the fact that Garnt used so many weird rules, the pawn thing in his first match and the draw by repetition, it's such a classic anime thing for the underdog protagonist to win in an unexpected way
Also the fact that he was almost losing by time would be a perfect "5 minutes until the planet explodes" but those 5 minutes take 10 episodes.

Gigg-UK. The comeback kid. OG among OG ani-TH-camrs, left and became a monk. Learned the way of patience and used it to win. Used every other time he has lost as a learning experience and carried that same exp to victory. Typical shonen protag.
JOSH the Anime man (people keep getting his name wrong XD ) Mr. Half-blood prince. The new top dog of the anime TH-camr scene(kind of, in relation to Garnt). Being the new big shot, he still has lots to learn and it showed during the tournament.
CDawg Virginia. Mister 93%. Get's all the girls. Muda muda muda his way throughout his childhood. Child prodigy but ultimately lost to a former monk because anime rules dictate that patience beats whatever fucking skill an opponent has. Typical antagonist.

I'm so sad by the realization that Rustage is a side character that gets taken down by main antagonist early in the arc
He's like Rock Lee so much potential, put in a lot of hardwork, and had a lot of support but his one weakness was not being the main character.
He was the would-be hero that was badly beaten by the antagonist, and that event would later empower the protsgonist in his dire moment of need.
