    UPDATE: Sadly enough, it looks like I have to update the fact that there have been no recorded alligator attacks in Myrtle Beach. Out on the back side of Murrells Inlet off of Bay Road there was an incident where someone lost their life. EDIT: it was an elderly person with dementia that went into the water with a large gator and from what I understand fell on it or made it feel threatened in some way involving direct contact so the animal defended itself.

    Actually, a man was just killed by an alligator a few weeks ago at Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht. He was standing with his back to a pond in a residential community and was grabbed by an alligator. So horrifying.

      Yeah I know that's crazy! I can't amend the video but I did change the top pinned comment. I never read any thing else about it, I wonder if he was messing with the animal or whether it was just a pure accident?

    Lived in Myrtle Beach about 20 years ago for 4 years and plan on moving back (moved to Atlanta, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale and Virginia). We had a lot of hurricanes back then which were a pain, but nothing substantial ever hit the area and SC has some of the strictest zonng laws in the country. Floods were never a big issue when I lived there outside of a summer day when it rains super hard. Of course there was the flooding there back a few years ago on the intercoastal, but that was more of a freak occurance.
    Crime wise it's gotten much better than when I was there. Even back then the crime wasn't all that bad. If there was crime it was usually at the nightclubs and they have greatly diminished since I lived there. The same with Biker Weeks. Then there was the motels closer to Ocean Blvd, but many of them got bought out by the city and are going to be replaced (reportedly the city is considering turning it into an arts distric).
    Even the traffic pales in comparison now to when I lived there. I was in Myrtle back in October for vacation and I couldn't get over how dead the roads were and how the traffic flowed much better. The addition of all of that infrastructure has really helped.

      It's not that a given incident doesn't necessarily "count" because it was a tourist, it's that the number of given incidents per capita is wildly wrong because of a population miscount.
      I'm going to hone in and clarify this on not the next video but the one after that. Those same statistics say Myrtle Beach is worse than Detroit, Chicago, Newark, and Kabul Afghanistan (!!!). That's just wrong... And it's wrong not because an incident happens that may or may not involve a tourist, it's wrong because of the way the population is tallied.
      Appreciate the thoughtful feedback, thank you for the input! I wouldn't mind citing your response in the next video if that's okay with you?

      Yes feel free to cite my reply. Hope I did come off as attacking your view. I agree that statistically it should not be lumped in with places like Detroit and Chicago, but by the same token, potential visitors or transplants should not be mislead about prevalent crime in the area. I mostly agree with your presentation.

      Facts! I've got a pond behind the house, have all kinds of visitors but never seen an alligator even though I know odds are they've been in and out of there dozens of times without us noticing!

    Became when a real estate ad says quick drive to beach.. if you are west of intercoastal .. it traffic during summer along highway 501.
    ALL OF MYRTLE BEACH IS A FLOODZONE.. look for a home on piers/crawlspace.
    Seen homes w slabs only 3inches of height. It's cheaper faster to build.
    If you live in city limits of MYRTLE beach u can apply for a city parking decal to park at public beach access points. Used to cost $20 for 2yrs.

      Our average homeowner is retired, no job = no problem in most cases. The two big industries are tourism and medical, that's really it. But again, if you're retired it doesn't matter

    • @MangoHomes
      @MangoHomes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The horse was trained...the hit never landed it was staged, that scene is from Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles movie.
      Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to redo it with a camel in Conan the Barbarian but he accidentally punched the camel for real and felt horrible about it. No animals were harmed in Blazing Saddles 🙂
