It really just goes to show how evil Light Yagami is deep down. A perfect example of 'absolute power is absolutely corrrupting'. When Light loses his memory he regresses to a honest man. It is entirely possible that Light would just go on with his life, likely following in his fathers footsteps and becoming a detective and never killing anyone. But when Light gets the power he holds with the Death Note he just losses it. Upon first watching the series I thought maybe the book itself was evil, but no one is really changed by the book except Light. Misa is still Misa, both L and Near touch the book and don't change. Higuichi just uses it to serve his own greed but that's exactly who he was before getting the book. Light on the other hand has a deep rooted sadistic nature unleashed by the book. He would be a terrible tyrannical leader if he got his way.
Ray and Naomi's deaths were the hardest to swallow in this anime for me. My God! Ray even who unknowingly killed his co-agents in a piece of death note meaning he can neither go to Heaven nor Hell.

I don't know of the Japanese differs from manga to anime, but the Black Edition of volumes 1 and 2 have the note say: "Naomi Misora Suicide Starting at 1:25 p.m. on January 1, 2004, thinks only of how best to commit suicide in such a way that nobody will be inconvenienced and her body will not be discovered, and dies by implementing this plan within 48 hours."
One of the best episodes of anything, ever. The incredibly tense buildup, music, voice acting, visuals, everything was just close to perfection. Personally, watching this for the frist time, like the reactors here are, I wouldn't be able to react in any other way than stare on fully immersed.
well technically Light isnt a villain. Hes an anti hero. I always find it funny how many people claim to love anti hero's but hate Light considering hes a perfect one. His goal is a perfect world devoid of crime for everyone too enjoy. His methods of obtaining this goal are inherently bad but at the end of the day its a perfectly heroic goal.

No, it reflects what Light says: he made a very daring, aggressive move as is his signature to kill the FBI agents and left the possibility for a fatal oversight. He did not account for the fact that he happened to tell Naomi about the bus and that she happened to be an FBI agent. Under those circumstances, even someone as brilliant as Light would be defeated.
They did this absolutely perfectly. I can't imagine it any better. Its like the appearance of the Armored Titan in AOT. Its also fascinating how, even though by this point, Light hasn't even caused 1% of the total deaths he will go on to cause, this shows him at possibly his coldest, most evil and most sociopathic self.

I remeber watching this anime a while back and come back to it I realize how Naomi really was not so bright. She was willing to tell her life story and everything she knew about Kira to a high-school student. I mean she is not stupid for using a fake name, but believing that Light was in investigation really showed no Brainer for her on that. But this Eps is amazing The conversation really turned in Light's favor.
I also thought naomi believing light to be one of member of task force is just stupid but in other hand she knew that he is son of lead detective case and has solve two case and she finds that L and light are similar so she might have trusted light. But in the end episode was excellent I was excited to see reaction of reactors.
@@clownop2655 the only flaw/plot convenience that I thought of in this chapter was that Naomi didn't ask for any further identification/proof that he was indeed a temporal member of the task force, but I just chalk it up to her grieving and being desperate to avenge her fiancé. plus she already said that Light reminds her of L, who she already trusts, so i imagine even if she didn't believe he was on the task force, she at least ruled out the possibility of him being Kira
This episode is amazing and Light is very smart, but seriously Naomi is pretty dumb for telling her intire life story to a boy she JUST met and on top of that believes that he (a high school student, come on!!!) worked on cases before. I love this episode but the whole thing for me it's clearly a script convenience... for real, she's supposed to be a top FBI agent and talks about her intimaces for a strange??? LOL
