  • In this help video we assist customers who have trouble in figuring out how to separate the main door 🚪 from the flyscreen. If not operated correctly, this process can break components of the door handle!

hi darren, if on your particular caravan it wont lock from the inside it may be due to misalignment of the locking screws on the side with the plastic hooks on the inner frame that they recess into. Sometimes it would also be hard to lock on the outside. this can happen if the frame of the door is also twisted.

Hi @ElrossCaravans , thanks for the video.
Mine too! Not bought from you, but a new van, and within 3 days of driving, the internal lock had gone stiff, then got worse until it stopped being lockable when closed.
If the door is open, you can lock it, but as soon as the door is closed, especially with the outer skin closed, no luck. It has also become stiff to lock with the key from outside.
So as you say its definitely something to do with the alignment, as if, when the door is closed and the screws are located under the plastic hooks, the screws aren't able to come back up to a neutral position. I can demonstrate this with the door open; that metal slide with the locking screws only needs to be down just a little from its rest position, and the lock will not turn.
Its new and undamaged but maybe the frame has shifted during the trip? How might we go about fixing it? Van was bought interstate and we have driven it home so taking it back to them is not feasible.

its definitely misalignment and the frame twisted - the only way to solve the issue is to get the manufacturer of your van or repair shop to remove the door and re-fit it. it may be tight in areas or loose in the gap. these doors need only 2/3mm of misalignment to cause problems so during installation care needs to be taken to make sure the tolerances are correct. if your handy its pretty easy to remove the door yourself and re-fit it. you may need to massage the Cut opening they have made or other. the only other thing that could be a gremlin to you is if you have a door blind fitted - the screws for the door blind can catch the internal lock and prevent it from locking especially the bottom left screw - this only happens when the door is closed and pressure is on the locks. try by removing this screw and see if it resloves the issue. if it doesn't then its the door frame that is twisted. @@Serehfas
