Here in Dubai the new 70 series only comes with the new 4.0L V6,24-Valve DOHC VVT-i Petrol Engine and NO 2.8L Diesel as an engine option ,the base showroom price is around 169,000 dirhams about $79,000 AU
Thanks for your video. This is quite an eye-opener to the new 70 series Land Cruiser. I'll be staying with my 100 series for all the reasons that built the reputation. Cheers
Saw a heavily modified (classic) Defender once. It had this on it: "Built in the UK, perfected in my garage." It's funny how every time I see a 70 series video these days, I'm reminded of that sticker.
Read the directions on that bolt that goes under the tongue. It’s an anti rattle bolt for the tongue BUT if it’s like all other Toyota towbars, you have to remove the bolt before you tow with it, generally I’ve always left it out on all my Toyotas (eg prados) otherwise for sure as 💩ill forget to remove it when towing
Awesome rig. Personally I prefer the graphite rim. However, silver or graphite (OEM) there's a better looking and better offset for camping, touring or doing a moderate rock crawling and stuffs.
Does the Fortuner also have the display for DPF burn on the dash? For that matter any of the other Toyota products with the 2.8? I think this feature would save many DPF problems and should be fitted to every car with DPF 👍 good thinking Toyota
100% they all should.. No the fortuner doesn't have an indicator or a light for that mater, maybe the newer one may, our one does not. I remember the 1st burn it did, it just revved high at idle, thats all the indication it gives!
I would be sold on the auto if...You could "Clutch" start it with a flat battery and if you could drive it (in low range) using only the starter motor. I don't know, is this possible?
@@TeamBulletOffroadwatching your videos with big interest in the 2.8 79 as a farmer owner of a v8 79 for the last 11 years. For me the 2.8 auto 79 on paper ticks all the boxes. Like you the black wheels would have to go strait up 👌🏼
How you find the kumos mate , true 285 you think ? I know some brands are big , small for there size but I havnt had any experience with kumo yet but I have the chance of picking some up for a good price .
They were an honest size mate yes, they are a super great value for money shoe the MTs but I tell you 2 weeks crossing the desert in the wet the AT52s have blown me away, what a tyre I tell you they are....
Please can you check the vacuum pump accessibility in 70 series? Because it is located in back of the engine and its service item that requires engine out job in other models
I would love a v8, but is it worth it? Im keen to get the 2.8 just brought a couple of underpowered dogs in the past. I'm not keen to do it again if i can help it. As i really thought the 2.8 would be cheaper than it is, but id love a auto I want to tow a camp trailer, just yet to see a review towing. Love the channel down to worth ozzie well done sir
Thanks for the comment, yeh they so different to the LN106 2.8, crazy different Hahaha.... We have a massive trip towing the 2 tonne jayco, some good off-roading, river crossings and massive hills, that 3000km test will show us what its made of, give me a couple of weeks and well have that episode...
Already having the manual V8, in stock form, tows the 3 tonne bad on 35s, bit better on the 285s but still bad, the places we take Bullet of late we have Mt Ousley, Mt Victoria, lots of mountains, having experienced towing the 3tonne with Chelles fortuner, also auto, it tows it way better than the 79, and the Tuna is stock too on bigger shoes.. So the V8 tows out 2 tonne jayco fine, so its that extra tonne... Now the grey pre dpf I had sooooo much power but having thrown big $ on that motor to get the near 700nm. So I will be able to compare now with the auto, which is what twisted my arm on this one...
Fair points....i have the first of the new V8's (about a year ago now) Previous was a 2013 tuned which i was happy with. This one is still sluggish after the tune...it must be the DPF!. useless stock power wise. The money we pour into them is ridiculous. All the best with the new rig...
No I cancelled that one, that was Jan this year as I knew the Auto was coming, not in the current form though I assumed the 300 set up... But its still an outside chance, they have to get one themselves Marks to do a house fitting as all the under bonnet stuff will obviously need tweaking, and ill have to do post rego, engineers involved etc. Nick at Solve offroad will do it if I go that way.. Thats why im trying to set this one up to tow on stock suspension... Thats in next episode.. Thanks for the question, and I just looked up at how much I typed.... Sorry if I bored you..
Cheers Richard, if you get a spare chunk of time, maybe you could flick me some "must see" spots down there, maybe even meet up for a day run etc... facebook.com/p/Team-Bullet-100064434649885/
I will sell it if im happy with the new one, and each day I really like it more than the previous... So if it impresses me in the upcoming tow test, the white one will sell...
I think we around the 50/50 split, but the easability of driving tips it in favour, can't wait for the off-road test in the auto.. that should seal it with the expectations I have Jim..
@@TeamBulletOffroad yes it should be much easier with the auto. I love the ease of 4wding in our auto Challenger with rock climbing, beach driving etc.
@@davidkelly6122 Yup. They just don't give a shit. @Routeseventy6 For the LC badge maybe? For me the LC can be a V8, a V6, a straight six, but not a 4. There needs to be something that differentiates the two market segments, in cars it’s the engine and vehicle dimensions. The LC isn’t really that much bigger than the Hilux and now they share the same 2.8 four pot engine. Silly.
Id love to know how you guys get on with warranty claims with all these non factory mods. Seems like your giving them a lot of excuses to weasel out of them. My experience with Toyota warranty claims is that its a very painful process even if it's as plain as day that it's a warranty issue.
