      @@Zekriax Hey Rj! It was quite the adventure, I went with my friend but as we arrived mid-season it was hard for us to find accommodation together so we ended up working at Lake Louise Ski Resort for a month where they had staff housing. Definitely recommend planning it so you arrive at the beginning of the season with a job lined up! Ended up settling in Montreal and I love it here ☺️

    Thinking of heading over May 2026 - really appreciate this video!
    Thinking of starting in Banff and getting a van then traveling up to Jasper and then back down to Revelstoke for the Winter :)

      Sounds amazing! Jasper had some pretty big fires recently so I’d keep an eye on how the town is but otherwise, a perfect trip! Let me know if you need anything :)

    During summer time, do the sky resorts close?

    • @caitlinlaurent
      @caitlinlaurent  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They close very briefly in the spring and fall but they are open during summer and winter!

    How do you guys go about leaving all you’re winter stuff when you’re travelling to a summer place?

    • @caitlinlaurent
      @caitlinlaurent  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Angie, we have always had a consistent house in Banff so haven’t had to worry about storing things. When I left for the summer, Tristan was still in our apartment so I just left all my stuff where it was with him! Otherwise friends are usually your best bet!

    One question that I never really see answered is do you think its feasible to move to banff and be able to live for life there or in the surrounding areas? Most people only plan on moving to Banff for a year or two so I get why this question gets skipped but as someone who wants to move to Alberta for good, and the mountains is ideally where I want to be, would it be an option that you two think is possible? I am 25 and would be moving alone so I think this is around the perfect time for me to try it but want to move somewhere I can really feel settled over the course of 2 years or so.
    Also should mention, I love that you two put these out, really helpful for people like me who are desperate for input!

      Thank you for the comment! Its lovely to hear they are helpful.
      In regards to your question, I think it’s definitely doable but there of course are things to be aware of. Banff is a very transient town, people are constantly coming and going and it can be hard to continually say goodbye and make new friends over and over again. Even in the year and a half we have been in town it’s been sad to watch friends leave then contusion build new friendships. If you have the intention of staying longer you will most likely also find friends in a similar position and once you have a circle of long term friends I’m sure that will help. I do know people who have been in town for many years but a lot will move on quickly and that’s something to be prepared for. To live in Banff you’ll also need to be working in Banff to be able to reside there, just a note in case you do any remote work etc.
      Alternately Canmore is a town 20 minutes down the road that is out of the National park and it tends to have more of a settling down vibe while still being very much in the mountains. Housing appears to be as equally hard to find as Banff at the moment but you don’t need a right to reside there. The town is still lovely too, with lots of similar stores to Banff. In saying that, we haven’t lived in Canmore because we do prefer Banff and that’s what we moved there for, that is also because we only have two years.
      I hope that’s helpful! Ultimately I think you could do it, it’s just wether that will be a lifestyle you’ll want forever or not. Good luck with it!

    Hi I was just wondering how you found your accommodation with a dog as we are moving to Canada in October and we are looking for accommodation at the moment and want somewhere we can have him?

    • @caitlinlaurent
      @caitlinlaurent  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! We live in a pet friendly apartment building. We dont actually have a dog ourselves but our roommates have one, which you can see in this video! There are a few pet friendly places around town but as far as i know, no staff accom is pet friendly. In our place we have an extra $50 a month pet fee for the dog!

    with the 24 months working holiday, do the 24 months begin as soon as you get the POE letter and accepted into the program, or does it begin once you actually enter into Canada? Do you recommend coming for September and doing a winter season first or coming to banff at a different time for the working holiday?

    • @caitlinlaurent
      @caitlinlaurent  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It starts once you physically enter the country! Once your PoE is issued you have 12 months to enter Canada. I personally loved arriving in September and doing it that way. We got some of shoulder season then were able to watch winter arrive!
