    This episode fleshes Jean out as one of my favourite characters. He's the most human and the most conflicted, Marco's death shaped who he is and he'd be damned if he put his own selfish wants ahead of his sense of duty after all this time.

      I mean is it really selfish to want to survive? He's definitely the most realistic thought hes the literal only one bringing up the elephant in the room that stopping Eren with no actual plans after means your own genocide so her saying genocide is wrong while not having plans to stop their genocide is the same thing

    Annie wasn't joking, or being a bitch when she said "What about me?" To Jean. The anime cut out a line (botching the scene, imo.). Immediately after Jean says to Reiner "I'm not apologizing. . " and Reiner says "That's fine." Jean says, "I can't forgive you. . " THATS what Annie was replying to. She was asking if he considered her unforgivable, not asking him for an apology.

    The Directionstyle of this Ep especially was inspired by the Dialogue-Tensionbuildingstyle that HunterxHunter frequently use to talk things out. It's about flashing pictures of backround stuff while having the dialogue underlined with clear voice acting. They dont use much music this ep mostly disturbing notelines w. piano and really just focus on getting a point together.
    Many people hated this Ep bc of the silence and not much action sequences but much frozen pictures. For me thats again an 10/10 Artpiece and again nails Aot to one of the best thought of Stories to exist rn.
    The introduction where Hange's recalling to the ''Fallen Comrades'' was so emotional and showed her impersonating Erwin's position while showing us the goal we have now.
    And Gabi's voice acting at the end again, damn i just love her character.

    I feel like for a lot of the people in Paradis (it's that how it's spelled?), the "ouside world" is just a concept that doesn't hold any actual weight, that's why so many of them celebrate what Eren is doing. They lived their entire lives in that same place thinking there was nothing out there other than death and evil enemies trying to kill them and for all they know, that's still the case. I think that's what Hange was talking about, the scout did go out there, they did see the innocent people, so they can't hide behind the excuse of "oh I didn't know there were good people there" anymore.

      I can imagine that for many people inside the walls, nothing's really changed about their viewpoint from outside the walls from before the basement and after the basement. They likely still perceive it as monsters keeping them in their cage. They see the people outside the walls as equivalent to the titans once keeping them locked, which is a really interesting parallel to how the people of Marley view the Eldians. The only real difference is that popular opinion has shifted from "Titans are unbeatable, let's just sit in the walls." to "These MONSTROUS humans ARENT unbeatable, let's kill em all!"

Still nothing justifiable but at least we know it's true. In 2000 years many people died devoured, annihilated families, children, young people, etc. Still, as the story is focused on the Paradisians we feel sorry for them. They have all suffered. But still Paradise got the worst of it all. Well, there were many devoured in ignorance, crushed and sacrificing their lives for absolutely nothing.

    The beginning of the episode with Jean thinking about Marco really got me in the feels. Jean has always been one of my favorite characters. He was really smug and full of himself when the show first started. But we've slowly seen him become someone who is willing to become a leader. He can't just give up and relax like Floch wanted him to. Because then he'd feel like he was disappointing Marco.
    Yelena: Oh? You want to call me out? That's cool. How about I pull out some receipts then?
    Also, people have been saying Floch only cares about power. But this episode kinda disproves that. If he really cared about being in charge, he could've just as easily sent someone he trusted to take his place. But him going to the front lines himself and potentially putting his life on the line shows how devoted he is to save Eldia. He's willing to be that Devil to ensure his people's safety. The Devil he saw in Erwin and Eren.
    But just like I can like both Reiner and Eren, I like both Jean and Floch as characters. Even if they're fighting on opposing sides right now.

      Floch laughed about the fact that some of his people will turn into titans.

    • @alexinator-hh5fe
      @alexinator-hh5fe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@neh4797 Well, most of the people turned into titans were MP's. And Floch's experience with the MP's are that they're lazy, corrupt, and they tried to take Eren's powers away. They even had a secret division that "disappeared" people whenever they wanted to learn the truth of the world. Does that mean every MP is the worst of the worst? No. But, I can definitely see why Floch doesn't really care about them. Also, of course Floch has no time to think about the people crushed by the wall. With Eren gone, he has to be the leader of the Yeagerists. He has to keep Paradise together and ensure Eren succeeds. Are you expecting him to just burst out in tears? The point of Eren, Erwin, and Floch is that they're all willing to make heartless decisions if it means achieving victory.

    Yes, of course it would be ideal for everyone to try to understand each other and thus consequently see that in the end Wars and conflicts in general are a disgrace, but what Attack on Titan is showing well is that in the end what matters is WHO HAS THE POWER to make something happen by force, because no matter how much arguments or justifications one side has before the other, even if it is correct or at least a little less wrong, if it is the weakest, it will be subjugated by the other..

  • @bryanolivera7818
    @bryanolivera7818 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Jean's hatred is understandable for everything that Reiner and Annie did, but, as Yelena said, he and others (such as Armin) also did questionable things, although there is also the issue of the war, in which, it is not that Justify any immoral and heartless act if it doesn't become more understandable.
    Something similar is the rumble of Eren, the death of thousands of people CANNOT be morally justified, however, Paradis is at war, and, if we think about it, it has been since they invaded its territory years ago, a situation like this does not leave many options and if the eldianos of paradis had to choose between being destroyed or supporting a movement that seeks to destroy their enemies, and save them, they would choose the second option,
    stop a genocide with another genocide.

    • @EnCey2
      @EnCey2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's okay if Jean can't forgive Reiner, he doesn't need to be his buddy, the important thing is that he doesn't want to take revenge and can tolerate and live with Reiner. Maybe he can forgive in time. If all could you that, there wouldn't be a problem.
      As to the Rumbling: no. You can't equalize genocides, what Eren does is unforgivable. He will kill billions that never did anything to Eldians, maybe never even saw one. Paradise could have fought a defensive war with a part of the Rumbling, just defend their shores and from there on go with diplomacy, try to win allies and convince the world they aren't monsters. The untold numbers of colossals are expendable soldiers. Maybe the Founder can change Eldian DNA to remove the ability to turn Titan. There would be options

      @@EnCey2 Of course, if everyone could forgive, the world of snk it would be different. now regarding the rumble,
      Of course, what Eren does is unforgivable, and that a defensive strategy would be "better", but there are some points that I think are interesting,
      1) It is true that the eldians of the world never did any physical harm to the dianos of paradise, but they do consider them demons and support Marley to destroy them.
      2) All the eldians of the world and other countries would never accept a real peaceful solution to the conflict (it was they who declared war), and if paradise decide to do a "mini rumbling" they would be confirming to the world that they are "demons" by returning to use the titans to face them (sounds hypocritical but they think so)
      3) The hate would not end, especially during and after a war, and that is what Eren wanted to end
      4) Sooner or later Eldia would be defeated since she couldn't modernize (because the world would attack Hizuru and paradise couldn't defend it if the intention is to have a defensive posture)

Had the azimbitos brought him up Ana try to see if they could set a private meeting with hange and friends then they could’ve came up with some benefits for paradis and Marley and maybe later the world. Now do note that this is just a possibility. They’ve already thought about diplomatic solutions, but just went about it the wrong way or relied on the wrong people. When Hange states that the members of the SC that died would not support the rumbling, she quite frankly wrong. They died without knowing about the outside world and how they caused the living hell with titans on Paradis. People often say "Marley's understandable, but not the whole world." This is genocide, arguing scale doesn't improve the situation. Marley actually seems to treat Eldians the best outside of nations such as Hizuru. Jean is absolutely right, stopping Eren guarantees the destruction of the island. The entirety of Part 2 was, "Marley invades and tries to wipe out Paradis, Eren commences Rumbling to genocide the world." I think I'll take Paradis over a brainwashed outside world that follows a false truth. At the end of the day, these are fictitious events and are not real.

    • @felix_patriot
      @felix_patriot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      The nature of a hero is that they are self-sacrificing. The scouts understand that not everyone outside of the walls are evil. In fact, the majority couldn't care less about whether you are eldian or not, they just want to go on with their lives (as seen in 4x28). Killing _everyone_ just in case they might not like eldians is the equivalent of saying you and me, innocent people, should die for the discrimination of racist people. If the jews, who were brought to the brink of extinction after the holocaust, decided that to protect themselves and their own loved ones, they were going to kill everyone else in the world, do you think they would be justified? Would you be fine sitting where you are right now and a giant foot crushes you and your family? The scouts just have a high enough amount of moral integrity to sacrifice themselves for a greater good. Some of them stumble at times, such as Connie nearly surrendering to his emotions and bringing back his mother, but in the end they stay rational, and decide to risk the thousands in the walls to save the billions outside of them, because inside the walls and across the sea, its all the same.
      Eren was pushed into believing that the genocide plan was the right answer by a few things. 1. he watched his mother die powerless to stop it, 2. he watched hannes die powerless to stop it, 3. now he knows the rest of his lifespan will be short and that his friends lives are in danger, 4. he has power and opportunity to stop it. He's haunted by his past mistakes and doesn't want it to happen to them too.

      @@hectorfeuer8138 THEY'RE LITERALLY AT WAR???? wtf. She was safe? How? They literally wanted to kill Levi and she LITERALLY saved him💀 But you're right, as you said, a leader should inspire their people, and just like you saw in THIS episode, SHE INSPIRED them to fight for HUMANITY just like they always have. They choose to stop Eren, they choose to help Hange, because they're scouts. Forever and always.
