I love Zizi and Roland who is one of my most favorite choreographers and personalities. Recently Zizi gave this costume as a gift to Vaganova Academy as it's rector Nikolai Tsiskaridze was one of Roland Petit's favorite dancers.
Ah she is such a good dancer and singer, I notice though most of her roles are sultry and sensual, not quite the good girl image from the musical hans christan anderson with Danny Kaye another great singer and comedian.
Why? Most of his work was bordering on the erotic and sensual, just look at Clavigo, Proust, as well as this Carman. He was way in front of the times, but brilliant and entertaining, but U needed to be broad minded.
@@lilibetp I'm sorry, it's not exact. This intermede is placed between acts II and IIII. The death of Don José's mother happens between acts III and IV. And we must be careful about the meanings of music, as said Bernstein. You hear sadness there, I hear an elegy to the wide open spaces and freedom, and in the second part of the piece, waves of sensuality. Subjectivity... ;-)

It is the orchestral piece between act II and act III in Carmen ; I don't hear there any leitmotiv of "Parle-moi de ma mère".
@@jefgong right, but that's when his mother died. I always figured Bizet put it there because Don Jose would be sad about his mother.
