I wish you the best of luck..... I have TED (became a problem 9 days post Covid Vaccine). I got "lucky" and both my eye got stuck aligned with each other.... and then post orbital radiation the eye movement improved. I too had problems looking at people in the face which is awkward when meeting a new person. I hope you see a major improvement after your surgery.... And thank you for sharing your story.... it helps others to know they are not alone.
I have been following your TED journey as it is similar to mine . I am pleased to say I had strabismus surgery December fifth and it has been a Blessing . Double vision is all but gone. Slightly in the morning . Prayers to you for surgery!!
It took about three weeks to be able to see in all directions !! I stumbled around for about a week not being able to look down at the floor without double vision. After three weeks I could drive . Best wishes to you!!
Hey Rick! I had my first surgery over the last summer and another one in late November to “fine tune”. If I were to assign a percentage of improvement I’d say it’s easily 75% better. No double vision in most of my usable sight picture. Peripherals still suffer, but I can deal with that! Recuperation was way easier than I thought it’d be too. They operated on 6 muscles total in both eyes the first time and 2 muscles in one eye the second. I’m super thankful I got the surgery and a fantastic Dr. Best of luck to you sir!
Thanks for the update. I do hope you post again after surgery. And I hope it goes great...I saw a strabismus surgeon but for the time being I'm not going ahead because I do not have double vision. He actually said surgery could cause double vision in my case. My problem is that both my inferior rectus muscles are "scarred down" so I have no up gaze. However they are symmetrical. It's really bizarre. I can't roll my eyes. And it's really uncomfortable going into big shopping centres because I can't look up and scan my surroundings. But of course that's not important in the greater scheme of things.
Sounds like what I got on my right eye. No up gaze. And it is really strange. I feel like my left eye is fine but I don’t know and the doctor said we’d worry about the left eye later. What about prisms? Have they talked to you about them?
I am so happy to hear that you are getting the Strabismus surgery. I had mine done in October. The healing was fast but it took about 2 months to really see the full results. The Double Vision was fone immediately but it still took time to the muscles moving again. Wishing you all the.
Good luck, Rick! Keep us posted, please!

Great news. Out of curiosity, when did you initially get TED. I feel like it’s taken a long time to get to the surgery for me.
