I really dig what you're doing and the "whys" behind it all. I see other companies buying and building these vehicles and I always revert back to Plan B. I hope I'm able to get one. Thanks for what you're doing!

Start at govplanet or ironplanet. I got mine for $4k. It was basically ready to drive after replacing all the fluids. After that, I have only had to do standard maintenance stuff. It's much more affordable than you think. The only downside is you have to put up a $2k guarantee in an escrow account before you can bid, but it will be returned if you close your account.
It's affordable...alot of these guys buy em...clean em and quad sell them. They are good projects and fun builds but once you spend over 50k on a "built one" you might realize you could have just done it yourself...at a way cheaper rate.

@@mrdato116 govplanet or ironplanet. Look it up. There's still a bunch of good deals out there. Just make sure that the auction is for a vehicle that can be road titled.
@@farmsgrace341 I am looking on govplanet and lowest price for running Humvees is around 7000$( some of them have blow by, not sure if that is a serious problem). I am looking in Sold section, deals for the past year. I guess 2 years ago when you got yours, prices were lower.
Edit: Apparently dan has ghosted me when following up on getting additional repairs covered by Plan B after I had gotten the vehicle home with under 1700 miles on it. It took two trips a couple days each , up to Utah from Texas to pick-up my Duramax conversion. Several issues were identified with the build, and they were addressed, but it took them SEVERAL attempts to get things right. Additional repairs shift linkage and electrical system required, aside from the additional grinding I had to personally perform on my brake calipers since no shops locally wanted to perform the repair.
Do you recommend ordering one with them?

@@savinogervasio8202 overall, been fun! Biggest money pit I've ever experienced, plus more attention getting than most of my other vehicles. I'm really not into that part, but just depends on your expectations.

I live in California! I know, I know. I can almost guarantee this is one of the three states he mentioned about have problems with registering. They F'ed up a title transfer!
The price for a humvee from you guys to me sounds extremely fair and when I ever get the cash to buy a first vehicle I’d be more than happy to get the Humvee Rambo from you guys (being a big fan of the older Humvee) and besides having a stripped down Humvee like the Rambo gives a great chance for customization in the sense of action recording purposes!

Did you ever get it resolved ?
@@ibberman it took them over one year and having to air the issue out here , and begrudgingly they sent a check. Disappointed that it had to go.that way cuz initially pretty nice people. Also, never received a wiring diagram so its been alot of reverse engineering.
The speed doesn't matter to me. My truck's top speed was only forty five MPH but I still had fun with it.
Are these vehicles able to be shipped and registered in Canada? Or is it something you've ever done?

Are these 24V or 12V? Any issue finding or adapting electrical parts like a heater, stereo, CB, lights, etc.?

Trying to get the state to allow me to register this. I like your goals. Place capable equipment into the hands of hobbyists which in-turn increases the possibility of help or aid in disaster situations.
Maybe you can present this case to some of these states’ governors.
I wonder if they could be shipped to Australia and registered for on road use?

Have you ever shipped to a customer in Canada ? If so ... hassles ? Second in a future video could you go a little deeper into the EMP hardening issues?
The paperwork I had to sign for mine said they are not allowed to be exported outside of the United States. So I'm not sure if you could really get one or not.

You didnt say so but id guess one of those problem states is Michigan. Have you had any of your customers successfully register and keep registered their Humvees? Ive heard Michigan has retroactively pulled titles from them before. I want a Humvee with a Cummins Turbo Diesel so badly but I can't spend $50,000 on an Off Road only toy.
I saw that the Senate introduced a Bill last year to include Humvees as a class of historic military vehicles for on-road use. The governor vetoed it in December. I'm in the same boat, hoping to own one without being nervous every day.
Yeah found that as well searching online. Right now on govplanet they are selling Humvees that do not have the “Off Road Use Only” restriction on them. However I feel like your still in the same boat even if you buy one of those because it seems like the state of Michigan has decided not to register them for on road use period regardless of if there is no legal force against doing so.
I would really love to have one of these because I have always thought they were badass trucks, but in the end it just doesn’t make sense to blow anywhere between $15,000 - $50,000 dollars on a vehicle you can’t even drive on the roads.

You mentioned in your video that there are three states that you have trouble with what three states are they I live in Michigan and I have not seen one Humvee registered in the state of Michigan

Love what your doing but if I do an engine upgrade on humvee, does it have to be the duramax? Is there other options like power stroke or Cummins?

Th3 Cummins is a better engine. In-line six for a diesel will always be a better option than a V8 diesel.
I wonder, one thing was not said here. What about reliability of those all components and mechanical parts in these rigs? These are pretty old machines and parts are worn out due to time passing by. Gaskets become hard and brittle, grease old and vapoured. I do not belive you may treat as new even with only few miles on it. Duramax conversion, how long it's going to last in 25 years old vehicle..,
We can do a full restoration if you'd like. This would be the same as doing any powertrain swap in a corvette or mustang of old.
