This is one of my favorite cutscenes, mainly because of how Chief says “Cortana” instinctually, then pauses and looks down in a moment of embarrassment and reflection on the reality that Cortana is gone. Sure, the weapon looks similar, but is still different, and Cortana is truly gone
I first thought of it as Chief attempting to make a point with Cortana, but then went silent because he thought it was futile, or he didn't want to open up about it
Just love how in that moment I think that's the first point at which Chief actually fully realises the extent to which he's projected his grief onto the weapon, and how he's just unable to process everything with Cortana. It's an incredibly raw and beautifully done representation of the grief he would realistically be facing in that moment, not only blaming himself for the awful stuff Cortana ended up doing, but just genuine disbelief at the fact he's never getting his friend back. The simple act of him saying the wrong name, such a tiny, simple and yet super emotive bit of writing that just completely perfects the tone of the scene.
Not embarrassment but because for a second he forgot that that's not cortana, he remembered she's gone
Also this brings back halo 2 and 3 days when the elites where side by side with you
“Excuse me Spartan, is there any way that I could help you resolve this? I am a marriage counselor for my Keep on Suban.”
Just a great cutscene overall. Shows the risk the Chief would take to protect the people that he was supposed to. Phenomenal campaign in my opinion.
In terms of characters, the only campaign I can think was written better was probably 2.
Overall I'd say it's quite solid, especially considering the corner they wrote themselves into after 5

Agree man. Only Halo narrative I prefer is Halo 2. In terms of gameplay it is very good too. Easily 343's best Halo campaign.
Think I only prefer Halo CE and Halo 3 to it from a gameplay perspective.

I just love how his solution to saving the pilot was jump on space ship and start punching, Well I guess for a brick he jumped pretty good

Of all the input 343 gathered in order to revitalize this game series, bringing back Elites as allies or playable characters might’ve been one of the most fan supported

I wish they would come out with a compendium for enemies and weapons, I feel like I only get brief glimpses of the elites design only in game and the HVTs are worse because they despawn as soon as they die if they don’t immediately disentegrate
There is. For a few of them. The new Halo Encyclopedia contains images of a few HTVs and the Elite models.
Goddamn Chief looks so good in Infinite.
What I like so much is that there isn't a height diff between him and the elites no more, he finally is portrayed at their height which is awesome

0:52 Just now hit me that when he said "Cortana" he was probably gonna continue the conversation, cause it was her he was refering to.
At first i thought it was just him about to explain why he can't trust her cause of Cortana, but now i think he may have been about to refer to her as Cortana but stopped himself cause it hurt too much and he was about to reveal to Weapon who she truly was

No, the idea was that he forgot he didn't spoke to cortana but the weapon, in many ways the weapon is too similar to cortana, and that's why the heated argument which chief almost always had with the real cortana reminded him of her and he made the mistake

We should’ve been fighting with the sword of sanghelios, teaming up with them and taking on the banished and finding lost marines would’ve been so much cooler and livelier than being 1 Spartan and taking down an entire faction

I kinda wish there was a point in the campaign where Cortana was taken, and Master Chief would take control of himself regardless of your inputs and rip open forerunner doors like they’re nothing. I think there wasn’t enough savagery and primal instinct from Chief in this game. I mean what we got was awesome, but there is always room for improvement
Chief isn't a savage, he's aaaaaalways in control, I don't think I ever saw chief lose his cool and destroy shit, I can't remember
