So glad I grew up in Colorado and was able to see Tommy play. First was with Zephyr, and later when he had his stint with Deep Purple, I think 1976? Never saw him with James Gang. Still relevant today, and that says a lot considering his short life.
@@jmont8943 You’re SO Lucky!! I’ve read about people in Colorado getting to see Tommy and his band. Yes, it’s so sad he passed at only 25. Yet, he achieved a LOT in his young life. I’d like to have his albums “Teaser” & “Private Eyes,” hope someone surprises me - haha.
I've been waiting for so long to again hear the Echoplex tape delay pyrotechnics Tommy Bolin used on this song at the beginning!! But Joe Walsh was also a pioneer of the use this effect (and Hendrix!!). I've had one all these years that still works, still use it every now and then.
@@curtisphilumalee1447 Ha! Love the way you describe the “boys” Roy Kenner had to have been a gymnast or a trained dancer of some sort, he moves so effortlessly and beautifully. A performance artist.
He’s a better man than me. I wouldn’t have even considered the move in my younger days. More power to him for pulling off the move. I remember seeing David Lee Roth doing some split high kicks during VH Mean Street tour and thinking WTF. Pretty wild stuff.
@@curtisphilumalee1447 Yep! I’ve heard that men can only do the splits that way like DLR? Makes me wonder cause Roy looks like he could go all the way down in a “forward” straight split position. She wanted me to show her the splits as I told her I was in gymnastics when young. I could still do them and couldn’t believe it and about ripped me a new one! Lmbo! @@barcham so I hadn’t heard this song in probably 35 years until today, so I went back and listen to it. After your comment, you’re right the base is that loud on the LP, but the guitar is louder in the mix, although not really loud, but I can barely hear it on the live version? Great song, though I was like this song.
I believe this version of the band is after Joe Walsh left. Tommy Bolin on guitar.
Thanks for that! I wonder which version was more successful?
Ya' think !
I think they released two albums before with Domenic Troiano on guitar.
@@BIGLON-cf1ul They had trouble having hits after Joe left. After a couple of lineup changes they broke up.

Tommy Bolin is taking us for a RIDE🚀 at the VERY beginning!!
He’s so gorgeous too 😍 🤩, the man can sure PLAY that Strat!
This is great. There's not enough live Tommy Bolin footage out there.
I always liked this song. Great performance,
Wow... nice straddle split at the end!
Happy Tuesday... thank you for sharing! 💖
I believe that is Tommy's Strat with a Tele neck. In any event, good stuff. That bass fuzz tone!

CLASSIC ! Thank You
That whole "Bang" lp slaps🎸
Dale Peters & Jimmy Fox are and always will be the balls of James Gang.🤟
Bolin was something else, and i think this was their best song during the period
Can't beat Joe. You can try, but ultimately JW is and was the James Gang.
THANK YOU MIDNIGHT SPECIAL
TOMMY BOLIN!
Thank you.
Tommy Bolin 🙌🏻
Tommy Bolin was a master of the Echoplex. This is about as overdriven a guitar tone as he ever used, but it sounds good.
Thank you!
O vocalista é show aparte. 🎤🎸😎🎶🎶🎶
Tommy was genius on the guitar. Fantastic player.
I wonder if Tommy Bolin was the first to play the Echoplex effect box like an instrument?
He certainly used it all over the Billy Cobham - Spectrum record, so cool!
Tommy saw Rick Derringer use it in 1969!
Maybe better than Walsh band, so great as is his period. Love it!
Great Band, great Song 💛👌
Love Bolin, but the real James Gang was with Walsh
Think they'd have done better staying a trio, less vocals but more Bolin guitar.
Excellent, with Walsh or Bolin!
So not the James Gang. The Tommy Bolin band maybe.
Wow, the end Uchi Woochie
No way would I’ve been getting back up on my feet after jumping off that Acoustic Bass Enclosure. Tea bagging the floor Yikes.
