    In this video I discuss several items and features that I do not like about my brand new 2021 Toyota Tundra Platinum. If you enjoy this video be sure to like and subscribe, check out the playlist Toyota Tundra Platinum. I’ll be making videos as I turn this into my dream truck. Deleting the chrome, updating the front suspension, beafing up the tires and wheels, and adding on TRD pro exhaust.

    All your observations are true. Had a Platinum 18, missed my 2010 had dual air, double glove box, grab handle, storage under the sliding back seat, and flip seat. All in all the Platinum is still a very nice truck for you and your family. I ditched mine now that the the kid's are out. Enjoy your ride! Nothing wrong with being honest! Agreed.. hated cleaning it!

    Get you some Husky all weather mats...looks great versus the carpet mats.

    I have the 2021 Limited with the Off-Road package and the ride is awesome. I know that the 18" wheels help for the ride, but I also suspect that the Bilstein shocks do as well. I looked at videos how to raise the front end of the pickup truck and while I think I can handle it, I will not touch the factory settings. I do not want to deal with many of the complications afterwards. I have just learned to be happy with what I have and not to mess around too much. The only thing I will do to my truck is to install a tailgate actuator to be able to lock it with the key knob.

    I also purchased a 2021 Platinum. Mine is Silver. The dealership had just lifted a new Tundra that had the Toyota 20" black wheels. I was able to make the swap for free. I, like others, do NOT care for chrome. Before picking up my truck, I had Toyota (or preferred body shop) scuff/paint the mirrors and door handles. I removed ALL the badging and even the chrome running boards. I too had a gripe about the tires. I was able to work a slightly larger tire (taller/wider) into the deal and opted for the BFG KO2's. I have lifted 7 trucks and lowered 2. I am going to keep this one stock for a while. Thanks for the video and good luck with whatever option you choose in deleting the chrome.

      Wow, you scored my friend. The black wheel swap out is awesome, I would’ve been pumped on that. Sounds like you got a great set up👍

    I think the reason the back seats don’t fold forward is due to the back window rolls down on the tundra. It’s to protect the glass and mechanism from any impact from cargo.

    To get OEM all terrain tires (the michelin ltx a/t2), you would have had to add the trd offroad package. Though all the makes do this; unless you have an added package, 4x4 alone will get you the normal all seasons (for the best ride and fuel economy).

    i would paint the emblems gloss black as well as the wheels and paint match the handles at a body shop. thats what i did with my 2020 platinum

    Hi your plantinum looks great, just a suggestion how about some glossy black inserts to cover only the plastic chrome. That will match your glossy Dark Gray overall your plantinum wins over the TRD by 100 percent.

    I'm currently in a 2020 platinum tundra but owned a 2017 TSS and 2018 Limited , and one of my gripes that I never hear anybody talk about witch all 3 trucks have in common, is the fact that their is no light bulb that shines on the mirror adjustment control inside the cab.

    • @checkitout2468
      @checkitout2468  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You are totally right. I don't understand that at all, especially sense the other switches in the same area are lighted... How do you like the Platinum compared to the Limited? Any major differences? Seats? etc.

    • @gregkennedy796
      @gregkennedy796 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the slight edge on the seats goes to the platinum, the limited seats are little firm in comparison, both very comfortable though, I also noticed that they did something with the throttle mapping I don't know what exactly Toyota did, but my 2020 seems more peppy off the line than my previous 18 tundra, other than the obvious changes its still the same hungry truck.

    I also have have a 2021 crewmax platinum and I share your concerns. I will also add the fact that Toyota quietly deleted the transmission oil cooler. 🙁

    so, you want the 1794 interior (non-black) and TRD PRO exterior but went with the all black Platinum. hey we all have wishes.. mine is trading my 2018 4Runner with the upcoming 22Tundra. lets hope the prices aren't jacked up.

    Just get the blacked out handles that they put on the trd pro. They have the same function as urs. Sparks parts sells them or you can go with a color match as well. U can also get the the official blackout overlays there too. Get urself some 17 methhod wheels with 295 toyo at3, and a king 2.5 coil over suspension with a 1 to 2 in rear shackle. Also swap out the headlights with the trd headlights (u can get those at sparks parts too). U can also put in the storage yourself pretty easy just very time consuming.

      Thank you. Great info. I didn’t realize the TRD Pro has the touch doorhandles. That’s great. Thanks for the tip on Sparks Parts.

      @@checkitout2468 im actually picking up my 2021 platinum in may. Ive just been getting everything ready for when i get my truck. Ur in so cal like me so take it to 88 rotors to get the stuff done u will need a bodymount chop for the 295 tires. Im an agressive driver which is why im going with the toyo open country at3 with some 17 in method wheels. Ill be using spc upper control arms (has a ball joint as opposed to a uniball which requires far less maintenance(more in line with oem), uniball is really only for performance in racing and off road) with king coil over shocks with adjustable reservoirs set to give the truck a 2.5 in lift. A 1 inch shackle in the rear will make it almost level u cant till its not unless u reall stare at it but it s better that way so when u put a load in the back it wont sag to much (really heavy loads u will need air bags or summo springs). Im regearing the truck with nitro gears and going to a 4.88 gear ratio. It will help get you close to factory mpg with bigger tires. (Im going with 4.88 as opposed to 5.26 because i dont tow a heavy trailer). Im switching out the tail lights to recon smoked taillights, putting in some ajt design stuff in the interior, taking it over to cali raised to put a front rear anytime camera, and putting in a transmission cooler (was stupid of Toyota to remove it in 2019). Ill also be putting in a dirty deeds bamuffler (8in trd replacement). Im also goint to put tyger steps(they look like rock slider but they are not, they are wide which protects from door dings and are better built which can offer some protection) Ceramic tint is a must. And i think thats about it at least what im going to do within the first 3 months of owning it

      Wow! You are on it!
      Thanks for sharing the details of your build. You’re picking up in May? Why the delay? Are you getting a hard to get color or something? I wish the platinum came in a few more color choices...

      @@checkitout2468 i just want to pay cash for the upgrades and its easier to save when you dont have a car payment. I was originallynot planing on getting the tundra for another year but when Toyotasaid they were getting rid of the v8 it pushed up the purchase, so now its just saving up enough to get the things i want. Yeah i really liked the quicksand color, that color with blacked badging is my favorite, followed by cement grey, then magnetic grey.

      All right, now I’m addicted to 88 Rotors. Epic Channel and business.
      They love to put 35 inch tires on those trucks. I was thinking about something closer to 33. Don’t think I’m willing to start changing the gear ratio. Also, I need to be very mindful of three young kids getting in and out of this truck. Do you think 33 inch tires with a 2.5-1 lift are too small?

    How about all the buttons on the dash and door panels that don’t light up,at night? Drives me bonkers, I have a 2012 Platinum and the folding side mirrors button, memory seat buttons, some of the power window buttons all don’t illuminate at night. That’s still the case with the 2021 model year. Love Toyota, but seriously, that is ridiculous.

      Yep and no bed lights, no driver side grab handle, no map storage behind driver seat, no bsm, no cross traffic alert, thin easy to scratch paint, all missing on my 2020 Limited trim...good truck but this is total bullshit...also backup camera is pretty horse shit compared to all the others

    Almost every Toyota vid mentions poor gas mileage. Exactly why I bought a 2015 then 2019 F150 after my Tacoma. Add the small gas tank (unless you upgrade to the larger one $$)& Tundra was out for me.

    • @checkitout2468

      TRD Pro it’s basically the same price as the platinum. The TRD pro comes with upgraded suspension, better exterior look, upgraded wheels etc. The platinum comes with a lot of interior upgrades.

    How.about we stop complaining about what you dont like and drive something else. I have a 2010 Platinum and it has 340k mile on it and still drives like its new. I'll take a little chrome on a door handle over an unreliable powertrain.
