    I lived in Banff summer 1983. I got my job at the Banff Springs by recruiter who came to Seneca College-none of the sources of what you mentioned applied in 1983. I will tell you this: unless you party or adopt Christ as your savior, making friends is otherwise difficult. And staff accommodation when I was there was substandard. Transportation btw was public or hitching. And as much as I loved the Rockies, I was fortunate enough to have friends in Calgary. And my jobs were in housekeeping or the kitchen. That said, if you are a seasonal person, you don't get all the perks.

    Thanks for this video! I’ll be in Banff this summer and I might stay and work for the year. This helped clear up some things :)

    I'm moving in September and this was super helpful! I'm kinda worried I'll get there and not be able to find a job for a couple weeks, or do you think it shouldn't be a problem to find something? :) Also, how much was the discounted ski pass through Banff lodging co.? And what kind of ages are other people there doing IEC? I'm going into my late 20s and worried I'll be the oldest there haha!

      you’ll love it here!! I would say the easiest way is through work, staff accommodation, and honestly just going out and chatting people up, everyone is super social here cause mostly everyone is in the same boat☺️

      I hope you got a Work Visa or you are now a Canadian PR. I am Canadian but I was fortunate to get a US green card, so I have had experience with immigration. No way can you get hired legitimately in America without one or a valid non immigrant work visa. Canada is the same.

    Thank you for the video!! I’m moving out there again in a week and I can’t wait.
    Just a quick question, how did you get from the airport in Calgary to Banff? Was there a shuttle? Thank you!!!

    • @jessicaszalai
      @jessicaszalai  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a friend pick me up. Most of the shuttles aren’t running at the moment which is a bummer! the best option is pop a ride or banff ride share on facebook! If not, I think the taxi company might be doing it

    what was the interview like? like what questions did they ask you and all that

    • @jessicaszalai
      @jessicaszalai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      honestly all of my job interviews weren’t really interviews, they were just a chat to talk about the position and myself!

    Can you bring your car? Like do they have parking for employees

    • @jessicaszalai
      @jessicaszalai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it depends on which staff building you’re in, the one I was in had 2 parking spots so I got one of the parking permits, if not its all street parking!

    Hey, very helpful videos! I am moving at the start of November, so I am hoping it is not too awkward a time for finding a job! Would you say there are still things available with staff accommodation at that point? Thanks in advance :)

    Would you say groceries are expensive? I’m moving there this coming week from Ontario and have a budget somewhat figured out. I lived in Whistler last Summer so I know groceries can be pricey in resort towns

    • @jessicaszalai
      @jessicaszalai  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      honestly they’re expensive but not the worse, considering the taxes are only 5% compared to the taxes in ontario, it kind of balances itself out. it’ll definitely be cheaper than whistler!
