  • Commonly referred to as the the H&K P30sk, this model is officially named the HK P30 SKS V3. It is chambered in 9mm and in this full review, we will tell you all about this great hammer fired option that came from Heckler & Koch years before the VP9 came out. And of course, there is range footage included as well.
Here are some other HK reviews that we have done before:
HK USP in 40 S&W: • HK USP Compact, Varian...
    HK VP9: • HK VP9
HK VP9-B: • The Button Mag Release...

I am amazed by your presentation; it was concise, to the point, didn't wander all over the map, and you had your material ready to present without using "ahhs, ummms, errrrs" and all the usual rambling, long-winded, gather-your-thoughts filler sounds used by 99.99% of TH-cam reviewers, whose reviews are intolerable beyond 15 seconds.
I am enamored by HK's hammer-fired guns, since only they seem to have a decent selection of guns with the right feature set - non-striker fired, safety lever, decockers, compactness, high-mag capacity etc. After seeing your presentation, I decided to go-ahead and add another hammer-fired HK to my collection.

I hear ya on that! Just last year I bought a brand new Taurus G3c 9mm (optics-ready version) After it was all said and done, it cost me close to 350.00 Well just 2 months after getting the gun and realizing that I dont like striker fire guns, I called 4 different guns shops in my area and I was lucky if they wanted to give me 150.00 for the gun. But yes, youre absolutely right on the H&K P30 SK being a good choice ... well other than its actually a great choice ;o) I love the gun and wont ever go back to a striker fire gun

Love my HK pistols almost as much as my 1911s. Thinking about picking up a P30SK to go with my P30L once they work the new mags into circulation. Don’t know if you’ve heard but the 10 round mags now hold 12 and the 13 round mag holds 15. They finally upgraded like they did to the standard VP9/P30 mag a couple years ago when they went from 15 to 17 capacity.

Excellent gun. Think the DA/SA is the best action for safety and self defense. There are many great guns... but I think the P30SK is one at the top of the list for a subcompact CCW/EDC. Don't get me wrong, I think Glocks and other striker fired guns are good guns (and they're perfectly safe)... but many people want to have added security that the trigger won't get accidentally pulled (at-least not easily) if something got into the trigger guard on accident.[ Have heard the new light LEM trigger is a "must have" for anyone carrying a P30 for self defense.

    • @Visiblyblue

@@deucedeuce1572 the da/sa system has been shown for decades to be incredibly safe to carry
Something almost never mentioned about the LEM trigger is this. It's consistent to pull and has a long take up. Thats all great but you're losing that heavy first pull which is what makes the da/sa system safe.

Who doesn't admire H&K ? But all the complicated V1, V2, LEM varients with all the internal moving parts concerns me for reliability. Servicing, parts availability. Enter Glock, or Walther PPQ, PDPs, USPs. If Glock would introduce Gen6 with altered ergonomic grip angle they would set the pistol world on its ear. My H&Ks are the classic VP70Z and VP9 SK, and USP 45 Elite .

Was fortunate enough to pick up a DA/SA P30 SK from LTT. No safety. Eliminates one of the biggest complaints about this gun, which is the trigger. Smooth as butter, lower pull weights, shorter reset. You can specify several different pull weights, and a flat trigger if you wish. They also offer several different iron sight options and will also do an optics plate. Quite a splurge but what a great firearm.

@@Spartanfan0514 10lb spring, and glad I did, as the DA pull is still plenty heavy. The GG flat trigger is a tough call - think I would have been good with either. Only been to the range a few times and I shoot the gun very well (for me) inside 10 yards. I got the GG trigger because two of my other carry guns (P365 /365XL variants) are flat triggers and I do like them. I like the GG trigger in single action, but it does feel a bit strange to have the flat trigger and its edge for the long, relatively heavy DA pull. I have a P229 Legion and a Beretta 92 (also from LTT) and I will say I prefer those physical triggers (not necessarily the action) for the first pull. Worth noting that the Sig and the Beretta have insanely short resets. The H&K has a nice reset, but not even close.

i hope to get a p30sk one day. i like it a lot. i want the non s model which is perfect for me. i scored a p30L s version when hk did the price restructuring after releasing the vp9 so it was 689 and i think the p30 and sk were 589 and that didnt last very long at all!
719 was the best i could find for a new p30 locally and i swear you cant find an sk or vp9sk.

My P30 SK no safety is my EDC and I have found it to be a little bulky but with the right IWB holster it is manageable. The trigger action requires me to constantly train and sight acquisition and accuracy is awesome. Gun has a heavy feel with easily controlled recoil. But, I will say this pistol requires a lot of training....at least for me.
