Kevin Harlan is the PA announcer 7:25. Back then he did KC Chiefs football and Missouri football and basketball on radio. Later that year he joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as their Radio/TV announcer. 22 years later Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Harlan became colleagues at TNT. They recently worked NBA All-Star Weekend
I played with Percy Covington at VMI (point guard with George Lynch and Curtis Blair in high school)...I think they won Va state championship in 1988. Percy was a great guy...wow...memories.
Shaq was a Bayonne boy. Newark too. I just looked at again his 6th-grade class picture with my brother’s wife while they were at a midtown Bayonne school. He was the tall cat.
Anthony Cade was from New York City as well but went to Oak Hill….so 5. But it goes to tell you just cause you a McDonald’s All American don’t mean you automatically in the NBA.
John Wooden was a prophet, 3 decades later, and his sentiments regarding too much individualism and showmanship in the game of basketball, couldn't be any more spot on, with today's game, especially at the NBA level...
Problem is lack of bigs because it takes time to learn post moves and aau and other basketball program don’t hone in skills. Team ball is going away and more atheltic shooting and more possessions in the nba are coming in. The international players I respect them for having skilled bigs
Do you happen to have the 1990 or 1991 McDonald's All-Star Games? As a native Hoosier, I have never seen those games on YT, so if you have them, it would be nice. 😃
If I had stayed with it I would played in this game but it's all good my son will play in the 2026 all American game so y'all remember this name d-man Westbrook
I'm 50 years old and love watching these old games more than anything!! Thanks for the treasure! Jim Jackson looks like he's 30 years old. Grown man.
I love these too! We were growing up in the greatest era in basketball (IMO)
The 1991 class was awesome as well.
Me to
Remember staying up late to watch this in England. I would go on to play professionally in Europe with Jamal Faulkner in 2000.
I've had this stashed away on a dvd for the last 12 years or so. Didn't realize you couldn't find it anywhere on the internet.....til now! Enjoy!
Happen to have the '81 gme?
What about the 1986, 1991, or 1993?
Daryl Woodard sure don't, sorry!
Idan Solon sure don't, sorry!
I been lookin for this for years ...thanx
Take in the fact Shaq just turned 17 a month prior to this game. So he was a top hs player at 16.
I like the Bobby Brown don't be cruel music in the background that made it more dope.
It was the 80's cherry on top

Kevin harlan just mentioned this during tonights Blazers vs Spurs game, glad i found this video.
14:45 Play of the game: Shaq goes coast-to-coast
I had the players (courtesy of Ebony magazine) posted on my wall. Kenny Anderson was my childhood idol. He didn’t play in this game though.
There was probably no better era for college ball. Dick Vitale and the espn crew were all top notch.
The birth of a legend!
George lynch was great! From my hometown and a national champion plus he played in the NBA. I’m honored
I played with Percy Covington at VMI (point guard with George Lynch and Curtis Blair in high school)...I think they won Va state championship in 1988. Percy was a great guy...wow...memories.
They won state in 1988, then we won it all in 1992.
There were 3 players plus a NJ Boy who Represented the Tri State area in that game. R.I.P. Conrad McRae Aka McNasty.
Anderson, McRae, Hurley and who else off the top.... Faulkner and Barnes
1990 we had 4 McDonald all Americans just from NYC and Jamal Mashburn did not make it
@@brooklynlace5503damn 😱

This is pure gold...
I was at this game. Good old Kemper Arena.
Gary Bender is such an outstanding announcer.
Hurley shouldve been a starter from the very beginning
Love this! Thanks for posting!
Matt Wenstrom and all-American . . . lol . . . he went to UNC and sat on the bench for 4 years.
This is awesome!
Vital was all in on Hurley….😂
Ahhhh yeah nice to see these game's
Best prospect in this game is obviously Shaq. Second best is the PA announcer Kevin Harlan.
I can remember how this went down the first time(s)
John Wooden was a prophet, 3 decades later, and his sentiments regarding too much individualism and showmanship in the game of basketball, couldn't be any more spot on, with today's game, especially at the NBA level...
Nobody:
Announcer referencing Shaq: "Boy he is just a young thoroughbred"
1:37:53 Jerry West.
shaq was a a freak of nature on the court
I agree! He was just as freakish as Zion Williamson.
@Greg Hubbard compared to Stanley Roberts, Shaq was raw.
How in the hell was LSU so mediocre with Shaq, Stanley Roberts, and Chris Jackson?
Dale Brown. Good recruiter, mediocre coach.
THE GAME WAS GOOD BACK THEN
@@amphymixis-he took them to 2 Final Fours.
14:53-To this day, it is still one of the most impressive feats I've seen in basketball-the DIESEL!!🎦😧😧🦾
I wish basketball was still a game ruled by big men!
The big men are back, baby! Jokic and Embiid finished first and second in MVP voting
Problem is lack of bigs because it takes time to learn post moves and aau and other basketball program don’t hone in skills. Team ball is going away and more atheltic shooting and more possessions in the nba are coming in. The international players I respect them for having skilled bigs
Does anybody out there has the full 1990 & 1991 McDonald's All-American games? I have been looking for those for the past few years.
Kevin Harlan was the PA announcer lol
Strange to see Shaq at a “fit & trim” 240 lbs!
Young Shaq
in the original world of only mine i saw this shaquille dunked from free throw line and there was no one ahead pof him.
Luck KA wasn’t in this game because he would got busy in this game
Didn't Hurley take a charge from Shaq in this game? If so anyone know at what point? I can't sit and watch the whole thing for a few days.
Richard Pawlowski first half, not sure when. I think that was his 3rd foul too
30:08
shaq weighing only 240 jus feels like a typo
Do you happen to have the 1990 or 1991 McDonald's All-Star Games? As a native Hoosier, I have never seen those games on YT, so if you have them, it would be nice. 😃
Randy Dubin sure don't, sorry!
Shaq game changed after he got to the NBA.
If I had stayed with it I would played in this game but it's all good my son will play in the 2026 all American game so y'all remember this name d-man Westbrook
Alice Sanders Nah playa .... closest you got was eating a mcflurry
Alice Sanders, you play college ball?
Wish Kenny would’ve been able to play😔💪🏾
31 pts 22 reb lol what a monster average
Whats with the mosquito in the background??
Does anyone know if pearl Washington played in the McDonald's game
Yes,1983 Game
The Players here were the best in the country. Yet, only a few made it big. Study hard and save your money young people !
Jordan got robbed of the MVP
Kemper Arena
Penny Hardaway was #1 in this class
@Erik Tucker No that was next year's class. And Penny did not play in the McDonald's game.
Yep.
Penny Hardaway or Grant Hill #1 in 1990. Penny didn't play in the McDonald's game because I think he got shot!! SERIOUSLY
Ha
