    Great video Philip thank you! It has been a while since I uploaded to Merch so I am a bit rusty and I am so thankful that I found your channel. I am curious if you ever put multiple designs that are in the same niche under the same brand name or do you always use a unique brand name name for each design? Also, since you put tees in the brand name then does that mean you only upload a design to t-shirts and then upload the design to everything else separately and change the brand name?

    • @PhilipAnders
      @PhilipAnders  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Judy welcome to the channel! I use the same brand name per Niche usually. And no I just post all products under a tees brand. It's just an example, you could also put "apparel" instead of "tees" for example

Can you please suggest to me any free alternative of merch informer as I cannot afford paid versions as a beginner in this field, please tell me an alternate that can also check the trademark and can also help me with finding sub-niches. also I have a question if I am inspired by a design which don't have text and I make it myself , Can a copyright issue occur in this case or not? I have to check for copyright ? kindly answer...thanks

    There's an issue I encountered, for example when having a design for "Night Owls" as one I have, might be difficult to do not repeat the word "night" a couple or more times in the title and feature bullets etc. to reach the potential variety of audience that might be interested to something like that, so I've found myself having to write "Night Shift Nightlife Night Owl" in the title and others... do you think that it penalises my listing? Had the same issue with a book related design, although books weren't exactly the only central topic, I had to write something like "Book Lovers Bookworms". I don't know. What do you think? Thanks and thank you for the great video! :D

    Hi Philip, i've been doing POD for a few years on and off. One of the niches i like to make designs in is football. I have made unique designs for england football, but they keep getting rejected. I have read, and reread the terms and conditions with amazon merch, as well as checking the trademarks using productor, but still they rejected. Can you please clarify what i can create with say a england football design and what i can't do?

    TO Phillip. I have a request for advice, and possible good topic for a easy video for you to make that. I know that you and some other POD designers have literally thousands of designs uploaded to POD sites. Please make a video that discusses best practices on how to name the files used, how to keep those organized, and whether or not you suggest making a "light background" and "dark background" version of each design. From watching some videos, I can see that the "white text on transparent background" can be difficult to see visually as thumbnails, so I suppose good naming of files is critical to find the files you want to upload. And then possibly edit in future to change somehow. Do you use some kind of file naming scheme (codes, etc.) to identify which file is which? Do you keep a layered file "master file" for each design, then make PNG or SVG files of those? Any tips on how to manage so many files that may be duplicative or similar in design (as your retro sunset designs are when scaled)? Also, I have some concerns about saving as a RGB file or as CMYK. I am not sure, but plan on uploading to multiple POD platforms. Do all accept RGB PNG files? Or do some only accept CMYK files? Etc. Any tips or advice on how to manage so many files and variations would be valuable to me (as a beginner in POD). Thanks. If you feel you have already covered this in another video, please provide a link. I have not yet seen this topic covered by any POD focused channel I have seen so far. Thanks.

    • @PhilipAnders
      @PhilipAnders  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes that's a good point, I don't think many people talk about this. I doubt I have the most efficient method out there but I can make a video about it at some point in the future. Quick Summary would be I have seperate folders for each nieche with subfolders if I create alternative colour versions. I only keep PNG files for each design and then I will typically have a central illustrator file for each Nieche that holds all the vectors and design assets I used. As for RGB & CMYK that's one I can answer quickly. I always save in RGB and it's never been a problem for me anywhere.
      The thumbnail thing with white text designs can easily be fixed by using dark mode in your folders. Hope that give you a bit of insight until I make the video :)

    • @steadmanuhlich6734
      @steadmanuhlich6734 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PhilipAnders Yes. Thank you for your quick answers. I have never used "dark mode" in folders. So, that would be a good tip to demonstrate in your future video. :) In fact, I know nothing about that at all (showing my lack of knowledge again). I do think this would make for very helpful video (and one that I don't think has been produced by any other POD video channel, yet). Just might catch more attention for your channel, if you use a catchy title like: "How to name 10,000 POD Files for Success" (or easy use/editing), etc.
      It seems to me that when there is potential for there to be thousands of graphics files, with many variations of them (when scaled or changing colors or elements like text), it could be best practice to have some kind of file naming or organizing scheme to make it easy to identify the file/image and find it quickly, even if searched for months in the future. I may be overthinking this, but obviously still trying to get a handle on how to deal with so many potential files that may have some overlap or common elements, etc. With photos, I use thumbnail views. But with these graphic files (many having white text and transparent backgrounds), I was at a loss (puzzled) for how to view them quickly to find something to edit for another design, etc.
