The Brain player doesn't suggest the piece that makes the best move always, if you deem the move unfindable for your Hand player, or if the risk they make a wrong move instead is too big to take. That doesn't take any credit away from Lud, because he still has to execute what Hess is cooking, but it's something worth appreciating. Hess wasn't the strongest Brain in the tournament, Ludwig wasn't the strongest Hand in the tournament, but they sure as hell were the strongest Hand and Brain in the tournament.
Not gonna lie, it would be so entertaining to see the reverse of this tourney, with youtubers/streamers being the brains and GMs being the hand. It would be so bad with the gms reacting on how to play

This tournament was straight out of the anime. Ludwig fought against almost all of his greatest chess rivals (we are only missing Charlie) and beat them because of the power of friendship.

Even if you don’t like/know chess his streams are worth putting on while doing HW or some other activity bc of how positive and wholesome they are. Hess is such a beast, finding an opening trap of the opponent and it actually works and also, you need good chemestry to pull this off, like he had to find the best move that ludwig would see, that's an insane challenge, and they pulled it off

I also accidentally won a chess tournament once. I was acting too aggressively and got my queen and a bishop in a REALLY bad position, essentially guaranteeing my loss, but then I was like "well, if I can't win, I may as well just delay the inevitable and put him in check at the cost of my queen". I moved my queen to take his pawn, then started to say "cheeeccccck..." before realizing that he couldn't take the queen because my bishop was in the same diagonal, and his rook couldn't take my queen because he castled, so it was on the other side of the king. I continued "...mate?", and that's how I turned a certain second place into a first XD

NL+Lud can play some good chess but overall QT is highly likely to mess it up and Andrea won't know how to play to her strengths and weaknesses.
