I routinely drove my Humvee 60+ MPH in sunny Iraq on supply runs to minimize the issues of IEDs. If you get a military hard-top version with air conditioning you may be disappointed as the A/C is marginal. Generally, the Humvees are very reliable and simple to repair. If you get the 5-ton military truck think if it as an oversized Humvee. The simplicity carries over. You can drive with your parking brakes on, and your trailer's parking brakes on and you'll never know it. Lots of low end power!

I went to the hmmwv assembly plant in Indiana when I was active duty. a trick to FULLY lock the wheels in these things is to gently hold the brake pedal then pushing the gas pedal. The guy who showed us this climbed up a wall till it was completely upright. when they started slapping armor on them they beefed up the suspension and put the turbo on them. even with the added weight of the armor, the turbo made these things a whole new animal. the NA ones were dogs-as were the old coupvees (chevy blazers) I loved watching the Marines come blasting off the LCU's ramps into the ocean and the hmmwv would be completely swamped under water, then creep out of the ocean, open the doors and water flows out. hahaha. good stuff gents, keep it up!

Hi. I know you work on a lot of M998 Was wondering if you ever ran across problem with no low beam on drivers side only? I see this to be a common problem but no answers on what the cause or repair is? Can you help please? Is there a headlight control module?
Also, the h1 "pannels" are for sound proofing and insalation. Without that it's horible loud and hot/cold. The H1 also has dual ac, heated windshield (not defrost) with 99% uv blocking rating. Also, the H1 I have is rated for 88mph and can tow over 10,000 pounds.
I'm a little confused. First, isn't a turbo 400 a 4 speed? Not a 3 speed? I didn't know they came with the turbo 400 option I thought they were all electric, 4L80e transmissions. Also, the transfer case... 4 hi, 4 hi lock, 4 low lock. I thought the lock was an electronic torque converter lockup for decelerating down hills... The hummers do not have locking axles.... Am I incorrect?
Oh you will have a blast doing off road! I rode in one from Camp new York Kuwait all the up to Baq'uba Iraq back in 04 not to mention I drove the snot of one for the 4 years of active duty while in Germany. Very versatile vehicles and whole lot of fun to take into the mud. Maintenance wasn't too bad either other than a few leaks. Oh and I can personally vouch for the 81 mph top speed. Done it countless times on the A3, A6, A73, A6 Autobahn in Germany Traveling from Vilseck to Bamberg and other areas for training. Much Love for that monster from me. Enjoy the time they give you with it my friend. ;)
OOHH I've got a question for you :P Was the engine/lack of speed really an issue? I'm thinking about getting a LR Defender for my first car, but they've got very little power as well... Thanks for your service as well.
+Sgt C4 well they are slow, you can do normal highway speeds in them eventually. Lol The pulling powers pretty good though I've never towed anything really heavy. Mostly, I just enjoyed driving it
This dude is literally making money while doing the bare minimum honestly. If you’ve been in the military you’ll know. Seats don’t cost a lot and painting the truck can be done anywhere
SosaGamer It costs allot more then you think. All humvees you buy straight off the line need work. Some parts are not cheap. The bare minimum cost allot but they are still making a killing off the ones they sell. I rebuild and sell these as well so I've got allot of first hand experience at it. It's fun but not cheap if you do ot right.
I've been looking for quite awhile now and the prices continue to fall as the market sees more and more conversions. I think it is a great thing we are recycling our military aluminum😁 anyway, I loved the video a lot and learned alot. thanks!
I drove these in the USMC. Talk about gutless! Need a engine option with a carbureted crate big block. Keeps it simple electrically but has big power/torque.
The soldier took me off roading through some uneven ground, a few moguls, and then through some mud. It was by far the worst off road dampen ride I have ever went on. The cool factor was certainly there, but I was shocked at how bone jarring the suspension is in these. I would never buy one after that experience. Way more vehicles out there to choose from to create your own planB escape.
As i know injectors are mechanical,so nothing electronic here. the only electronic devices are the shut off solenoid valve to cut and allow fuel supply and diodes for the glow plugs relay.
🤣🤣🤣 I've seen cheap 90s Toyotas pickup boat through water deeper than that. Hope your Plan B has worked out. You guys are really awesome. Understand that Hummers are NOT for civilian/expeditionary stuff.
Ford SVT Raptor - Ultimate Apocalypse Vehicle (UAV) Actually, isn't the Raptor about as wide as an H1 Hummer? I like this though, and I like the fact that an American Company is taking these and building them to what people are obviously buying for a variety of reasons! As well, all the questions about fuel economy and availability, in an Apocalypse situation, are you really going to be going out on road trips, or is more about the capability to get around in horrible situations.
Raptor runs on gas, gas starts to go bad after about 3 months. Diesel will keep for about a year before it starts to have trouble if stored decently, and can keep even longer. Diesel vehicle will be usable longer.
I luved the video bro, very informative & cruising down the road with flags flying means don't mess with me,I'm all American and will take you out!Very nice and informative bro
Nice! 4wd, stout and super cool looking... and EMP proof. But affordable? I guess if u got lots of xtra $$$. I buy old trucks all the time for under 1000 bucks put about 1000 bucks in em and drive the crap out of them. My 66 Dodge D200 is EMP proof gets about 10MPG and goes about anywhere except past a gas station. I took an IED hit in an up armour so I do got a soft spot for these, one in my head and one in my hip haha....But more power to you dude for giving the people what they want! and honestly if I had extra cash and room id buy one of these from DRMO... 66 D200 2x4 79 F250 4x4 78 CJ 7 4x4 03 WRX AWD (slightly mod-ed) 94 DR650 (mod-ed)
I heard a lot of bad things about poor quality materials, mechanical issues and quick deterioration after the trucks leave their shop. Their intentions seems genuine, I wanted one so bad but I am really thinking about not taking the risk.
There is a misconception that the humvee is some super, non-getting-stuck, off-road, go anywhere, do anything vehicle, but I have probably gotten stuck in a humvee more then in my personnel rig. I remember driving those huncks of crappie for hours and for 28k+ I would rather get a more comfortable vehicle.
lmao. so tell me again how easy it is to change tires on a split rim. your a funny man. still waiting on that dot stamp on the hweel. oh yeah, i have several sets of those in the shed so i already know.
Where are you going to get parts when SHTF? Where are you going to get diesel? Preppers are stupid. 9 times out of 10 you shouldn't bug out. You should bug in. You can store more supplies in your house/bunker than you could ever carry with you at a moment's notice.
Some people have bug out location. So all they might need is one full tank to get to their destination to bug in. Or if your at work and a natural disaster hits while your trying to get home. Or maybe they want to go overlanding/camping and just like the vehicle.
The nice thing about older diesels is they are pretty flexible about what they will burn. As for bugging in vs out I mostly agree but it depends where you live and the nature of the emergency.
Hunkering down in your place isn't always the best answer, especially if you live in a urban or even a built up suburban area. Bugging out to a pre-determined area is a better answer imo. And you can also run diesels on a variety of fuels besides diesel.
I have a M998 with the 6.2 & a 3spd. If you do 60mph it is so loud inside you need earplugs, it feels like its at its limits. that 3 Spd is shit. I haven't got the cash but it needs a cummins, Allison swap then it is awesome. it gets about 15mpg now, not a fuel guzzler at all. You can always find diesel fuel somewhere.
So let me see if I have this right.... Plan B takes a Humvee from auction for no more then $10,000 or, gets them a whole lot cheaper because they buy them in bulk direct from the base. Then they add paint & seats, refresh fluids and whatever is bad, maybe new top or just clean and that makes them now worth $29,000????? I could see if they rebuilt the engines and trans but don't see where the $20,000 is coming from. But hey, I am sure some will buy them and that is good for business.
getting them titled for highway use can get kinda pricey. paint job, new seats, hard doors, id say they probably setting around $18k in one. still a pretty good profit.
"offer sound dampening" The one they were filming in didn't sound like it had sound dampening. Also would be great if it goes underwater, to keep the water outside the vehicle.
My Pinzgauer will go anywhere this will, and even further, while fitting down narrower roads, climbing steeper grades, and getting better gas mileage. All stock.
81 mph? Maybe downhill in a hurricane. Oh, the bush bumper upgrade? That's odd. I've never seen or drove a military HUMVEE that didn't have one... And it's like driving a tractor. And ragtop HUMVEEs are like driving a tent ON a tractor. That slant back HUMVEE does look nice. Maybe offer a turbo on those doggy GM diesels. Affordable to the average American? Ha. All for the price of a brand new JEEP UNLIMITED RUBICON, which is just as capable if not more. Just my $.02.
James Relinski He said they are governed, been trying to figure that out myself. Of course u don't want to stick kids straight out of high school in a armored vehicle that can go 70 ish .....
Ya, he was full of sh$% on so many "facts". Said he "averaged" 71MPH on a long trip. That is crazy. No 6.2 with the 3 speed will get up to 81MPH. Complete lie. Lot's of red flags in this video
Personally the only thing that really ever bothered me is the 2 facts that it doesn't have a key ignition.. they were just ignition switches.. and that their transmissions didn't have park.. and you were forced to always rely on a working parking brake while trans is placed in neutral
slasher7555 the newer generation has a 4 speed and does in fact have a park gear. I have only driven a few 3 speed ones that have been left over compound ornaments. Stuff built after the 90s improved a bit. The thing that bothered me: we take them on convoys on the guard and reserve side... take 10 out you’re towing 1, had to majorly repair a couple more, and may end up towing those as well. They’re maintenance intensive and while the TM is quite readily available now (9-2320-280-20-1 for operator for that generation) they do require some specialty tools. For example the hub nut. That’s not a common run to Napa and buy it.
fw1421 this is not good for shtf scenario Because diesel and gas limited also gas guzzler also diesel old truck like 97 f-350 7.3 power stroke not good shtf nuclear winter extreme cold weather no electricity to plug in
The tech in these things are ancient but they look badass. You think you could fit a bigger engine inside. But If I bought one it would need a turret door
Require electronics for the glow plugs and injectors eh? Replace the glow plug controller with a momentary on toggle switch... And I don't know what the crap they did to the injectors, but our old ass 6.2s only require electricity to activate the solenoid in the injection pump... Also doable without EMP-sensitive electronics.
28K for a truck thats at least 5 times as durable and rugged as these 60K trucks now days is a hell of a deal in my opinion.

I want one, those are awesome. I loved driving mine with the marines several years ago
OOHH I've got a question for you :P
Was the engine/lack of speed really an issue? I'm thinking about getting a LR Defender for my first car, but they've got very little power as well...
Thanks for your service as well.
+Sgt C4 well they are slow, you can do normal highway speeds in them eventually. Lol
The pulling powers pretty good though I've never towed anything really heavy.
Mostly, I just enjoyed driving it
LFTD offroad Ok thanks.
Nice job on the modifications. One good addition would be putting some kind of closable storage box on top of those huge space-taking consoles!
6,2 liters of absolutely nothing but horrible fuel consumption... Can someone who knows better tell me are they at least reliable?
I've been looking for quite awhile now and the prices continue to fall as the market sees more and more conversions. I think it is a great thing we are recycling our military aluminum😁 anyway, I loved the video a lot and learned alot. thanks!
I drove these in the USMC. Talk about gutless! Need a engine option with a carbureted crate big block. Keeps it simple electrically but has big power/torque.
Agreed. These vehicles are like driving a concrete block. HEAVY.
Can ya still buy a 572ci Crate motor?
These look amazing, but recently I had a chance to ride in a mil spec one right off a base. Unless there is some suspension upgrade
Did you Black nitrate the body or any other metal Parts on it
What’s the price of the gray one being test driven?
Agree. Humvee is awesome!
As i know injectors are mechanical,so nothing electronic here.
the only electronic devices are the shut off solenoid valve to cut and allow fuel supply and diodes for the glow plugs relay.
Is there any type of locker?
Welcome to Utah, Andre! Can't wait to see part 2.
+Utah Overland Adventures Thanks!
does it come with birth control capsules?
Wouldn't any pre 74 vehicle be emp proof?
🤣🤣🤣 I've seen cheap 90s Toyotas pickup boat through water deeper than that. Hope your Plan B has worked out. You guys are really awesome. Understand that Hummers are NOT for civilian/expeditionary stuff.
Just an FYI, Gale Banks makes a turbo for the old 6.2 GM Diesel.
are all military humvees automatic transmission?
Also, the 55mp is recomended due to the gear rario and the gears in the hubs. It will blow up.
Could you tow a 18 foot open trailer with a utv and quad just fine?
Non ethanol gas lasts for years in a sealed container.
fordrac1ng81 Very few places in the US will have non-ethanol gas.
I luved the video bro, very informative & cruising down the road with flags flying means don't mess with me,I'm all American and will take you out!Very nice and informative bro
You can buy a surplus Humvee for 10 grand. Change the fluids and battery and they're pretty bulletproof.
Does the windshield on a Humvee fold down on the hood like a Jeep?
+Mr. Nationwide Yes, it does. It folds.
depends on the model
buy a land cruiser or a Nissan patrol/safari real offroaders and really reliable
Nissans are garbage
You might have got it to 81mph, but the real queastion is how long did it take?
Oh nooo! What a jam! Can't wait to see that video!
I have that exact same Walt Disney World hat that the Plan B guy is wearing!! :D
how hard is it to find parts for keeping it maintained? and is it expensive to maintain it?
dereileak its not that hard and the maintance depends on if you do it yourself or let somebody do it and how much you want to pay for parts
66 D200 2x4
79 F250 4x4
78 CJ 7 4x4
03 WRX AWD (slightly mod-ed)
94 DR650 (mod-ed)
I heard a lot of bad things about poor quality materials, mechanical issues and quick deterioration after the trucks leave their shop. Their intentions seems genuine, I wanted one so bad but I am really thinking about not taking the risk.
lol that end clip is funny!!!Wow civilians!! Truck is under water its still running but i'm freeking out lol.
How about using big block patrol V8?
If you get one of these where do you go to service it.
Zachary Lankford any good mechanic. Allot of parts are common parts. If you need a part you can always order online.
Please do some stuff on the 6x6!
+dwayneg99 We will have videos with the 6x6.
awesome guys. Thanks!
ya thanks for doing 6x6 stuff to i was going to ask that
Good one Andre
how much mpg? I plan in using it in the UK and daily it as my first car
About 13mpg city I think and did you get it yet?
how do I get one at the price u guys pay.
Nice Job.. wheres the 50 cal?
looking for suppliers for parts of military vehicles such as HMMWV M113 or BMY, if anyone has information I would greatly appreciate it!
Actually the 6x6s use a variety of fuels
Hunkering down in your place isn't always the best answer, especially if you live in a urban or even a built up suburban area. Bugging out to a pre-determined area is a better answer imo. And you can also run diesels on a variety of fuels besides diesel.
Beautiful vehicle
do any of the models have AC?
I have a M998 with the 6.2 & a 3spd. If you do 60mph it is so loud inside you need earplugs, it feels like its at its limits. that 3 Spd is shit. I haven't got the cash but it needs a cummins, Allison swap then it is awesome. it gets about 15mpg now, not a fuel guzzler at all. You can always find diesel fuel somewhere.
The 3 speed is a reliable transmission, I still wouldn't get one but I heard good things about it
So let me see if I have this right....
Does anyone know if the duramax conversion kits work on this humvee?
Yes it works they can tune to 500hp and 1000ftlbs torque also some companies can do a ls3 swap
"offer sound dampening" The one they were filming in didn't sound like it had sound dampening. Also would be great if it goes underwater, to keep the water outside the vehicle.
@2:26
"is it quieter than the dually truck?"
"it is not, it is less wide, it's only 7ft"
you correctly answered the question with a wrong answer!
I'm 6'3", do you think there is enough leg room for someone of my height? These Humvee's seem like a good deal.
My Pinzgauer will go anywhere this will, and even further, while fitting down narrower roads, climbing steeper grades, and getting better gas mileage. All stock.
Want this buy? Total cost?
So if I bought one I could join you guys if it happens
James Relinski
He said they are governed, been trying to figure that out myself.
I still miss the Humvee. Beast on the road, pissed of a lot of Green freaks, and fought for the country.
Um so when you put turn signal on please turn it off. Your not that old!!!
That's beast, I wish there was a Humvee model with a manual!
There was never a single one made.
Nevil Easterling And that's why I said "I wish"
It's made for American's, same goes for all there trucks, we can wish but it's never going to happen unfortunately
Can I order one overseas?
Best car for apocalypse!
Do they have A/C? I live in Texas, gotta have A/C!
fw1421 this is not good for shtf scenario Because diesel and gas limited also gas guzzler also diesel old truck like 97 f-350 7.3 power stroke not good shtf nuclear winter extreme cold weather no electricity to plug in
You can add it for about 1200 or so
The tech in these things are ancient but they look badass. You think you could fit a bigger engine inside. But If I bought one it would need a turret door
Spit out your freaking gum when you are in an interview. I mean, really.
Damn!! risa i don't find him annoying.. i find you annoying.. this is not some job interview. Please be considerate
@@jandom9008 nah man, i gotta agree with her on this.
if there's no ignition key then how do u keep people from stealing it?
claymore, you use claymore for security
It has lockable doors. :P
The military uses a cable and lock on the steering wheel. so you can start it but not steer it.
I'd want one original with the turret. Bc I'll be getting a class 3 tax stamp when I get the money as well as a ma duece
I would love to upgrade engine with smaller and better turbo-petrol version.
Wow, I think I just might buy one
