It was a joy to work on this project with you, even if my contributions are minor in the grand scheme of things! Once again, you've captured pure artistry here and have left me with both thoughts and emotions to ponder further - a true sign of great artistic work. ❤
big mars mission kid here, iirc the glow sucked in 2008 too. always just assumed the trans-green plastic was too dark to allow any significant amount of light in/out. speaking more generally this video was a banger, you're great at lego topics
@@TheDucksEye oh sick! my first was the aquaraiders set with the lobster, moved on to mars mission the next year with both of the little like... $5(?) astronaut sets in my stocking at christmas. which set was your first?
I thought the colors in Mars mission were neat, likely since I lucked out, though I preferred Life on Mars for more play... even though everything fell apart easily. Mars Mission wins structural integrity there.
@@TheDucksEye I need more of your videos. I come back to this one almost daily. I love the way you build, your creations, and how you use them in stop motion. I love the messy look of it, but at the same time, the builds are really clean. I can't explain it-your builds bring out the hidden child in me, and it's beautiful.
3:59 and here lads, we can see the supposedly set that Robrick was going to review before he disappeared, I really hope that man is okay and nothing bad has happen to him.
38:40 that's a good point. There's lots of fast food toys over the years that had stickers. And generally the toy was played with after the food, so your hands would get sticky from the food and degrade the toys instantly before applying stickers.
@fatratty2876 Perhaps, but when you finish watching the entire chris chan Documentary series. You have that feeling of "oh god, what if I turn into him......" It's like, i want to enjoy the hobby I have, which is Lego. But I guess it's because what I'm currently at. 20 years old, currently in college, for a degree in graphic design and animation. Looking for a job rn during summer. And I feel like I'm awkward in public. Yet those are feelings, and I do my best to socialize.
No amount of high-quality photography, video editing, or special effects can capture the true magic of those clips showing someone building and playing with LEGO. The authenticity and spontaneous joy in those moments are simply unparalleled. Excellent video overall, I'm just highlighting my favourite bits.Your LEGO city and collection are awesome! I think play features are very important. It's easy to make fun of the writing one the box of the LEGO Atlantis Neptune Carrier: "Exciting features: opening doors!", but the truth is those kind of features add a lot of play value to the toy. On another topic, it's similarly as pleasant to find easter eggs and references in a set.
This video was really wonderful! The intro you made for this made me feel so nostalgic. As someone who used to play with my lego quite a bit, but have fallen away from it over the years, it's made me want to bust out my bricks and build some new things just as I would have done when I was young. It's reminded me of why I loved lego and still do!
This was a fun video, felt like a documentary with all the cameos like your classmate and RR Slugger. The archival home videos and memories shared from childhood were charming and insightful. The creations and stop motion really enforce how playable LEGO is. That's an instant sub from me, can't wait to check out more!
39:43 that is unless you try connecting a battery-powered motor to a pull-back motor to wind it up faster than by hand, like I did as a kid, amd effectively destroy both functions.
22:31 YOOOO I LOVE THAT ALBUM SO MUCH OMG nice i also love samurai jack and im surprised you mentioned both Midwest emo and my favorite cartoon in one video
Such a fun video! I remember throwing the lego racers shark-dude out of the window on a handkerchief parachute, which worked nicely. Also fun seeing the scorpion-racer with an actual scorpion-head in this video!
This is such a good video, I enjoyed every second of it! I was one of those kids who paid zero attention to any kind of pre-established stories and characters that Lego made up, and I solely got sets b/c they looked cool and I just made up my own stories. I would mash all kinds of themes together. I had bionicle b/c I thought they were cool looking, never knew their names. I had ninjago b/c the sets were cool, never knew any of the story. I would get random licensed sets that I had no familiarity with the actual media just b/c I liked the set 🤣 I still think I’m like this when it comes to buying toys, if it’s cool looking, I’m intrigued.
2:38 I love Space Police III... but I never knew this set had that feature! I feel like that was NOT advertised well in the catalogue or magazines at the time, given that I didn’t know about it at the time. That makes me wish I had gotten the set!
Really cool and chill video! Most of the sets I have don't have any unusual gaming features, but among them there is a real gem. It is 31031 Creator Parrot, which can eat seeds, and poop them😮
I love how you mentioned glow-in-the-dark. I don't know why but I absolutely love it. I've got a big pick a brick order of glow-in-the-dark stuff waiting for when I get some more money I just love using a blacklight flashlight to make them Glow extra bright
Amazing video! Must have taken you a huge amount of work. It was fun seeing so many sets in here that I remember staring at in catalogues as a kid, and even a few I actually had. I was pretty happy with the Mars Mission alien's glow when it was new, make of that what you will
God only knows what you'd actually receive if you purchased the cursed listing. A little tykes cruiser or a Jack Stone super glider... either way your life will be changed.
19:17 there was official minifig parachute before, with exo-force. Not in actual sets, but in online instructions 33:57 isn't it was tool from crystal king set? 49:27 not exactly true, because in 2000s lego started going green, bricks lost their good clutch power, and tires from 2005 going bad right now

So glad you actually read William Penn for your book report, was beginning to get worried there, whew.
