Ahh, the joy of boat ownership! Actually in a way it is. You get back what you put in two fold; the repairs get done the way you choose and the boat is more prepared for your future together. Scraping obviously doesn't equal excitement, but it leads to it. Glad to see you giving Daniela hugs, support and care during this tedious part. Stay safe to you both.
I'm catching the sarcasm. I agree a month worth of hull scraping videos is getting to be a bit much, but I'll continue to watch because I like this couple and want to see their success with this boat...
@@jedicrypto I like them too and started watching about 4 weeks ago. But I mean, come on. Id rather see meal prep and feet pictures to break up the boredom of scraping
Congratulations on finishing with all of the scraping!!! That looked like a miserable time, and I'm glad you managed to make relatively short work of it. Keep up the great work!!!
You two are great partners. Working toward goals together is what makes the relationship better. You will enjoy when the boat gets launched and you enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Huub + Daniela, looking forward to the hull repairs as you move toward launch! Neither of you are afraid of hard work! Congrats! Nice to find friends who are also skilled at refabrication! Birds of a feather...
Congratulations on getting that scraping done! Such hard work! You deserve the boat to look beautiful when she is finished, I'll be watching every week!! Good luck with the rest of the conversion!!
Raff and Sacha from Spear It Animal are real party animals! Have fun, and don't hesitate to ask Raff/Sacha questions because they are as close to professional advice as you can possibly get. No project is too hard for them to tackle and I am sure they would gladly offer you advice.
Hi Huub and Daniel it’s so nice to watch you videos and I enjoy them a lot, Huub your a luck man to have Daniela and I look forward to seeing how this project turns out for you. Pat
I know it has to be done - but this is the third week we have had scraping of the hulls and not much else - please can we have something different next week. Keep up the great videos. All the very best to you both. Phil
Good to see you mixing it up with Raf & Sasha, I've been following them each from before they even became a couple, Their hard work and enthusiasm shows dedication and hard work pays dividends. A lovely couple with a lovely boat. I've been binge watching you two for the last week, a few videos each night, since your upload of when Dani joined the boat. YT Recommended your channel to me. Seeing you embark on this project of Hurricane damaged boat reminds me of when since then I've followed Colin another NZ'er who did the same thing as you guys are doing now. I'm enjoying following you both - so well suited Dani is a sweetheart - hang on to her ! Am recently Sub'd, get my Likes, my 1st time commenting however. It all helps the YT algorithms right ! I enjoy your content, lots of variety, explaining too, the hows and whys as you go about it all, which not too often all do. Sharing your scenery etc too each place you go - how wonderful the life you lead. Keep up the good work. Cheers from 🇳🇿 😎M.
I have watched Spear it Animal, that was cool that you met them. The intro to this video didn't make sense because you have been doing the outside for several videos.
Looking good ! There’s a ton of fiberglass work and grinding to come. I’m hoping you get lucky and don’t find a lot more damage when you get into the fiberglass work.
That a great accomplishment scraping down both the hull’s. Let’s not forget the nice repair job also. Just hope you used water proof duct tape. Not the 200 mile hour duct tape. Or you might have to redo that hull repair. Love the chemistry of these 2 beautiful people.
Another great video, guys. I’m not an expert on boats, but if the anti fouling is so difficult to remove, why does it have to come off at all? Seems pretty well secured to the hull? Sorry if this is a bit naive.
Love the work you are doing. Was just wondering if you are getting advice on the repair of the more significant structual damage that was done to the hull. Such a critical area. I have seen other sailing channels that bring in experts for advice and guidence on these types of repairs. Daniela is a trooper, such a hard worker. You guys are going to be so proud of yourselves when you are done. Your friends boat that you showed in this video is gorgeous.... no reason your boat cannot turn out as beautiful. Soon, there will be light at the end of the tunnel as hard and fast as you both are working. I am sure you rest well at night after physically working so hard. I will be looking forward to the day she is finnished and ready for the sea. Catamarans were made for the sea and sailors were made for the catamarans. Be well, hug each other and stay safe.
The dog looked like he wanted some shrimp but he probably didn't get any. Lots and lots and lots of scraping is now done, hope the rest is much easier and goes quicker. When the sanding starts you might want to wear a mask all of the time. 🙂
The other alternative is to apply hard copper coat after sealing the GRP against osmosis.. Ran sailing did this on RAN2 And Seabird sailing have just done it on their 40 foot monohull restoration in Port St Louis the South of France.
@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 The copper coat is extremely expensive, requires more care in application, and would require a longer weather window than I think they'll get in this location. But you're right, it's definitely better from a longevity standpoint.
At 1:48 the hull looks like a painting😁 There’s a cat (or a fox) at 6:38. There’s a face at 8:41. Another face 9:44. 10:39 looks like horizon on the ocean.
Oh Nooooo, i hope you got the plastic bag that was on top of the resin your gonna need it. What's the saying "Leave nothing behind expect for footprint"? I'm always amazed by the amount of care going into boat work and very little for the environment.
I know it is too late to tell you this but the end of a flat file with the end ground on a grinder is easier on your hands and body. You push not pull. It works well.
Three weeks of video of Just scraping the Hull. They are scraping an old wrecked boat while living on an old project boat. She will say soon " Opps I am " This is a Trainwreck. That i am here to watch.
Ha I bet there is more scrapping ahead but it will be shorter lived than this experience likely. If you had power, a multitool may do that scrapping quicker perhaps you will find out in the future when you get power. What is your battery condition?
What is the purpose of all of this scraping? Is it due to damage from the hurricane or just in need to replace the anti fouling or both? Hard to understand why you need to do all of this manual scraping
The keel repairs wouldn't be possible with anti fouling on the hull ... and as already stated you need to check for any cracks in the hull spreading out from When the boat came of its blocks. He cannot get the boat back on the water and to a better/cheeper location unless he can fix that keel that's been pushed up into the hull. The above waterline damage to the side could be easily patched and taped over for a move. Don't forget they are still in the hurricane belt.
Remind us ? Why are you scraping the hull? Seems that the level of effort to scrap the hull implies it was fairly solid. I would have thought the holes would be first priority.Just asking.
Theres an English guy Mark his channel is Wilding sailing he bought a 42' wharram pahi that had been abandoned just outside Amsterdam .. he's been repairing and rigging it and has just been testing it on the Isel meer before taking it out onto the N sea.. ask you lady if she has a Columbian female friend in Holland interested in sailing 😁... he needs crew and has been solo for a year or two. 😉⛵🧙🏻♂️😎🇬🇧
🌴 Wow they’ve finally finished scraping 🫲🏼😳🫱🏼, It’s amazing , Hard work doesn’t bother me one bit ! I can watch it being done all day ! Now the fun part , instead of having all that black stuff all over ya , you get to trade it in for grinding itchy fiberglass dust ,and stinky fiberglass resin , make sure you store your resin and hardner in a cool area, ,and a clamp on heat lamp helps speed up curing when needed , 🤔Hummm, I wonder how long it will take for all those barnacles to grow back once she’s in the water, 😄.
Greetings Daniela, Your are such wonderful girlfriend. You do everything and such an excellent little helper. I wanted to make sure that you receive your Recognition and Support Trophy. Happy Sailing ⛵

Is there a benefit or reason to scrap instead of sand?

I told you paint remover Budget has it,apply and remove in the morning. You're killing that girl.
Whats it do to the fiberglass?.....i used paint remover to remove built up paint on a fiberglass canoe and it damaged the glass under the paint
