To me, the QM7 seems a touch warmer, maybe red push? It also has a yellow tint at times when it should be whiter but calibration might fix this. I ordered the QM7.
I initially bought the U8N, but I was unimpressed with its black level performance. The hardware is there, but the processing is too weak to fully take advantage of it. As a result, the U8N suffers from severe fluctuating letterbox bars. Sometimes they are inky black, while other times they look like what you would expect on a $300 LCD TV. Truly terrible performance in that regard, which makes the TV unwatchable for me in a dark room. Then I moved to the QM851, which I liked better. It had better motion handling, slightly less impressive color production, but improved black level performance with one caveat-the letterbox bars still fluctuated, though to a much lesser degree. This is simply unacceptable to me on a TV with so many dimming zones, so back it went. On a whim, I decided to try the Samsung QN85D with very low expectations because it has significantly fewer dimming zones than both of these models. However, to my surprise, it absolutely destroys both the Hisense and TCL when it comes to overall black level performance, shadow detail, and letterbox bar performance. The letterbox bars are inky black and do not fluctuate; you can watch it in a completely dark room without distraction. The shadow detail is the best I've ever seen on a mini LED, and the color production is outstanding. The peak brightness capabilities fall behind the Hisense and TCL, but nonetheless, it's still brighter than you're ever going to really need. I used to own a Samsung Q8FN, and I was always impressed with its black level performance despite very few local dimming zones. Samsung seems to use an extremely solid algorithm on their TVs that feature panels with excellent native contrast ratios and fewer dimming zones. The QN85D is virtually the only Samsung TV in the past six years that uses a panel with an excellent native contrast ratio and fewer dimming zones, rather than a poor native contrast ratio with a high zone count. Native contrast ratio is so important even on a panel with substantial local dimming zones, and I don't know why Samsung moved away from this-except for this TV and this TV only in the past six years. Anyway, it's a great TV, and everyone is sleeping on it! I think it's the best mid-range mini LED on the market right now.
Those are more on the Cheap side than the Budget. I would say the U6N is on Budget, U7N budget to mid, U8N mid to high, C4/S90D high-end, G4/S95D/A95L/B9 are premium.

hey FOMO, I have a question that only you might know the answer to. I bought a Sony Bravia 9 (yes the $3k B9), and I was trying to change the picture settings for Twitch (android tv app). I cannot confirm, but the QM7 is similar to the C755 (Asia)/C805 (UK Europe), which sits a tier below the C855 which has 1000+ dimming zones and is brighter. But loses slightly on blacks compared to C755.
I have had the u7n for two weeks and im returning it. It has horrible black and red smearing in dark scenes. Super bright bit I couldn't play any dark games as it's would smear shadows and dark objects whenever I would turn the camera or in cutscenes. Have the qm7 on the way.

@stopthefomo I just bought a 55qm7 after watching your previous video. I like the TV in most cases for it’s great HDR brightness and contrast and specially for gaming in ps5 or xbox. But I can’t yet figure out specific value for motion settings to get rid of artifacts or judder while watching 24fps content. This is killing me. I use Apple tv 4k, so I mostly watch contents in Dolby vision 4k60 output. I see three options for dolby vision (IQ/Bright/Dark) but I see judder when watching let’s say Hobbit movies in HboMax or 24fps youtube videos. If I set motion settings then i notice artifacts. I had zero motion issues in my previous Vizio M507. Any suggestions on setting up the motion options when you use Dolby Vision output from Apple tv 4k60. It would be awesome if you can make a video for motion settings using Dolby vision. Thanks for making awesome detail videos😊.

It's a budget TV so at this point if it lasts 2 years IT'S A BUY. I'm being serious here - below $500 and they're all very similar and what you want is longevity and ease of use nothing more.
could you make a video on the TCL qm7/qm8 on what these settings do -Dynamic contrast -Black stretch -Dynamic brightness -Micro contrast To me they dont change much or anything. I remember on samsung using contrast enhancer on HDR to make things a bit brightner and best TV settings for xbox😅
Dynamic Contrast brightens everything but screws up shadow detail/color - best for sports to increase legibility of scores and text. Black Stretch does nothing perceptible. Micro Contrast makes dark areas "blacker" but results in black crushing - this is very very content specific if you watch movies that feel a bit too "lifted" and want some darkness.
@@stopthefomo i remember that with samsung contrast enhancer it made what dynamic contrast is suppose to do in HDR in the tcl but i does not do anything for me.

Because U8N vs QM8 review was done, ultimately both very similar with U8N showing slightly worse tone mapping but better color accuracy and shadow accuracy OOTB. Right now I'm using my ShieldTV to run Twitch, outputting the hdmi signal to 1080p and using the Bravia to upscale it to 4k. Looks much better than the internal Twitch app at least but this is not a long term solution.
Thank you
They are all close enough that's there's no way I could personally justify a b9.
Wow I love this. Columbp is my favourite!!
Hi, what about ADS PRO panel models of hisense 75 inch ? Some site mentioned issues with these hisense TV sizes, thanks
Great review!!
Great comparison, both are now $499, was leaning towards QM7 but now noticed it has only WiFi5 versus 6E for the U7N. Is this a decision maker or still go for QM7 and doesn't really mater (I have a router that supports 6E)
The Qm7 support wifi 6e
just got the u7n today. any calibration tips or recommended settings?
I have just returned it back

Hi Fomo can u help me in the middle east we have c745 & c755 is it as same as qm7? I heard its the same in the middle east, i also see in rtings r745 so maybe this is the same one, And if its not as same as qm7 do recommend it against u7n? At 75”
Thank u so much! 🙌🏼
I love Columbo.😊
👍
Hi FOMO, very interesting video. The qm7 seems like a really good deal. How good is the color accuracy in sdr content on the qm7? Or should I save up to get the qm8? Thanks
QM7 and QM8 very similar color science, both are closer to accurate in 2024 than 2023 but not quite at the level of the U8N. If you value skin tone accuracy, the U8N does it a little better OOTB.
@@stopthefomo Thank you, I appreciate that.
How do you think the 98inch tcl qm7 perform????
@stopthefomo Hey fomo, a couple weeks ago, 100 inch u8k dropped to $3k and I was like “awesome, they’re going down because next gen u8 will be out soon” but didn’t pull the trigger. Now they’re up higher than before at 4k..
100 inch qm7 is still at 3k. What is your thoughts on qm7 vs u8k?
Surely u8k will go down again, and I was hoping to get 5 year warranty if it crapped out and then get the next gen. Should I wait for u8k to drop to again or go qm7?
I need 100 inches
Does u7n have the backlit remote? That thing is sweet.
Yes, Hisense buttons have back light.
I got the qm7 I gotta say for the amount it's worth it punches above it's weight. You have to calibrate it a bit. But after that I like the contrast way more than the U7N.
Dude the QM7 contrast can Quickly faint when during d day n spring summer comes -- ppl often buy tv dec don’t realize how bright room gets . D matted screen .
U7N has--- 2023 Flagship U8K VERY high gloss type of semi gloss . ( d deference will be seen between X93L glossy VS X90L matte )
@Yoga_Tv_buying what do you mean "quickly faint". Your reply really isn't clear.
@@kjeneen79 haha I am glad u point out . I guess I meant to say QM7 has matted fine grain screen like Sony X90L . U7N has stepped up using 2023 Flagship U8K screen . It has HIGH Glossy type of (semi gloss ) . Significantly more Neat n Clear to d naked eyes .
QM7 is 899 now
TCL QM7 is better on images, color is bit saturated that can be reduced I will go for QM7
Latest firmware update for the Bravia 9 (dated Sept 16) messed up the ability to adjust picture settings. After watching HDR content you can move the sliders but nothing happens with many of the settings including Gamma and Live Color. Help Fomo!
Is the Hisense 100” U76N the same as the U7N?
The U7N is a different model from the 100U76N. The U7N ranges in size from 55 to 85 inches.
Hi FOMO: is the TCL 85” QM851 or the Samsung 77” S90D a good upgrade, without braking the bank, for my 7 year old Sony 75” Z9D? I only stream movies and some shows as well as some TH-cam videos. Thank you kindly!
QM851 is a TCL, the Hisense is a U8N.
@@snopro2375 thanks for the correction! 👍🏼
Anyway you can help me out, just brought the Model:65A7N Hisense 65” and it keeps freezing and losing internet connection when I have real good Verizon Fios, my router speed is showing download 2389 mbps upload 2477 mbps, tv is in the living room where the router is as well, also tried using a Ethernet cable to have direct WiFi speed, it’s definitely not my WiFi, any advice? Ima call the company next as well, either way thanks
So i got a ps5 bro which one do u recommend me to get the Hisense U7 or the TCL QM7 ? Please help
En video gaming es mejor el TCL qm7
How similar is the QM7 to the UK version TCL C855 since we don't have the QM7 over here
I cannot confirm, but the QM7 is similar to the C755 (Asia)/C805 (UK Europe), which sits a tier below the C855 which has 1000+ dimming zones and is brighter. But loses slightly on blacks compared to C755.
Does Jennifer Gala Like Columbo ????? Columbo just murdered this test ;)
how are this tvs for gaming who is better?
I have had the u7n for two weeks and im returning it. It has horrible black and red smearing in dark scenes. Super bright bit I couldn't play any dark games as it's would smear shadows and dark objects whenever I would turn the camera or in cutscenes. Have the qm7 on the way.
@@SteveJaye84 I had the same issue with the U8K last year, and I returned it for the same reason. While most VA's will have some level of dark smear, the smearing on the U8K was beyond unacceptable. I got the QM7 a couple weeks ago and while it's not 100% perfect in dark scenes, it's way better than the Hisense when it comes to dark scene performance in gaming.
Do you have calibration settings for the u7n thanks fomo
Set to native 24p output and let the TV do the conversion. 4K60 means your ATV did the conversion and possibly introduced artifacts
Hisense U8 way to go
Exactly 💯
purchased a qm7 because this review. Maddening audio delay. Spent hours troubleshooting. Not worth the hassle. I'll just pay more for something reliable.
Sounds like you just got a bad copy brother
@stopthefomo how’s the Hisense qd7? Only 479$ for a 65 inch
It's a budget TV so at this point if it lasts 2 years IT'S A BUY. I'm being serious here - below $500 and they're all very similar and what you want is longevity and ease of use nothing more.
@@stopthefomo so you think these Hisense TVs won’t last?
Dammit I need to watch Columbu for a billion time
Not enough Columbo in the Columbo shoutout. Should just pick an episode and work all the way through 😅
Thanks
If U7N is similar then U8K should be a better model than QM7 even U8K is from 2023 and U8K is the same price now with QM7
I didn't like the U8K as much as QM8 last year. I feel the QM7 is the better TV this year - go with the QM7. U7N is definitely worse than the U8K
TCL is much "REDDER" why?
slightly over saturated red - needs to be calibrated to be fixed but it's not "terrible" just not accurate
could you make a video on the TCL qm7/qm8 on what these settings do
-Dynamic contrast
-Black stretch
-Dynamic brightness
-Micro contrast
To me they dont change much or anything. I remember on samsung using contrast enhancer on HDR to make things a bit brightner
and best TV settings for xbox😅
Dynamic Contrast brightens everything but screws up shadow detail/color - best for sports to increase legibility of scores and text. Black Stretch does nothing perceptible. Micro Contrast makes dark areas "blacker" but results in black crushing - this is very very content specific if you watch movies that feel a bit too "lifted" and want some darkness.
@@stopthefomo i remember that with samsung contrast enhancer it made what dynamic contrast is suppose to do in HDR in the tcl but i does not do anything for me.
Hisense always looks green or cyan to me. 🥴
75” u7n (ads) or 75” qm7 (va)… coming from a 65” tcl 635 ther just died… big bright room, the 635 was bright enough…. Ads really that bad? The ciewing angle would be great for the big room… but rtings said the u8n ips panel tanked hard…. Regardless, both TV’s have to be better than the 635? The a7n I picked up for a bedroom looks better than the 635…. Help!
Kinda hard to focus on the comparison with a moving head at the bottom 😕
Hey FOMO, buddy😊
Nathanial Flat
Following the premier chat the other day talking about columbo and having a raucous seeing this today made me laugh 😅😅😅
Omg why would you not do the U8n in that mix why the 7 ?
Because U8N vs QM8 review was done, ultimately both very similar with U8N showing slightly worse tone mapping but better color accuracy and shadow accuracy OOTB. The U7N on the other hand is slightly worse all around despite being bright - QM7 is the better comparison as it’s a similar price. If you can afford the U8N do not consider the U7N!
@@stopthefomo thanks fomo I have a90j in my good sound room but I need a good tv for beach house but I do not want to spend lots of money which one should I get the 75 U8n or tcl c855 ?
Because comparing tvs when some of them are calibrated and others are not makes perfect sense. LOL! C'mon. How stupid.
The bravia 9 is the "best" of these and is calibrated so it's meant to be a reference to compare to the rest of them. It's literally 3-4x the price of the rest of them. What's stupid is you not realizing that, tbh.
Conclusion: If you like the U7N, QM7, or QM8, buy a Bravia 9. Simple.
😂😂😂 and pay 3k, literally 3 times the price. Yeah pass.
Never again TCL I am the most disappointed person in this world and I have a MiniLed C805 model. The TV is a total disaster in terms of motion pictures and there has never been such a bad TV in the world. To buy the worst regular Sony LCD TV would be like hitting the jackpot against these crappy TVs from TCL.
