People LEAVE the CHURCH if they think it is not right. There are countries where the government is the one who collects the TITHES/Church Tax like Germany. Another wonderful presentation Jason, especially the fine music accompanying your entrance into the basilica which I visited in 1975 wearing my Moroccan jelaba and with my very long hair and beard a priest came up to me and said in Italian, "Jesus Christo, biene biene!" haha. I felt quite chuffed! I visited again in 1990 with my 1969 VW campervan which I managed to park directly in front of the basílica with no other cars. You certainly bring back the memories of this very awesome and spectacular place which show what man, with his belief, could achieve, even so many centuries ago. Btw you would not lose your captive audience even if you made your videos 30 minutes because you are an excellent film maker, with just enough thoughtful and interesting narration. Well done again as I continue to enjoy the memories through your superb videos during this very very crazy period of Covid-19 lockdown.

I have lived in Italy for 12 years. Have had many people visit. Always take them to the Vatican Museum. I can't stand religious sites but do it as a good host. Two things that make my day are the two spots in the main square where if you stand on it/them, the 4 rows of columns become one. Very cool. The other is the Map Room. Being a geographer by education it is just fantastic. And the ceiling is unbelievable. You are there during the pandemic, so no crowds. However, that will change. I always, and I mean always, book a tour. Well worth the money (about 50 euro). No lines. A knowledgeable guide and you get to go everywhere. If you just go without a tour or an advance reservation, the wait is several hours! And on Wednesdays (in normal times), the Pope runs around the square in the Popemobile. Like a rock star.

You have a wonderful eye for videos and photos and your technique in handling the camera and cellphone is very smooth and not jerky/unstable at all. Wonderful views of inside St Peter's basilica but I'm wondering why you didn't get any shots of Michaelangelo's famous Pieta which is near the entrance to the basilica to the right of the doors. Besides the basilica and the museum tours, there is one very special tour you can take underneath the basilica called the Scavi (underground) tour. We did this tour in May 2019 and you go underneath the basilica and see what once were open to air and sky streets with burial chambers of many prominent people who wanted to buried as close as possible to what is believed to be the tomb of Peter. You end up next to what is believed to be Peter's burial chamber which is about 30 feet directly underneath the huge altar in the basilica. If you have time to take this while in Rome, you will be amazed on the tour. Thanks for your wonderful videos; keep them coming.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I thought it was very informative, every time you see the Vatican and the Vatican museums it’s as if you’re seeing them for the first time. Everyone should experience the eternal city.

Probably the best time to visit such place , you will never see the entrance to the Vatican Museum so empty. In normal times, queues would literally start where the wall begins and it can take hours before you eventually access the Vatican Museum

Sry (for my "google-eng" firstly) but it's true who Mussolini built that road (destroying a medieval village) and made an agreement with the Vatican but it's not a independence question, it's much more complex; the Pope considered himself a prisoner of the italian state from 1870 (from the annexation of Rome to Italy to become the capital), this had to be solved and they signed the "Lateran Pacts" (between Mussolini/Italy and the Pope/Vatican).
It's a shortened explanation of a complicated thing, made with google help, sry again (I hope to have explain), ciao and congratulations for the video.
PS What is most fascinating and mysterious in the Vatican unfortunately it cannot be visited by tourists but just by scholars and it's the Vatican Apostolic Archive (it contains all of the transcribed documents in centuries of history).

I am loving your trips in Italy, mate. Have you been to Sicily? I can’t seem to find a video for it, if you haven’t, make sure to include it next time round! It’s a gem 👍🏻 I quote Goethe on that one: “ “To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is not to have seen Italy at all, for Sicily is the clue to everything.” ;)

Youre presentation is so, so soothing and genteel. Watching your videos always relaxes me, especially in these Covid-19 days. Plus!your pronunciation of Italian names is quite good (maybe with the exception of Titian🙃). I love how you just are silent at times, not succumbing to the thought the narrator can never be quiet. It's such a reverential place. Thank you for bringing it to us!
