Bacalar Mexico | 2-Day Backpacker Itinerary - Lagoon Tour, Los Rapidos, Sunset Party!
Caribbean-like waters - but in a lake? Come experience the magic of Bacalar, Mexico with us!
Bacalar is a beautiful little town in Southeastern Mexico, near the Belize border. Having just visited Caye Caulker in Belize (th-cam.com/video/b2WufP3LS4Y/w-d-xo.html), it made sense to stop at this next town that all the backpackers were raving about!
With 3 nights and 2 full days to explore this area, we split our visit over two of the major things to do - a boat tour on the lagoon of 7 colours and Los Rapidos, the most beautiful natural river float.
As you saw in the vlog, we didn't choose the best tour provider to go with and were disappointed with our experience. In saying that, I do think spending time on the lake is completely worth it and if you did want to do it with a tour, these look like much better options:
Bacalar Lagoon Sailing Tour with Open Bar and Mexican Lunch: getyourguide.tp.st/oHjOtwFp
Bacalar Lagoon Sightseeing Boat Tour with Open Bar & Snack: getyourguide.tp.st/KsX2cpkF
We also really enjoyed visiting Los Rapidos but did find the experience to be a little over-commercialised for us!
Overall we are so glad we stopped in Bacalar and loved seeing what this town had to offer. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we had spent more time enjoying the area and visiting more unique spots, however, we did have a blast regardless!

That's awesome. Belize is one of my favorite places to visit.
What size do you have in the dojo pant??
Mr Mullet!!! 🥳
Hey!! Do have tips on doing a getyourguide or viator tour in winter or can most of it be done yourself by walking and the shuttle ? Banff and lake louise being the focus? Thanks 😊!!
There is a couple of difficult points , but it's not that hard. Amazing hike ❤
Also, from base camps can we see lava coming out like a red flame?
Siiii
Hi, I have 3 year old son. Do you think I can take him?
Can you recommend a local travel agent to assist with planning?
Where did you end up buying your car from? Any tips when looking for a car? Looking for the best way to go about it when going on my working holiday.
What month did you guys go?

Thanks for this. Hope your great adventures continue. Cheers

Thanks to all you Auzis and Kiwis for keeping our ski hills operating smoothly. Hey and no sharks! Carry on
Are you from the UK?
My partner and I are doing Lava Trails next week! Do you organize the additional Fuego Hike there ? Or did you do it before
@@andrewdeans3113 they do it once you make it to camp so you know how much energy you have left! It’s a very in the moment decision, no pre booking needed!
Thank you, really needed this after watching the US election.
Yeah even at the little cave we didn’t wait to go in or anything 😊
I did this hike today! And all the way up to ink pots. i just kept thinking about this video! Thanks Ink pots is definitely the hardest part of the hike though 😅

Yes thank you! It was actually super quiet when we went which was great

do u think i could do it alone? also as a beginner and women

Thanks! Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for the video! It was my boyfriends turn to pick a destination and chosed banff. He tried to back out after making me buy all this winter gear because he was afraid to drive in snow -_- This video is perfect ! I will drag him ! Flights booked for Nov 28 <3
@@crystalnegron1563 it is truly the best place ever so great choice on his behalf!! Remember you can always get public transport if driving is nerve racking as well, have the best time 🫶🏻
Awesome video! The lava shots are epic :) Do you have a comparable hike in the Rockies (or the PNW) that ranks similar in terms of difficulty? I'm trying to compare and figure how hard it might be haha
Thanks! One of the best experiences ever! I have done most of my hiking around the Canadian Rockies and Banff area and it was comparable to a lot of Rockies hikes over 1000m elevation. The initial hike to base camp was easier than expected. I personally struggled the second day for the summit hike at 4am, that was the hardest part in my opinion but it was also optional. If you have done a few hikes over 1000m-1200m then you will be able to achieve this!
Thank you for sharing. Cheers!
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is an unreal video! Thanks for the info

Hi I will be doing this as well in a few weeks, I was wondering if you made a reservation beforehand and if so where because we have an option somewhere else which is 30 dollar so I would love to know where you found this :)
Hi! I didn’t book in advance, I just showed up and went on the tour on the spot :)
Hi i got chance to work at Sunshine village as well soon but the accommodation that they set me in are quiet far away from Sunshine village I would like to ask if they got thier bus or not to send me to the Sunshine village !?
Hi! It depends where you are staying but there are busses that run from town multiple times a day and if you’re in staff accommodation I’d imagine you’ll have access to transport to and from at a minimum!
Is there any way to get there after Thanksgiving?
The road sits across an avalanche path once there is enough snow hence the closure! The only way would be to walk or bike in before the snowfall, or cross country ski after - it would be completely at your own risk though and I would not advise it
This is awesome! I am doing this in November and I am super excited!
Good luck!!
one cuestion? did you had cellular service? internet service?

Hi, how long do you recommend to stay in Banff? I am planning to visit near Christmas.
Ideally no less than 4 days but it truly depends on what you want to see and do! You could stay for weeks (or years in my case) and still not run out of things to see and do :)
