Building LEGO Displays & I'M AN IDIOT!

- Today we build a ton of LEGO display shelves and get them placed in the gallery rooms. During this process, I realized I made a HUGE MISTAKE... I simply cannot believe I made such a rookie mistake. That being said, we turned a negative into a positive and I'm actually thrilled with the result and considering this a happy accident.

With the sheer scale of this project you cannot be so hard on yourself. It’s amazing! I understand the little things get to you and I hate that for you, but dude! What you are doing… stressful, crazy, and absolutely admirable. Your passion is moving.
I love how honest he is too. I won't have noticed the issue with the pax units or the corner in the smaller room both looks great. But I love how he's honest about these things, it's is so much more inspiring than seeing a fake reality so common on the internet these days.
Hey Jordan. I think you should get some crown molding for the top of your "mistake" shelfing. Bring it all the way to the top to look like custom shelfing and turn it into a real win! Your rooms looking as good as your Oilers.
Agreed. I recommend looking at the height extension for billy cases. I believe that would bring them up to the same height has the pax and you could continue the crown molding all around.
It’s incredible the size of your collection. In a couple of years, “You're gonna need a bigger… studio!”
Next upgrade buy an old theater. 😂
Next one will be a public museum 🤞 sit back and let the money roll in!

THE BRICKSIE EXHIBITION.
He will have to buy one of the surrounding studios and connect them! 😂
@@kellbell8866they were already neighbouring when split, he shows this in the very first introduction video, the wall behind where the furnace is was an addition to create this unit
HATE TO SAY IT.............BUT, those taller bookcases look waaaaaaaay better than the smaller ones! Swap them ALL out for the bigger ones 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The bigger ones are more expensive, can’t be moved without falling apart, and they are wardrobe units lol. But i totally agree!
MORE space for MORE sets! Muhahahahahaha @@MaceCameron 😆
I'm the type that would slide instructions on top of those...
To cover the small gaps at the top of the shelves, you can use your extra off cuts of the malemine and cut strips to make them touch the ceiling properly.
Definite agree. That dark gap is distracting. May also prevent it being a dust magnet.
I was going to say the same thing. That or some crown mouldings.
yeah, without too much work, they would look like proper built in shelves.
Definitely worth doing, but he should also connect the pax units together and to the walls!
The lemonade you've made is super sweet!
Those tall units are perfect for the larger sets.
If you hadn't mentioned it, it easily looks deliberate.
A wise maker once said, "Do not highlight your mistakes.
Most people will never notice your mistakes. If they compliment you on what you have created then value their positive sentiment by not drawing attention to their lack of experience or judgement by highlighting your mistakes as it makes them feel inadequate.
Those who have the experience and judgement to spot your mistakes will either understand them as they likely make similar mistakes themselves and if they mention it at all it'll come from a shared perspective and empathy.
Or, if people do mention your mistakes in an unkind way then their opinion is of little to no value.
Bottom line - your hard work is obvious and what you are creating is fantastic and my advice is try to be kind to yourself as you're definitely worth it!
This is epic grade awesome and I'm loving seeing the journey you're sharing!
This is wise advice but I think in this instance it just helps people relate to him more. Seeing someone make a reasonable mistake can make them seem more realistic and endearing. Personally I wouldn’t put “I’m an Idiot” in the title but we know he isn’t.
@@Anubis2X To be fair, "I'm an idiot" is pretty good clickbait... too many people online are here to laugh at other people's misery. Being able to troll the trolls once in a while is nice.
Hey dude. You're not an idiot. So excited about the new studio. If I were you, I'd have trouble sleeping. So many possibilities.
Facts
Yea I think the shelves he got look really good actually
Happy accident indeed. Funny to hear you reference Bob Ross. Your work ethic is commendable. Don’t forget to take some R&R though. Happy May Day.
I think if they had more than one size they should be advertised together. Most do that and then ask what size. Anyway, I had a thought. I think it would look nice as long as you had your white paint out if you paint over the silver hardware showing on the “happy accident” wardrobes. Or you could use white tape if the paint wouldn’t work. I think it would look much cleaner. The area is looking great!
Yea very true
Keep up the good work
17:58 - We need to time stamp this quote for when you do another video in a few years time saying "we're running out of room" 😅😉
You are definitely not an idiot. It is absolutely amazing what you have accomplished. Your wife rocks helping you out building those units. Awesome team work. ❤
You are feeling overwhelmed, not dumb!! You have been going almost nonstop. Everything looks great!! There is always a silver lining.😊
You could buy the billy book case extensions for the top of the book case to get them to match the height of the pax units.
Man I hope you know I’m totally living my dream vicariously through you. Everything is coming together so well.
We are in the endgame now 😂 the completed studio will look like a dream world to all Lego fans 😁keep up the great work, hope the kids and pets are well 😊
Thank you so much 😁
The Lego on shelves really adds life to the studio. can’t wait to see the city come to life!
Hi Jordan! My first comment ever but I just wanted to say I really like the tall Pax units. I think it would look great to get some extra shelving in them at the top so that the top shelf lines up roughly with the top of the Billy units. This aesthetically will help make the taller units blend with the rest of the room’s shelving. Looks great! Love your channel
Your deffo not an idiot. What you have achieved in such a small space of time is amazing. And the taller units work brilliantly
Hello I'm Jaryd Craig Cuthbertson, I'm 34 years old autistic man as I'm from South Africa: Kwa-Zulu-Natal Pinetown Durban in 36 Pastoll Road. I don't think you're a fool in the studio while I adore your collections except for the Harry Potter, I also like your mural like Brick-crafts in Germany. As you know- I got some Lego of my own as I keep them safe in my containers for not cluttering my small bedroom, I'm using some colored papers and papers from book-scraping in the store by my mom to make some landscapes and background of my stop motions videos, and I use my bed to do the videos with the wooden board (for playing puzzle). Plus when I was teenager: I gotten to know Bionicle since the year 2001, I already got the Toa Nuva, Bohrok-kal, some of the Matorans, two Bohrok Va, Toa Metru, Makuta, four Piraka & Visorak. And also for building some minifigures- I can only build them to be the familiar faces from any movies and cartoons. Thanks for only use the word; "Oh my gosh." Because that is much softer words during broadcasting of your own videos... no matter what. And I really enjoy watching your videos all the time.
I honestly think that the taller cabinets would have looked better in the first place. Happy accident!
That's how bricksie did last time. He convinced himself using Mac 😁, next thing you know it's returned 😁
Dude. Look at the taller units like this. More shelf space for more lego. And like you said less clutter on top of the units. I think it looks amazing. Love everything about the big room. Huge fan of all the star wars sets.
You should put a shelf between the 4 pax units over the top of the door to put all the helmets on!
Definately a happy accident as they fit. All is good jordan✌️
It’s so awesome that you have an understanding, supporting, & helpful wife, what a blessing.
Jordan....the Paxx unit that is against the exterior block wall...I recommend having at least a 3/4" air gap away from the block wall. This will mitigate the risk of building up frost when it's-35C. The air gap will allow the interior warm air to keep that small space warm enough to prevent frost from building up on the wall and the shelf unit.
Thanks for taking us on this epic journey of yours. I truly enjoy going home and watching your videos. You are doing an amazing job. Keep up the amazing job. And like others said, don't be so hard on yourself. You are working long hours and making time for your family as well. Mistakes happen and on a project of this size you are really not messing up as badly as you think. Look forward to keep seeing your progress.
Man it's honestly not your fault I hate how IKEA just names them pax or billy rather than pax tall, billy narrow, etc
I imagine they take so many returns from this sort of thing, they would probably save money by labelling stuff better.
You have been working non stop so if this is the worst mistake you have made you are still killing it. Hopefully you can take some time off or have a few half days when this is all over but I know you will feel the financial pressure to keep going but try to give yourself a few easy weeks of building Lego or something that still puts out content while being less stressful.
The room of Billy's looks incredible, like a museum or something!
Shelves look amazing! When it comes to Lego collections larger display shelves are always a good thing!!
I don't think your dumb or stupid for making a mistake, I think in your mind you saw the size and grabbed them as you unknowingly bought something to fill the space more then the originals you have. It gives you more shelf space and removes the clutter space on the top. So a part of you thought about the clutter space.
I've made a bunch of mistakes with IKEA sizing when ordering. Think it's cause you don't see the finished size in person till you've built it. Good thing that returning is super easy (at least I've found it to be).
Its not your fault. If you click on pax then there should be the choice on different sizes to choose from. It is with clothing and shoes too. So, its Ikea's fault!!!
The large Pax shelves looks really good! You should add a thin moulding (correct word?) on top there to hide the gap and will look perfect. Way better than the «small» Pax would have looked. And room for more Lego!
You can actually return a fully essembled IKEA furniture in the store and get a full refund. It would require a truck though.
Hi Bricksie. You are most definitely not an idiot. The truth is that that "happy accident" has actually turned out well for the Star Wars room I think. Those four big cabinets will hold stacks of Star Wars stuff and as a dedicated collector of Star Wars you are going to need those shelves going forward. As far as the May 4th promo goes, it would be great if it was in the Star Wars room as it features quite a big collection of Star Wars models. A very, very big thank you to you and Jose, for working so hard to get all of this done. It's a great video for our enjoyment.
IKEA STRIKES AGAIN 😂 ❤
I looks so good I can never order from the website it’s always to big or to small it happens I’m so excited it looks beautiful
Hey, Don't call yourself an idiot. You are able to produce entertaining Lego Content Every single day and Make a living off of it. I love the new studio too. Godspeed Brother.
Happy May 1st everyone! Hope everyone got some amazing Star Wars sets!
9:05 dont feel dumb about it man just got to learn from it, to help avoid mistakes like these remember haste makes waste, measure twice and cut once, and patience!
I love waking up every morning and watching your new videos man!! ❤ Keep it up!
Jordans so good at putting these shelves together that he actually slowed down the footage so we can follow along.
For the problematic corner shelf you may be able to use some scrap wood cut at an angle as wedge that you can screw into from both sides.
I actually really like that the PAX units are the talker ones. They look like they are “feature” sets, and I would totally claim that as a design decision!
OMG the lego... good luck. Great to see the wife! Hope to see more of the better partner!
Hope the wife gets a room or two or the new warehouse! As a couple you'll reach a larger audience
Don't be too hard on yourself. You by far make more good decisions than poor ones.
Happy accident! You can add a little LED strip light up there and make it very atmospheric!
Hey Bricksie, you can make the other side as well a perfect corner. As the side between the two corners are 3 shelf’s you can just in between this put a little bit of wood and than it would be perfect. Like corner, shelf, spacer wood, shelf, spacer wood, shelf, corner. Hope this is understandable.
Greetings from Germany quiet follower since the really beginning and love your new project. So much opportunity’s.
This was my thought exactly. Make the perfect corner and add a small strip of wood in between one of the Billy bookcases in the middle.
Also, as most people have said, stuf like this happens. I did the same with the Besta units here, although in my case I wanted the TV version you accidentally bought but bought the big one. Don't sweat it, Ikea exchanges all. Even if you have build it already or unpacked it.
I too like building ikea furniture - maybe there is a link between enjoying Lego as well - it’s the building that is just fun where others try and avoid.
Wife gets a room? So much new space, looking great dude
We all make mistakes and I agree. It’s a happy accident. I love the straight to the ceiling look! But the most important thing is… no Lego was harmed in the making of the video 😜
I wouldn't say it's a negative at all. Use some blocks on top of them, get finishing trims and cover up that 2" gap. Now you have some built-in custom cabinets!
Connect the talll shlves with a Kallax over the door if they would fit
Bricksie, start keeping an eye out for if your warehouse neighbors plan on selling their property. You’re gonna need it someday! 😂
You are cool 😎
It was ment to be for the starwars room. Even more epic.
Changes bricksie to name billy?
Jordan! Timelapse tip - if you lengthen your shutter speed, the issues with the lights should go away. The trade off there is that everything moving around will look blurry, but IMO since everything looks super-speed in timelapses anyways the motion blur looks natural. I usually record my timelapses with a shutter speed of two seconds, but you could certainly do shorter than that and still get rid of the problem with the lights. Hopefully that helps! Maybe I just don’t know how your lights work, but I think that would fix it if you’re willing to have some motion blur
Those tall wardrobe units would look even better if you filled in that narrow gap at the top with another strip of while melamine.
Don't stress too hard man you're doing great keep it up 😊
Put something on top of those big ones to hide the gaps

Jordan, let’s go Oilers!! 🏒
You are not idiot you did very well and don’t worry about it
This takes both the channel and the opportunities into a new dimension! Its not a lego city in a basement anymore but a bricksie world in the future with all kinds of forest areas, deserts, cityscapes, unlimited possibilities!
There is something oddly satisfying to watching IKEA's furniture being built.
Your error actually worked out for the better I feel. Don’t sweat the issues and focus on them, accept and move on!👍👍 LOOKS AWESOME 👍🔥👍🎉🎉🎉 DONT BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF🙏🙏👍👍. Don’t degrade yourself with negative comments about yourself. DUDE, YOU GOT THIS!!👍👍👍💪 Life is a total learning experience👍
The taller shelves look great!
Congratulations on your new endeavor. If you’re wanting the corner Billy’s to be as secure as the wall units, you could use an angled bracket from the hardware store to attach the them. You would essentially use twice as many screws and nuts, but the aesthetic would be the same as the other Billy’s. Im not entirely sure how much clearance you have b/c it is such an acute angle. Shortening the screws/bolts could work. If that’s more work than you wanted to do, since you’re already going to IKEA, check for their version of corner bracket hardware.
Good luck!
Dude! Those look perfect for human sized Ironman suits, batman suits, STARWARS suits or just ridiculously big Legos mocks and even mocks
HEY!!!! CUT THAT OUT ❣️❣️❣️❣️ You are excited and lost fost focus being lost in the excitement of having reached your goal. It's all good. They look great! Just enough space to run a duster over the top... Keep going. Your doing great!!
The open concept looks amazing!
Hi there, you're definitely not an idiot. I assemble IKEA for a living through task rabbit and it's a common mistake. PAX are 201 or 236 tall... you have a happy accident as it's much better having maximised your height. Great watching your move and setting up.
USA Tusken Raider Brickheadz is backordered will ship in 60 days... all my other stuff is going to ship and I will get all 3 GWPs. I ordered 45 minutes after the May promo started. and the Tusken Raider Brickheadz showed in stock but now several hours later they say nope no stock left so it will ship separately.
This looks amazing. These videos are amazing. I am not even following Lego anymore, but I love following your journey.
Don’t beat yourself up. Amazing content
The Batwing cabinet is in your Star Wars room so you probably want to move it before connecting all the cabinets
Hey Bricksie. The Pax units look great. Maybe you can place small units on your Billie cases. Also to the sealing. You better check the Guiness Book of records, for building most Ikea cases😉😅 greetings, Evan
At least you managed to get a fix to the problem, I am fortunate that IKEA in UK have deeper Billy bookcases 80x40x202 cm though when I get a place of my own I think I will go with the IVAR system
I've done somethings that are worse. In 1995 I purchased a loveseat and a TV cabinet for a total of $200...(the loveseat was used for $50 and I still can't believe how I hauled up a flight of stairs) and when I was assembling the TV cabinet some of the panels cracked and I thought I would have been able to repair them since I have some woodworking skills but both pieces of furniture eventually became covered with boxes and about 15 years later, I finally dug them out, busted them up with hammers and threw them onto a local burning pile. I made so much noise busting up that loveseat I'm surprised my neighbors didn't complain.😂🤷
Yeyyyy Mrs Bricksie again 🎉🎊🥳🎊🥳🎊🥳🎊🥳🎉 All the sets are amazing, (to be fair, you nearly have as many as me) and the shelves do look great, even the "Mistake" 🤭 Once they are filled with the lego they will fade into the background and you won't even notice the difference in the sizes, infact it will most likely look deliberately done, to fit your larger UCS sets.
thanks for sharing all this experience...makes my day, everyday! Wish i could have helped :) . big thank you for Mrs Bricksie for supporting your passion
I wouldn't be mad about that at all. That's a happy accident and now you might need a few more shelves with the extra room.
Happy mistake s are best. 💥Yes 💥. ..in the. Art world a happy mistake is what. Create.s Oridganaity. An tourn s a mistake happy mistake s into. 😮 thousand or million s💥💥💥👌 when experimenting to 😊
Hey Jordan, if you're going to put your Star Wars collection in the first room, will you be moving the Bat Man Billy shelf into the other room? I noticed it's still in the first room. Only a question. I think your Studio looks fantastic! Great job, my friend!!
Why not adding the Billy extentions on top of the existing ones? That makes them 1cm/0.4inches taller than the Pax units, which won't be noticable unless next to each other. Speaking about consistency :). Little molding to top it of and you have 2 rooms full of build-ins at a fraction of the price!
Only downside is that the extentions don't exist for the corner cabinets, but those can be bought in full height if needed..
Nice work by the way!
We love the channel and have watched over the years. A small request. Appreciate that things can get stressful but kindly request on editing if possible to edit out any colourful words as we watch with our children (who follow your twins). The word 'p#?sed off' possibly not really suitable language particularly for children. Much appreciated.
PAX Units were a blessing in disguise imo. Fun tip, display mini figs along the top perimiter of ther PAX units. or small scale lego. Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge.
Maybe you could use the separate Billy bookcase extenders and get them as high as the high Pax units. Should be around 237 cm vs 236 cm.
I am in awe of how far you've come and all you e accomplished. You're burning the ca dle at both ends, and like you said only human. However, I agree with all the comments about them being a good thing. Crown molding, or some piece of finishing, would also look amazing. Love watching all of this process!
I can't be trusted to shop online for anything except LEGO either (outside of the Steam store), so I can totally relate to how you're feeling after this.
You need a handheld vacuum for cleaning up the sawdust after connecting the Billy units. I miss my old handheld Dustbuster... not even sure if they make those anymore.
The foibles of online ordering...! Been there; done that - and yeah, I felt daft for a day 🤣🤣🤣 keep the death stars eye level for 'maximum appreciation'...helmets above 👍🏻
It's looking amazing! The bigger cabinets look just perfectly fine, don't beat yourself up to bad over
You're workin so hard with so much going on, not dumb.. mistakes happen. Tall book cases look great! Maybe some LED's on top in the back would look dope as well.
if you add the billy extensions to your billys, they will be the same height as the pax you got. I have a billy with extension at the end of my pax wardrobe and it looks like one piece of furniture.
The tall pax are a great happy accident!!! It’s going to work and look best with all the big SW Lego sets. As for the fighters and helmets, definitely put them over on the Billy’s
These large shelves are actually perfect for the big sets, yes .. Without this 'happy accident' you wouldn't even have known .. another good example on how good it is to make 'mistakes', because otherwise you can miss out on some stuff :)
For the Corner i used Klavierband (google translates piano tape) wich made the Corner very flexibel, but it was hard to mount the Klavierband properly.
Mrs. Bricksie is a trooper, and so are you. Place is coming along nicely. Don't be too hard on yourself. You are working hard and filming at the same time. Thx for another great video!
Hopefully those larger cabinets won't run you afoul with the fire inspectors. Not sure about your local regulations but in my neck of the woods: All storage, regardless of the type, shall be kept at least 24 inches below a ceiling in non-‐sprinklered areas and at least 18 inches below the ceiling in sprinklered areas of the building.
Jordan do realise that your studio needs much more security! Backdoor is not solid and you should consider a LEGO vault room, maybe where you now placed the city. Be aware you need receipts in case of insurance and make pictures of all your sets (document them). Congratulations with the finished move of the LEGO room to the Studio.
