  • In this tutorial we're taking a look at a 3D printed, print-in-place, hinge with user parameters. The features are scalable so the tolerances can be easily adjusted for manufacturing.

guys, i can't wrap my head around the gap in the joint, i assume you put supports for it on the slicer and then force the joint at the first open?

Is there a way to make the hinge tight so it's not as loose/floppy?

any tips and tricks on printing print in pplace objects?

Really useful, thanks. I've read about a lot of people having trouble with support material doing print in place, one article recommends that you use soluble support material, which implies a dual printhead is necessary! People especially seem to have this problem with hinges, or rods in cylinders in general. Any advice in that area ?

Hey, :) Just a heads up. The Fusion 360 share link returns an "Oops, File not found!" using my cell phone. Maybe it's a Autodesk thingi not being cell phone compatible/capable. Gee, maybe I ought to try using my desktop before publicly belly aching. :'\

      @@adafruit Hey, thx. :)
Sorry, for all the trouble. But, I've just discovered the requirement (on my cell phone anyways) to be logged into Autodesk with an account to download any files, otherwise the error message, *Oops! Page not found.*
Really stumped as to why this is necessary, Data collection, maybe? I dunno. Thx and apologies again.

With good tolerances and settings, yes you can. Look at all the articulated prints being done in resin, it's the same idea.
