I had a similar issue (5:30) with my t540i and took it into Madsens in Centralia WA. The mechanic said that saw dust had accumulated in the throttle, so when I squeezed the trigger the electric components weren’t making contact. I just make sure to blow that out whenever I clean the saw and it hasn’t been an issue since. Keep up the great content, man.
August, this was fantastic! You perched us way up high for a nice view of you clearing your way to the top. I've tried a bit of that camera placement-climbing up to set the camera and back down to work-so I definitely appreciate the effort you put in to put together a masterful video-I've got a long way to go to put together better videos. It sure is fun though!

I have dialed my kill kit in…travel with it….work in different states, take my 9 yr old son with me now..In some areas of US - you do 3 smaller jobs like this in a day and have a surprising great income (affluent). …and folks love it when you swoop in, get it done…this vid and the one in the Cedar (Makita) you felt free…very cool. I love my Kobalt Pole Saw - 80-volt - 5-ah battery - 10" Bar - 6 ft / 8ft foot Pole Saw. No cable. Using an Oregon Bar and Chain. I have been using it for more than 3 years now. It works great on my southeast Louisiana farm clearing property that a hurricane went through and trashed all the trees in the woods of our 20-acre farm. I carry it all over our woods and the battery lasts a long time. Today I'll be cutting a 6-inch limb off of a tree out front. I am also using (2) Kobalt 80 volt 18" Bar Chainsaw and using the 5 AH Batteries. Cuts huge logs great. The first one wound up in a puddle and stopped working but after a couple of weeks and it had dried out, it started working again.

My truck was down for a bit and I started rockin' the wife's minivan. I was surprised at how nice it was for a climbing rig. The only downside was that I had to put my gas saws in one of the other trucks going to the site.

4:00 as a crew leader, they way you guys just spoke to each other is one good reason you guys are in good business. I worked for the biggest company on montreal Island and whenever I had to call the owner(boss) who happened to buy the company and didnt have any experience in the past in terms of tree work. So whenever I had to call him, he was just so snippy all the time and realy cold. Hanging up on me without saying goodbye and stuff, I mean this made me not want to call him anymore and as a crew leader I need to speak to my boss for certain things, that was just messed up
I used to work for someone who would walk right by you without even saying Good Morning. Who knows if it's just lack of manners/courtesy or they have issues outside of work. But I didn't work for him that long.....

Nice video August. Most Birches here are river birch and I have never seen mistletoe in any. It's all over our oaks. A video memory showed up in my feed this morning. Shows a friend of ours dropping a huge Tulip Poplar in our yard. Russ was a lumberjack in Oregon. He pointed out where he was going to drop it, and he did. Right on the line.
The only 1/4" .043 bar I've used that lasts a long time is a Cannon Carver. The performance isn't great with the hard nose, but the tip doesn't explode. A few companies are switching to .325 pitch narrow kerf.
Great job, I have to admit I was sad when I learned you let that truck go, but happy that it stayed in the family. Don't feel alone I don't use a snap cut that often either. I find it to be a waste of time as well. Stay safe my friend and I'll catch you on the next one.
I love the truck that Jacob (from GuiltyofTreeson) has. I always wanted at utility truck like that, something you can store all of your tools in the correct places with locable doors so you know that your kit is safe. Maybe even have a toeing hitch adapter on the front and back so that you can hook a winch up to it as well. I don't like the open nature of the back of the truck (Jacob has a bar that he slides through all of the rear handles of the saws so he can lock them in place, but still not keen on that). My solution would be a ridged with 2 doors, a bit like a wardrobe lieing on it's back. Lockable and safe for all my random kit that I 150% know that I'd end up getting 😂😂 A crew cab version would probably work really well for you, too 👍👍👍👍
Love the new custom saddle! Been doing tree work for almost two years and really enjoying my time, hope to be doing it for a long time so I appreciate all the new regulations and safety what-have-you’s but something can be said for when you’re footing the bill for gas and time for doing things in an efficient manner you’ve learned just about your whole life. Appreciate the videos, would love to see some more pruning advice videos personally

Something like Reon Rounds setup may work, a roof rack with the aero rec equip thule topper, puts all his climb gear, PPE, saws, and a bit a rigging equip in it...
My thoughts are a short bed pick-up truck with a topper. Keeps your equipment out of the weather. Keeps the fumes, gas, and bar oil spills out of the passenger compartment. Bonus points if the topper has side windows that open. You can also hang your ropes and saddles up so they stay out of any messes on the floor of the bed. Tint the windows dark and lock it up if theft is a problem in your area.

A one ton pickup is essential for small jobs like that. All the tools in the truck and no saw dust in the car. My four man gang is three in the Toyota crew cab with the chip box. Me in the Isuzu crew cab with the tools and a chipper. I can finish the cutting and leave them to tidy and unload, then send them home while I fix all the broken toys.
Sometimes I wish I worked for a skilled climber but I got paid great to be a highly productive bucket baby for someone who wouldn’t do the bucket work himself, his dad started the company. I’ve probably only climbed maybe 20 trees but now I’m self employed again I’m going to get some climbing gear and do what I can when I can’t get a lift to the jobs. I’ll probably never be as good as climber as August but I humbly admit I’m similar skill level at cutting.
I am just a home owner and I switched to battery powered saws, but they not fit for a professional use out in the middle of the woods. About 11 or 12 cuts on a 20" diameter oak is all I can got with a Stihl MSA300, for a day work I with need a truck load of batteries. The saws are great no doubt about but battery technology still light years away.
Great one = *AUGUST* ! You've got SUCH a way of putting us (not just the camera) in the tree with you and you talk & it feels I'm on a limb across from you! How long did it take for YOU to develop that technique? And it sounds like you have a cold so take care of that. And that saw seemed to do a good job (once you beat it!)

I had a 2020 Nissan Frontier 4x4 long box for a couple years. It was nice but I always wondered about long-term reliability with the new generation motor and 9sp transmission. Weird circumstances had insurance total it out. A sign that I wasn't meant to have a new vehicle like that and so I'll either get an old 2wd GMC/Chevy long box to daily drive or else maybe an older S10. Something to keep the miles off of my '03 Dodge Cummins. I may have to get my 93 Dodge back from my brother as I more enjoy a mechanical diesel.
I commented on your last vid, about the makita, and how my 18v makita is OK for what it is. However! One of the main annoyances it has is that when the sarea under the "clutch cover" where the sprocket is gets ful of oily sawdust, it causes the saw to not want to start. Kind of like how that 36v makita won't start if the bar is touching something. It's like if there is ANY resistance ( chain too tight can do it too) the thing won't even spin up. So maybe that's what was going onwith this one at the beginning of the video!
That Husky is solid, it’s just still too heavy for my taste. I’m waiting for the battery equivalent of the echo 2511 power to weight ratio to come out, and it will happen. The technology will catch up.
5:38 I had the act thing happen when I was at Davey. I was not as patient as you though. I swapped saws. When I got back to the shop I told the manager and when I went to show him it worked fine... Never happened again🤷🏼♂️
Love my Toyotas. Had a Tacoma, thing was great. Just get a 6 ft bed with an extended cab for a little extra storage but not having a limo of a truck lol
BTW A custom hunting saddle that is a little more comfortable than what is available might sell well. Tethrd and Aero Hunter make the ones I'm familiar with. That would be a big market to crack into.
I have never understood why they don't make an optional belt mounted battery pack with a short coiled cord to the tool. That way most of the battery weight is on your hip, not your arm!
Ok it might be the best battery chainsaw but you had to beat it up to get it to work! LOL glad it finally did work and got the job done. I enjoyed watching you do this job. See you at the next job site!
I started using camel packs for water instead of water bottle holders. Ever try those? It worked really slick! I wonder if that's something that could be somehow built into the harness. Anyway, probably a stupid idea - but I sure love being able to just sip on water all day long with just a bite valve. Keep up the great videos!
Id be interested to see what bar you go for next. I love the 16" on my 540i but sick of the nose splitting I am on my 3rd. The quality doesn't seem to be there but not much else on the market.

Oh no one can never have too many cubes! I have a soft spot for the 454, built one for my 78 Chevy with a short duration high lift cam and Edelbrock Performer intake. I don't know how the stock axle survived, the torque was intense. I got better mileage than the small block that I took out.

Have a 2012 Tacoma, Toyota replaced the frame free of charge 3 years ago( yes it was past warranty) due to rust proofing problem. Dealer had the frame changed in 4 days! Toyota has my loyalty. The phone call to pick up my truck after oil change/tire rotation and then oh, we have to replace your frame. Wait what!!! I asked if they could drop the engine when they’re changing the frame but had to settle for 1/3 new truck. Toyota baby!!!
do you ever worry about the line that suspends above you accidentally putting your spike into the part that hangs beneath you as you're spiking in? I see it dangling under your feet and it looks like you could accidentally spike it, I saw one dude have a Caribiner behind him attached to his harness to rerout the dangle.
Ever seen mistletoe growing off of mesquite, probably not, but here in NE Texas where I live, I've got, or had several of them infested with it. It's since been the demise of them, as I believe that's what killed them off. Normally we take them out on pastures here, but I believe that animals need the little shade that a few of them can provide for the black beast to hide under in the mid day heat. Although there not much, and they are messy, being a bit brittle dropping limbs everywhere. Yet I prefer them to either the cedar, or the elm trees that have invaded with them to take over the native species that were here originally. As for the snap cut, it's what one is use to using, then they are use to that in their normal days methodology of tree work, and you are aware of this method, but have developed your own set of methods used in tree work. Same as in any other trade, where we all maybe aware of how someone else goes about the same trade, it's different slightly from region to region, are country to country. That said somewhere along the paths each took they took the best from one, but adapted others, or created a version that was better suited for what they had to work with. No one truthfully can say slight versions of basic everyday practices is more efficient than the other, but what makes it so for either person is what they use daily, and that makes it in each person's mind appear so to them. That said, as long as each person gets the same task done in an efficient manner, and it doesn't slow or harm those around them while working alone that's fine, but when working as a team, there has to be a standard that everyone on site knows the process without having to think or be explained every move, otherwise it has to flow with nothing more than just a basic plan this is what has to be done, and everyone flows accordingly. Instead of one doing something totally different than the majority of the team. Team work makes for a great day at work, verses individually going in different directions trying to achieve the same task. Makes everyone look like a bunch of pre K kids at recess first week of school. Not so great a day, and makes everyone a little grumpy being on different daily routines than they were last week under mom's care. Best way I can describe how it works, and after many years of being in charge of large groups of construction workers. I've discovered dealing with them whether they are men or women of various ages, they're a lot like dealing with grade school children in the way they act, and how you deal with them on individual basis. That's not to say everyone of them, but then on occasions it can be everyone of them too. Including ourselves if the truth was told, as we are still the same little kid inside, but just in a bigger body, and occasionally more experience to deal with adult thinking. LOL, watch and see what this brings to the comments section, but I'm afraid that the truth is painful, and not everyone will willing admit it is what it is.
Hey, if you figure out what caused your Chainsaw stoppage... please do a short video about it. I'm just a home owner, but I was using one of the OG Chainsaws from Dewalt, & had the chain come off at the worst possible time while trimming some small trees, multiple times. (Diameter 15") I own a Husqvarna 435 X torq.. and I've never had issues with a chain coming off except once where I didn't have the tension set correctly. But that battery saw from dewalt seems like "bad design"...

I bought a Honda element recently and use it for all my boss kit. Works great, got a roof box with all my climbing gear and saws.

This past year I bought a 08 Silverado 1500 all my kit in the back under a hard topper it's nice knowing all my bits of kit has its own place

That Husky is solid, it’s just still too heavy for my taste. I’m waiting for the battery equivalent of the echo 2511 power to weight ratio to come out, and it will happen. The technology will catch up.
Starting out, I tried the Makita 36V but it didn't take long before I bought a 2511t!
I got the echo 2500. I like how light and quiet it is. The down side is the 2.5mah battery doesn’t last that long so I got another one to swap out.
Milwaukee fuel is the way to go

5:38 I had the act thing happen when I was at Davey. I was not as patient as you though. I swapped saws. When I got back to the shop I told the manager and when I went to show him it worked fine... Never happened again🤷🏼♂️
Love my Toyotas. Had a Tacoma, thing was great. Just get a 6 ft bed with an extended cab for a little extra storage but not having a limo of a truck lol
BTW A custom hunting saddle that is a little more comfortable than what is available might sell well. Tethrd and Aero Hunter make the ones I'm familiar with. That would be a big market to crack into.
The MB 1.0 is more comfortable than any hunting saddle ever made. This saddle was MADE FOR THIS!
I have never understood why they don't make an optional belt mounted battery pack with a short coiled cord to the tool. That way most of the battery weight is on your hip, not your arm!

Ok it might be the best battery chainsaw but you had to beat it up to get it to work! LOL glad it finally did work and got the job done. I enjoyed watching you do this job. See you at the next job site!
I started using camel packs for water instead of water bottle holders. Ever try those? It worked really slick! I wonder if that's something that could be somehow built into the harness. Anyway, probably a stupid idea - but I sure love being able to just sip on water all day long with just a bite valve.

Id be interested to see what bar you go for next. I love the 16" on my 540i but sick of the nose splitting I am on my 3rd. The quality doesn't seem to be there but not much else on the market.
Where does it split? I'm new and haven't heard of that issue yet.

Oh no one can never have too many cubes! I have a soft spot for the 454, built one for my 78 Chevy with a short duration high lift cam and Edelbrock Performer intake. I don't know how the stock axle survived, the torque was intense. I got better mileage than the small block that I took out.

Tacoma, Toyota replaced the frame free of charge 3 years ago( yes it was past warranty) due to rust proofing problem. Dealer had the frame changed in 4 days! Toyota has my loyalty.
The phone call to pick up my truck after oil change/tire rotation and then oh, we have to replace your frame. Wait what!!! I asked if they could drop the engine when they’re changing the frame but had to settle for 1/3 new truck. Toyota baby!!!

do you ever worry about the line that suspends above you accidentally putting your spike into the part that hangs beneath you as you're spiking in? I see it dangling under your feet and it looks like you could accidentally spike it, I saw one dude have a Caribiner behind him attached to his harness to rerout the dangle.

Ever seen mistletoe growing off of mesquite, probably not, but here in NE Texas where I live, I've got, or had several of them infested with it.
It's since been the demise of them, as I believe that's what killed them off.
Normally we take them out on pastures here, but I believe that animals need the little shade that a few of them can provide for the black beast to hide under in the mid day heat.
Although there not much, and they are messy, being a bit brittle dropping limbs everywhere.
Yet I prefer them to either the cedar, or the elm trees that have invaded with them to take over the native species that were here originally.
As for the snap cut, it's what one is use to using, then they are use to that in their normal days methodology of tree work, and you are aware of this method, but have developed your own set of methods used in tree work.
Same as in any other trade, where we all maybe aware of how someone else goes about the same trade, it's different slightly from region to region, are country to country.
That said somewhere along the paths each took they took the best from one, but adapted others, or created a version that was better suited for what they had to work with.
No one truthfully can say slight versions of basic everyday practices is more efficient than the other, but what makes it so for either person is what they use daily, and that makes it in each person's mind appear so to them.
That said, as long as each person gets the same task done in an efficient manner, and it doesn't slow or harm those around them while working alone that's fine, but when working as a team, there has to be a standard that everyone on site knows the process without having to think or be explained every move, otherwise it has to flow with nothing more than just a basic plan this is what has to be done, and everyone flows accordingly.
Instead of one doing something totally different than the majority of the team.
Team work makes for a great day at work, verses individually going in different directions trying to achieve the same task.
Makes everyone look like a bunch of pre K kids at recess first week of school.
Not so great a day, and makes everyone a little grumpy being on different daily routines than they were last week under mom's care.
Best way I can describe how it works, and after many years of being in charge of large groups of construction workers.
I've discovered dealing with them whether they are men or women of various ages, they're a lot like dealing with grade school children in the way they act, and how you deal with them on individual basis.
That's not to say everyone of them, but then on occasions it can be everyone of them too.
Including ourselves if the truth was told, as we are still the same little kid inside, but just in a bigger body, and occasionally more experience to deal with adult thinking.
LOL, watch and see what this brings to the comments section, but I'm afraid that the truth is painful, and not everyone will willing admit it is what it is.

I'm just a home owner, but I was using one of the OG Chainsaws from Dewalt, & had the chain
come off at the worst possible time while trimming some small trees, multiple times. (Diameter 15")
I own a Husqvarna 435 X torq.. and I've never had issues with a chain coming off except once where
I didn't have the tension set correctly. But that battery saw from dewalt seems like "bad design"...
Almost certainly it’s a case of sawdust getting into the trigger system. This will prevent the circuit completing to start saw.
