger for addictive behaviour) Later you may have better control and resume
🇿🇦🇿🇦 Great video, thank you! Being working with clients on their sugar addiction and every day is just another eye-opener. We need to rebuke this social stigma that it's all about will power. Everytime someone tells me they have no patience for an obese person, I want to slap them in the face :-)
I wish there was a button to like your comment 20 times. You are en point. I could write a whole treatise on how my family made my brother and I feel. You nailed it in a short few sentences.
I’ve referred both of you to more than 40 of my clients (I’m a therapist in CA). Your advice helped 3 of my clients discover they were insulin resistant and almost diabetic!!! Thank you thank you.
I am definitely sharing your video on Facebook. I never watch videos for more the 5 mins. This is the first video that I am still glued to this video. Thank you Doctors.
So, so very informative! I’ve been feeling like a failure, I am definitely addicted to sugar. I’m a type 2 diabetic (10 years) who still gives into cravings for sugar, I’ve been keto for 12 months but crashed during isolation. This has given me the inspiration to get rid of the carbs and sugar. Thankyou for all you do and share.
I lost one kidney through cancer about 15 yrs ago. Since then I have wanted to be very protective of my healthy kidney. Therefore I thought i was doing well by stopping most of my meds (dr approved) but it took me many years to find keto and a year to research and after starting I lost 30 lbs in 2 months. My gerd left me, bye-bye, my blood pressure is down to normal, I was pre diabetic, dr had me on thyroid med at one time but I asked to go off as it was minimal and I have been on cholesterol med forever, or so it seems . I asked him at my last appt if I could go off that med. He told me my cholesterol would go up. I stopped taking it that day as I’m eating healthy and maybe it could be classified as ketovoire. Also I was having so many stomach issues but now that is gone completely unless I fall off the wagon for a meal and overstuff myself. I am an 85 year old healthy woman who feels so much better than I ever did. I am off all prescription meds and my blood work came back perfect. I won’t live forever but hopefully feel healthy while I’m still here.🤗
Awesome video, I love the fact that he said we have to manage our emotions/stress. This is a big part of our health too. Just started keto again for the second time. Trying to get rid of my belly fat which I know stress is a big part of. Snacking is emotional eating, so true.
Yes, stress is a killer. I had 5 kids, was taking a couple classes at college, and had a part-time job...oh, and a husband who thought women should stay barefoot and pregnant. Make a list of your stressors and just give some thought as to how you might make them (one at a time) less stressful. What would make things improve? Even just removing one stressor can help enormously.
Hi, I'm Tanya and I'm a carb addict. In recovery. I've been Keto two years and new to Carnivore. it's been a rough year for all of us, I've failed to hold strong all year. I've been following Dr. Berry two years now and recently discovered Dr. Cywes. i appreciate you both and what you share so very much, thank you for your candor. For your honesty. For your information. You are doing so much good for us all.
I’ve been employed 7 years at an alcohol/ drug rehab and many of the patients don’t truly understand the drug of choice is not the problem... but a symptom of the problem. An inability to cope with life on life’s terms is the real issue. Without a plan to internally deal and cope with life addicts turn to external sources.
I love bulletproof coffee and lately I’ve heard TH-cam videos stating that bulletproof coffee is not good for you adding the fat. But I love my Kerry Gold butter in my coffee.
Daily D one is because coffee is made from the bean, which is considered a seed. So as we have learned seeds are not good for us because of the Oxalates. But coffee is considered low in Oxalates. The second is the pesticide sprayed on the coffee beans. Paul Saladino has some TH-cam videos on it. So I’m still drinking my coffee with my butter.
@@Lindabraggketovore i drink only organic as well.. I have been limiting my butter to a very tiny bit.. But i love organic whole cream more.... I have known about the oxalates but didn't know if there were other harms i hadn't heard of..
1 bulletproof coffee, if it helps you stay keto, I don’t believe is bad. Coffee is full of antioxidants. If you are at your goal weight I think it’s fine. If you are still losing it can slow down weight loss if you are adding a lot of fat. Many keto or carnivores I know still use coffee, though not excessively.
I'm in Massachusetts Dr Berry. I am a type 1 and have struggled with carb and sugar addiction even after finding keto which helped lower my A1C greatly. I feel it is a drug for sure.
Sugar addiction is the body’s craving for vitamin C, since fruits have a lot of it. Every time I have a craving, after a pinch (gram) of vitamin C powder the craving goes away after a couple of minutes. With all the inflammation we have been inflicted with it's no surprise that there is a atypically large need for it.
Blown away at having my favorite Doc's together! Please do this again. You both have so much knowledge to share with us. It is priceless. Great info on sweet taste causes insulin release. Doesn't matter what "keto sweetener" you use. . . sweet is sweet.
Two of my favorite keto doctors. Thank you both for all you do. I started this journey long before I discovered you, but continue to learn much that keeps me on track in this lifestyle. Dr. Berry convinced me to shift mostly to carnivore. Dr. Cywes helped me understand a lot more about the metabolism and fat adaptation. Down 80 lbs from about 4 years ago, and finally in the "normal" body weight range.
Holy Ketosis! a Dynamic Duo with 2 Batmans! Great presentation! I've been strict keto since June 17. Lost 100 pounds+ and never felt better! Just in time it looks like! A life long decision and never going back.
THANK YOU FOR THIS!! BLESSINGS AND SUCCESS! Absolutely have always said bariatric surgery can ONLY work if you will get emotional support along with it.
My sister had Roux En Y gastric bypass surgery a few years ago. She did it for weight loss, but she also did it to "fix" her diabetes. I can't remember how many years ago she had it, less than 10 because she had it after my husband died. She lost weight, but wouldn't eat right (they recommended basically a low carb diet) and now she's put the weight back on and she's diabetic. My mom has tried to push me into weight loss surgery for various reasons, but I refuse because I believe that it doesn't do any good to change the body if you don't change the mind. I've gone back to a low carb diet, and am working my way down to, very probably, carnivore. I've lost weight, I'm happier, I know I'm healthier. I am just not going to have surgery to fix something I can fix on my own
I just started transitioning into the carni diet and I was really surprised when the carb withdrawals hit me on day 5. I don't even eat much sugar or fruit as a rule, but this morning I felt nauseous and a bit fevery with a bad headache. So I was going too fast. I relieved my symptoms completely by adding one slice of bread and a small piece of apple to my steak dinner. People really need to transition slowly onto this WOE so they don't get sick. The carb addiction is no joke.
This is so perfect timing for me! Thank you! Getting back on track and working with a psychologist to help me work through what triggered a 6 month binge on carbs.
Hi Dr Berry. Turns out after some months of Ketogenic protocol, I was getting muscle cramps in my legs and feet. I now survive better with meat and two veg (no grains or sugar). BW Alex
This was a great discussion. I am a carb addict and it has been very difficult to manage. Yes, the mental component is the huge problem. However, I disagree about fat in nature. Wild game is not very fatty. GRAIN fed cattle is fatty. 😉 Farm raised ducks are very fatty, not wild ones. Cold water fish are oily, salmon, etc.
Thank you both for living a walking your talk and helping us who are looking to take control of our health a real chance to integrate a healthy life saving lifestyle instead of endless diets and medications. Truly life changing stuff, thank you for your positivity and compassion and dedication
This is fantastic so informative - I am doing intermittent fasting for 5 days and lost 3 kilos so far 18:6 and feel great- no sugar and eating well - lots of water . I was carbohydrate addicted- Video shared with all my friends
My desire for sugar and flour never goes away. I am on keto but I think about these carbohydrates several times a day - EVERY day. It never goes away. I think this must be what it is like to be an alcoholic. It's awful!
DR. Berry, I love these extended conversations you have on videos with other experts who are specialists in their medical field. This gentleman and the Cardio surgeon you had on another video have taught me a lot and helps to reinforce the "Keto lifestyle.
WOW! This is one of the best videos I've ever seen! So much helpful info! And so many of us have "issues" that we self-medicate with sugar and carbs, maybe dealing this way with these issues our whole lives. Time to find some new hammers to deal with those issues, like walking, music, learning something new, etc. I really took all that in. Thank you Dr. Berry and Dr. Cywes, for sharing this encouraging info.
Been ketovore (95% carnivore with occasional extras like avocado, chocolate and coffee) for 10 months. Made a venison stew this week, added a tin of chopped tomatoes to thicken it and made a kumara buttery mash to go with it. First time I've eaten tomatoes and potatoes like this for at least 6 months. OMG, my whole body aches today. I'd forgotten was it was like to be in constant pain. It's not just the carb addiction that made me change what I eat, it was the effect of plant toxins as well. Never again.

Please sir, will you do a video on the carnivore diet and fatty liver? Is fatty liver a risk of carnivore?
KenDBerryMD What are your thoughts on Dr. Robb saying calories matter?

Does one lose weight quick if there is no sugar intake
Please.
Nice read, thanks for sharing!
Spot on!
We're all on the road to discovery. Glad you discovered 😊
yeah under arm thingy is over the top eating carbs ! at first i thought it was i ate Monsanto BUSH beans : )
Humans are NOT made for eating grass!! Veganism is a quasi-religious thing! Pure madness and stupidity!
I'm a 74 year old woman who just started carnivore after being vegan for 30 years.
Just wondering why and what's the result... any diarrhea etc
No way you were full on vegan 30 yrs.. All vegans cheat to avoid death
To go Carnivore, one must eat nose to tail. That includes organ meats, ribs, bacon, ribeye steak, etc.
What Kind of pain do you have when you eat Carbs?
Thanks.

I'm 79 went keto for a while..gained back all but 10lbs of what I lost.. getting back to the right way of eating so I will feel better..
I am a recovering alcoholic who has comming up on 24 years on June 19th. I have been eating keto for 3 1/2 years. I agree 100% eating carbohydrates and sugar was just has hard to give up. Maybe even more because you cant just abstain from eating.
Congratulations on both ! ✌️👍👏

Congratulations 🤗
Agree. I was a smoker. Was much easier to quit smoking, than stop my sugar addiction

@@tinalettieri This is VERY true. I dealt with the same thing when I got sober. If the entire heard is drinking, it CAN'T be bad. If the government says try and eat 50% of your carbs as refined, it CAN'T be bad.
Just like alcohol, or other things, sugar can be a physical, emotional, and spiritual addiction.
Franklin Taylor I wouldn’t say spiritual.. rather hormone wrecking..
Franklin Taylor actually, you’re right. Totally. I take that comment back 🙏🏾
@@No_Frills_Carnivore Thank you Ma'am. 😊
Sugar is addictive, more than heroin..

when you LOVE someone or something you WILLINGLY GIVE UP SOMETHING to keep the relationship healthy and growing. one of the first thoughts I learned from Dr.

My daughter just had bariatric surgery. I sent her this link. Thank you so much!

Get into ketosis;
fortify yourself with can haves,
shift over
remove all grains,
easing into better choices
, add soluble fat,
Add salt to food - real salt
3. No snack, get to OMAD over time to lose weight
4. Rid of fruit. : what remains is avocado, ( berries are a trigger for addictive behaviour)
Later you may have better control and resume
🇿🇦🇿🇦 Great video, thank
you!
Dr Ciwes is extremely articulate and knowledgeable in the realm of addiction.
I won’t live forever but hopefully feel healthy while I’m still here.🤗
I am so grateful to be hearing this that I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out. Thank you so so so so much Dr Ken
2 giants on one video WOW!!.....I am glad Dr Ken was gracious enough to allow Dr. Cywes to speak. He is fired up. Great video.
Awesome video, I love the fact that he said we have to manage our emotions/stress. This is a big part of our health too. Just started keto again for the second time. Trying to get rid of my belly fat which I know stress is a big part of. Snacking is emotional eating, so true.
👍
“Purism is the enemy of addiction”. Amen!!!!!! Luv it!!!! I’m stealing that one 👊👊
This was so helpful in understanding what I’m going through and permission to be imperfect.
Eva Gawrzyjal..Two of the Best..thank you for helping us to save our own lives.
I love bulletproof coffee and lately I’ve heard TH-cam videos stating that bulletproof coffee is not good for you adding the fat. But I love my Kerry Gold butter in my coffee.
Why do the videos say it's bad?
Daily D one is because coffee is made from the bean, which is considered a seed. So as we have learned seeds are not good for us because of the Oxalates. But coffee is considered low in Oxalates. The second is the pesticide sprayed on the coffee beans. Paul Saladino has some TH-cam videos on it. So I’m still drinking my coffee with my butter.
I also only buy organic coffee. My favorite is Peak Performance
Dr Eric Rowland from South Africa
The two of the best Doctors together. Love the way you think and practice.
I'm in Massachusetts Dr Berry. I am a type 1 and have struggled with carb and sugar addiction even after finding keto which helped lower my A1C greatly. I feel it is a drug for sure.
Try zero carb carnivore. As a T1D I did keto for 12 years but carnivore really helped so much more.
I find almost no cravings on carnivore. When doing keto the small amounts of carbs kept me hungry and craving them.
I really enjoy these collaborations Dr. Ken! ❤
Let's COLLABORATE 😁
Dr. Cywes is wonderful! I'll be a new subscriber!
I am just not going to have surgery to fix something I can fix on my own
Man!!!! I could listen to you two talk all day
I just started transitioning into the carni diet and I was really surprised when the carb withdrawals hit me on day 5.
Awesome point about identifying the emotion you are feeling and redirect the response! Good stuff!
EASILY my favorite livestream. So many valuable information said here
This is so perfect timing for me! Thank you! Getting back on track and working with a psychologist to help me work through what triggered a 6 month binge on carbs.
Are you carnivore or keto? How are you doing on the transition?
Hi Dr Berry. Turns out after some months of Ketogenic protocol, I was getting muscle cramps in my legs and feet. I now survive better with meat and two veg (no grains or sugar). BW Alex
This was a great discussion. I am a carb addict and it has been very difficult to manage. Yes, the mental component is the huge problem. However, I disagree about fat in nature. Wild game is not very fatty. GRAIN fed cattle is fatty. 😉 Farm raised ducks are very fatty, not wild ones. Cold water fish are oily, salmon, etc.
Sherrie Livingston farm raised isn’t good, wild is good
Amber Rose Right. Wild caught salmon and other fish. 👍 Hard to find where I live, however.
Thank you both for living a walking your talk and helping us who are looking to take control of our health a real chance to integrate a healthy life saving lifestyle instead of endless diets and medications. Truly life changing stuff, thank you for your positivity and compassion and dedication
This video made a big impact on my life! I plan to relisten to this. Thanks!!!
Thanks again Doc. I've been on keto for 9 months, less than 50 grams of carbs a day, no snacks between meals. Definitely works for me 🙂
Brilliant! Great information. I love the word "bridge". Perfect! Thank you both!
It's awful!
cshula1 you must still have some hidden sugar that you’re eating. Carefully check the ingredients of what you eat
try balancing fats, protein and carbs. if this feels awful, it is not working for you. nor is it healthy.
this was fantastic!!! thank you both
This is a very stressful time for us all, stay safe, stay well and stay strong.

DR. Berry, I love these extended conversations you have on videos with other experts who are specialists in their medical field. This gentleman and the Cardio surgeon you had on another video have taught me a lot and helps to reinforce the "Keto lifestyle.
What? Two of my favorites in one place? What a treat! Im a complete addict
Thanks for everything, this was a fantastic discussion.
These two gentlemen embody the phrase "Physician heal thyself."
Love this!!! The first time I saw Dr Robert My first thought was you two need to get together. Similar stories and personality.
Please more of this! I learned so much!
