This was a top-tier Direct. Updates were substantial (the Splatoon 3 one sold me on the game). There were multiple “big games” announced/shown. Legacy content got a lot of love. There were legit shadow drops of games that people have been asking for. There were surprises. We even got a visit from Miyamoto! The E3 Direct was hard to beat because of Metroid Dread but I think this Direct may have been better.

I expect games they already shown in last e3 showing to be talking about again with the games coming closer to release. I seem to noticed that Square seems bringing a lot of games in this direct. Plus smash and animal crossing has their own direct coming so we shall see.

Remember, Illumination Studios is owned by Universal. Universal also owns Jurassic World so it makes sense that Chris Platt was chosen. Same with Jack Black as Dreamworks who made the Kung Fu Panda movies is also owned by Universal.
To be fair, Dreamworks wasn’t acquired by universal back when kung fu panda came out, and none of the three movies were published by universal, though I get that they own it now

For real... the more I think about it, the more I'm totally on board with it! Also, hidden behind that is Nintendo showing some kind of willingness to go in a different direction with Mario. We're getting new voices in this movie. Maybe one day we'll get a new Mario game in a different art style.

That Kirby game, I was literally saying "don't be 2d, don't be 2d, we have so many 2d kirby games" then I see z axis movement and I start pumping my arms in the air. Didn't realize how much i cared about a 3d Kirby game that has some budget behind it. 3. Castlevania Advance Collection makes me very happy. Between that and the Mega Man Z/ZX collection, once we get the DS castlevania games, we will have a legal way for me to own all the games in the series I want to play (ie the Iga action rpg style ones) As a person not spoiled on this. There was a lot here and a lot to love!

Solid direct ... Switch has pretty great lineup for the rest of the year (following E3) and this direct gave a great indication of what's ahead! Great stuff :D

That final fantasy magic tier factoid was totally wrong. FFXI went up to tier 5 spells since NA release, and is at least tier 6 at the moment.
