    I bought a new 2018 S1000RR from my local dealer and my engine blew up outside the warranty (they do all my servicing) and BMW said this should have never happened and replaced the full engine at no cost... No drama, no fuss and two weeks later my bike was back on the road.. I cant fault BMW as they stand behind the customer and the product ... Two years later I trading in my 2018 in and bought a 2023 M Sport....

    2-week turnaround for a blown motor replacement is amazing... I was expecting at least a couple of months. Also, I have no doubt, Ducati (SafeGuard) would have denied the claim. You do have to wonder if the Nate Kern call helped your case as well.

    Changing ignition timing advance could have something to do with a catastrophic failure of a connecting rod. I imagine. High performance engines are definitely more "delicate" by their nature for sure! and BMW is aware of this and it's great that they replaced it for you! I like to think that if you use the engine in the manner the manufacturer recommends during the "break-in" period - the more likely the engine will last and last... and last. There are "use" behaviors that can accelerate damages to the engine - poor "warm up" - being too "wrist-y" with it... etc... etc...

    To all those worried about the M1000Rs engine, it's built in a manufacturing process you will occasionally, emphasis on occasionally have a faulty part. It is machine made by machines with upper and lower tolerances, as many quality controls there are there can always be a couple that will fall through the cracks. That's what the warranty is for

    Failures happen no matter how stringent the build process or quality control. It’s how a company handles it that matters. Happy to see BmW stand behind their products. They make some of the best bikes out right now, hands down. I am a huge fan of the s1000rr and s1000r.

    Hi Bill, so happy you got her back quickly. I'm a Napa-raised gal, living in Pismo Beach and just purchased this bike. I LOVE IT! I'm in AWE. Still breaking it in and my only negative is the buzziness of the bars and blurry mirrors. Any suggestions are hugely appreciated. Enjoy your channel. Thanks.

    • @CaliMotoTV
      @CaliMotoTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So on the first motor, I didn't really notice the vibration and I know people were complaining about it. But I did put my bar and mirrors on there almost immediately so that would make sense that today I used the stock mirrors and they were blurry. Email me and I'll send you over a link to the bar and mirrors I have.

    • @nvmy_m3
      @nvmy_m3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed this during my break in. After my break in I was able to change suspension settings. I have it dialed down to 2 and it made a huge difference. I think we get the wobble from the bike being so stiff. I tried the damper from motomillino and it doesnt clear.

    It's always a gamble. Subaru of American voided my warranty on a new vehicle with 5k miles on it despite me complaining of excessive oil consumption from 300 miles. Motor grenaded and they flat out refused to warranty it due to a Cobb intake THAT THEY INSTALLED being on the car. Years later a class action ringland failure lawsuit came up but since I didn't have them repair it I was not eligible. I put a junkyard motor in the car and traded it in at another dealer. NEVER buying another Subaru product. Moral is, any mods can lead to long fight, depends on the dealership and the technicians looking at the failure. WTG BMW for actually diagnosing the cause of the problem!

    hey Bill, hope you read this one. bought a '23 S1000R new from the dealer, they did the 600 mile break in service back in feb. when i did the 6.5k mile service, found some serious chunks of metal in my oil pan. took it to the dealership and showed them, and was basically told to keep riding the bike until something more serious happened.
    well, the bike developed a pretty bad valve tick and now its at the dealership for service. dealership has been a real piece of shit digging their heels in about the warranty claim, and its gotten me so fired up i fully intend to go legal on them if they deny the warranty claim. if they took me seriously when i told them about the metal in the first place this wouldnt have happened. glad to hear that you had success with your dealer though.
    if you dont mind passing through some contacts higher up at bmw, i'd love to reach out to them about this situation

    • @CaliMotoTV
      @CaliMotoTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I don't really have contacts higher up but I would definitely contact customer service at BMW North America. Make sure everything's documented unfortunately dealers don't have much control over what BMW says on the other end. They're warranty process really sucks so just keep everything documented and give it a little bit of time and pressure and I think everything will get taken care of

      @@S1kdownshifthey brother, so from that incident I got my bike back and it was covered by warranty completely. Sucked being out of a bike for a few weeks but when it got back to me it turned out fine for the next 6k miles or so. Bike went back to the dealership for another unrelated issue (key fob unpaired itself) and they discovered a leaking coolant pump. Bike gone for another month or so but again was fine after.
      Cue April 2024, got nailed by a red light runner and bike is totaled. I've since gone to a sf v4s but up until that point the BMW was running fine, all the way up to 16k on the odo. Problem once at 6k and once at 12k

  • @iamthewallrus
    @iamthewallrus ปีที่แล้ว

    Soo is the speed wobble just a thing you have to deal with on this platform? Currently waiting on an allocation for one but multiple owners have reported the same issue. Kind of defeats the purpose of a 200hp engine if it’s going to wobble at triple digit speeds
