Thank you for this!! It’s great, so helpful!! I got this saw about a month ago but have never had a chain saw or used one much. Am trying to read the directions, but they weren’t very clear. I came on here and found this review right away!! So helpful!! Thank you so much😊
Thank you! My chain had come all the way off. So I took it apart yet couldn't get it re-connected. Until I watched your video! Good job. Anyway, I love this model for little home jobs. I have a TON of large trees and branches are always falling down. This Craftsman works great for those size limbs. 4.5 Stars. Half star deduction because it gets oily easily
I find all craftsman battery tools work better with a 4 amp hour battery or higher.I find the bigger battery size provides more working power.Just my 2 cents worth.👍
Same here. I use the 2 amp hour batteries for small non-sawing projects like a little bit of fastening or something. I use 4, 6, or 9 for medium-heavier duty projects.
saw this on sale at ace for $120, looked up your video and decided to get it. so far so good the little i used. i wanted some for light work that i didn't have to mess with that much.
I have a question! Do you have another video or can you explain how the chain tension should look and feel? My family just bought that same craftsman and I was just trying to figure that out right now. I have it taut, not too tight but not loose either, no hammock looking chain
The internal gears on mine stripped out. The metal the gears are made from is inferior. Many others mentioned that the teeth in their gears stripped out too.
I did this with mine after about 8 months of regular use. I had several batteries, so I bought another one which. also had the gear come loose and fall off after one month. I returned it and they replaced it for free. Several months after this the gear fell off again. I like the saw and am considering getting another since they are on sale, since I have many batteries which allows me to cut a lot of honey suckle and burn these out even faster. Battery technology is awesome. Basic craftsman saw technology has slipped and needs to be addressed by the company. . I hate the idea of cheap disposable plastic technology ending up in landfills.
Glad to see this low maintenance technology finally get into the market. I hope to live to see internal combustion completely go out of business. The constant maintenance on gas powered anything is absolutely ridiculous.
It’s good that this stuff is low maintenance. However I personally don’t want gas technology to go out of business or be unobtainable. Battery and Electric may be comparable to low-mid range gas equipment. But anything above 60cc in my experience needs gas because we don’t currently have the technology to make electric that high powered. But all in all, I see where you’re coming from and I always appreciate the feedback!
@@pioneerguy714 Oil companies have been trying to withhold these technologies since the 1920s. It's only a matter of time before the technology gets so cheap they won't be able to withhold it much longer. We definitely have electric motors that have more torque than internal combustion. It's just not marketed yet, but it will be, and when it does, Im going to throw a fucking party.
@@pioneerguy714 Gas technology has been milked for over 100 years. It's time for it to die. They have electric motors that go well above 60cc, it's just not marketed in lawn equipment yet. Gas still has it's tentacles deep in the market. For now.
I got a husqvarna 120 mk 2, not because I really wanted one. I did want it, but it was 80% off, so I got a really good price on it. I'm hoping it is a good saw. what do you think of that saw?
So i have 3 gas saws all Husqvarna but just bought this one to cut downed limbs or just in case I had to cut in the middle of the night and didn't want to bother the neighbors. As I was cutting I was thinking this saw needed to be upgraded because it just didn't do it for me. Glad I saw this video will be changing the chain and getting a different battery. Still thinking about making some metal teeth to dig into the tree for a better grip.
Would you give a description of the replacement chain upgrade. It’s a year since posted video & the link no longer works. Thank you for the review. It helped me out a lot.
I think tomorrow I’ll do just that w the added upgrades , I run my own small construction/ remodeling, don’t like to get the gas stihl out for small stuff or getting in the air w it so I like a smaller battery saw thx again
@@donwaldroopoutdoors3665 No problem. Note that I did burn out this saw though and had to replace it under warranty. I accidentally pushed it too hard. It’s still a great saw though for light duty work use, trail work and small trees. Just don’t abuse it to much and you’ll be golden 👌
I can’t believe they sell this chaninsaw with a 2ah battery with a straight face. I’d rather buy it as tool only for cheaper. I only use a 9ah battery with craftsman outdoor tools.
I liked your video and subscribed to your channel. Well done and easy to understand. I see you have boots on which is really smart. You should also wear some decent leather gloves and eye protection. The last thing you need is for someone to hurt themselves after watching one of your videos and then add your name to the list of persons and companies to sue. Yes, they probably will not prevail in the action against you but the trouble and court costs is something you want to avoid.
bought it. No one said it needed oil. What oil? whos oil? how much oil? The box said nothing about oil! Trying to find it in the unfriendly users guide. Good grief, does any oil do? wo w 30? sewing machine oil? come one craftsman, seems to crafty for me. Overview good but what oil goes in it? changing chains? Really? Im still looking for the proper oil. Who knew a battery operated device oil? They could have thrown in a plastic bottle of its first oil. in the box. Craftman not so crafty.
The only oil needed for the saw is standard bar and chain oil. I would not recommend using oil that is not specifically designed for use with bars and chains. Any good quality chain oil should work. Terrible for real work, can't beat gas or electric corded
Thank you! Your vid was very helpful. Will be buying this chainsaw and upgrade for it.
Great, thorough review. I like your fluffy hair.
Thanks. You've helped me decide. 👍

That’s awesome! You should! They’re coming out with a 12 inch brushless saw!
Awesome thanks for review. Just got one. BTW you look like Chase Stokes the actor.

This is why the internet is good.
Can this be upgraded to use a 15 or 16 inch blade and chain?

Thanks bro! Btw you remind me of Jon B from OUTTER BANKS
I’ve often been told that lol. You’re welcome!
Is there any way you can post a video on how to change the chain? Thank you!
No problem!
8/4/2024. I just purchased that saw. What is the best way to clean the wood chips from being the chain and what should I use ?
Compressed air and a small detail brush works great
What oil do you use? Just got one and it didn't come with any, nor can I find in the instructions what to use in it.
Can you give me your opinion between the craftsman 10 vs 12 inch chainsaw
To be fair with the battery you should wait a few minutes to allow the voltage to recover a bit.
After cutting just 1

Awesome review.
Please give the order number for the replacement chain you spoke of and maybe the link too. Thank you.
Will do 👍
I got it up in the description now 👍
@@pioneerguy714The link is broken. Can you please provide brand and part number or description of the type of chain?
I liked the tip about the smaller chain teeth. Makes sense. What kind of oil do you use for that saw?
ProSelect Bar & Chain Oil. But any good quality bar and chain oil will suffice.
Thanks for the badass review
Does it come with oil? Thanks
Do you have any idea if you can add a slightly longer bar? Like a 14inch?
I personally wouldn’t recommend it. Im sure it could pull a 14 inch bar, but with it you risk burning out the motor as a result.
Mine doesn’t seem to be oiling itself
With a higher amperage battery it will work even better with more power.
What kind of oil did you put in it? 2-cycle or bar and chain?
Any good quality bar and chain oil
do you have to add oil before you use it? I don't see that in the video
Yes. I do add it. I forgot to clarify that
Nice 👍
Good review thanks a lot !
Why cut live tree cut dead ones not live ones
Your links no longer work, FYI

OMG... You did not show how to "oil it up". Otherwise, I really like the video. Thanks.
No problem. It’s pretty self explanatory. Thanks for the feedback though!
