That is why Bright left. His son was killed by the manhunters (Kenneth lied to him throughout the mission to capture mafty) and the federation executed him before the eyes of the entire world. Truly the most DEVASTATING thing to happen to a human being.
Great video as usual! Something I'm a little unclear on, were the Manhunters primary duties in Gaia Gear still the deportation of spacenoids from Earth? And if so, how did that connect to their eventual plan to actually re-colonise earth. The two motives seems like a contradiction, but did the process actually radicalise them against space colonisation?
To answer your first question. The manhunters PRIOR to Gaia Gear solely did the duties of deporting illegal aliens. However, once the space division was founded, the authority of the manhunters exceeded to out in space. When dargol was placed in command. His own ideology infected those forces. People fear the manhunters because they deport and evict people out of their homes. And they’re known for committing atrocities to do it. But the scary question of them growing into space is “what happens when that same force that kicked you out of your home comes to your new one and it has no place to kick you out of to, and THEN is given an army of people who have never seen the system change or the status quo evolve to help them.” You get a force that lashes out at EVERYONE! For your second question. It may seem contradictory for the manhunters to have this idea of returning to earth. But you have to look at it from Dargol’s perspective. As HE himself is a spacenoid. (Yes, throughout the story, you learn from Dargol’s dialogue that he is from space.) Dargol’s never embraced Zeonism (because he sees it as a pipe dream; newtypes at this point have been romanticized to the point that people see them as a fairytale and not an actual possibility. And with this long amount of time passing. they’re right. Nothing truly, longlastingly or good has ever happened with their prophecy). He expresses the desire for humanity to return, because he himself has never lived in a place that he saw as beautiful. And lots of spacenoids believe this. Cuz it’s the truth about their lives. That’s why he lives in such a lush palace-like mansion back on Hellas. He desires the most beautiful things in the world, and surrounds himself in them cuz he thinks that’s what humanity desires. He DESIRES castles, kingship and the salt of the earth. Not truly knowing that the earth in it’s entirety is horribly tainted. The things humanity is denied; just like him. Dargol’s army wants humanity to come back to the home that the federation took from them. the federation that refuses to let them do anything to change things. The Federation doesn’t build more colonies for the expanding population, they don’t do anything to give the colonies the ability to sustain themselves. If you look at Hellas, Shangri-la or Tigerbaum. You can see how bad it can get. They continue to have people like Jiang Wen Fu savage the populace. And when the elite see themselves losing their power over them. They threaten that population by bringing the manhunters into space. Not knowing that the new forces they’ve placed in charge of policing the colonies all hate the government and wish to see it destroyed. If they were Earthnoids, they’d be destroying colonies. But they never do. The titans are war-criminals who kill innocent colonists that side with Zeon. The manhunters acknowledge Zeonism, but with their EFSF connections they act more like a secret-police state instead of a military-run dictatorship like what titans want. The titans kill innocent people based on rash hearsay and personal grudges. The manhunters kill innocents so that they look good in front of the federation. They don’t like doing it (the best example of that is when that manhunter soldier is driving Urian in the car in the first episode), but if it serves Dargol’s agenda to let his division slither its way to top. Then he’s all for it. They gave them ALL these forces and ships to police the colonies (forces that haven’t been unified for decades) and once their leader announced that they would begin trying to bridge the divisions with the space and earth elite and try to save the planet (while still policing the lower-class population) the federation let them come down to earth. Metatron’s attack on his fleet was a FALSE-FLAG. He knew from his meeting with Afranche that he could use their forces as justification to come down to earth. With the federation under the assumption that they came to protect them from the Invaders. Cuz it’s what the EFSF has always done for them. Only for Dargol to reveal his true desires. To see the earth-elite overthrown and replaced with space-elite (not Gihren’s common-folk version of elite. I mean the powerful people of space elite.) The earth elite’s hypocrisy and blindness resulting in the manhunters seizing control of the capital. So it’s not radical anti-space-colonialism. Its Reverse-Contolism. As it is the perfect counter to Zeon’s original idea of Contolism. As Contolism seeks for humanity to expand and leave earth behind so that we can all achieve our destinies as newtypes. But Dargol’s “Reverse-Contolism” is the belief that (now that we are in space) in order to achieve our destiny (one that the newtype-myth has made us complacent to) We must return to the place we came from. With Dargol’s idea of newtypes not being the future. Since they’ve confirmed them to somewhat exist at this point, but their discovery has led to nothing but mistakes and failures from humanity. It makes sense for such an ideology as this to emerge. Cuz every time Contolism was attempted, it failed. Zeon never won. Federation always remained in control in the end. It’s what can happen with ideologies as they grow and evolve over long-spans of time. They can have fully fledged counter ideologies. P.S. Yes, the federation are THAT stupid. They have always been that stupid and they’ve never been able see the threats that exist within their own military.
