Mentally incompetent to be a caregiver, that’s for sure.
@hoosierbaddy3052 I disagree only on one part.... The son is a grown ass adult man. If he wants to give his money away and starve ...stupid but that's HIS business to do. His father, on the other hand, didn't sign up to be starved because of his son's make believe lover.
it's called loneliness and desperation. I knew Michael in real life, he's a really good dude. Don't judge if you've never been in his situation. I always felt he was seeking companionship and lonely, and when i say companionship, i meant females, not male. Cause hanging out with guys is different than having a life partner to lean on to and give your life too. I think he desperately wanted it, i felt it, but i never spoke to him on it. Never thought this would happen to him, but he did seem naïve at times.
@dumamay283 Well, Michael's Friend, I am going to double down on what I commented, and since you are such an advocate for him why didn't you help pull him out of this romance scam? Why didn't you help your friend meet women in person? And mainly even if he wanted to continue with this online "lady" why did his father have to suffer for Michaels "loneliness and desperation?"🤔
$1200 airline ticket from Virginia to NY? This man must have never bought a plane ticket in his life. It's really hard to feel sorry for the people on this show. It's sad that people are this desperate to not be alone.
The problem is, even if he found out the actual cost of the flight, these scumbags will come up with "tangible" reasons for the additional cost. The secret is never send money to anyone without knowing who they are and certainly not an online 'friend'.
I don’t think in his case it’s the “not being alone” he told that he had women. Probably tought with the wrong “head.” I am forever alone and really alone without even friends and would never never fall for something like this
He was referring to how he acted when he was young, not how he thinks of himself currently, which I think is reasonable. A lot of young ppl are like that.
Normally I don't feel sorry for many of these people, but this guy was one of those exceptions. These soulless scammers will predate on people with psychological problems. Some of the "victims " are elderly or socially naive. This man is a decent person but socially ignorant. I hope that he puts his life back together.
It’s mind boggling that no one around him told him he wasn’t exercising good judgment. We have seen people on here that ignore advice from friends and family, but he doesn’t seem like he would have done that. I think he would have cut them off, but he was sunk into it and had no discernment whatsoever. He genuinely seems to have not had anyone around to have pointed out some very obvious red flags with his scammers stories.
Yeah - same here! How do they get so much money? I see intelligent resourceful people struggling to get by - I'm guessing these people must just inherit their wealth.
These scammers are ruthless & do not care about what happens to their victims. A young 12 year old boy just committed suicide in Canada. He thought he was talking to a young girl & got talked into sending compromising photos. He was then immediately blackmailed & he shot himself. This is the second similar story I’ve heard of & I’m sure there’s so much more.
He keeps saying about needing to "support her" a person he's never seen in real life meanwhile his dad, a person with actual care needs, might be at risk of not getting the help he needs because of Michael's growing financial issues. So how great is this guy really?

A shame. They say women are delusional but I don’t see it that way. Women pull themselves apart and compare themselves to other women every day. Men…they really don’t ever look at themselves as unattractive, aging, fat or nothing. For him to even believe that a younger woman who looked like her would be interested in him is insane. There’s a big chance that a woman his age would have a hard time getting a dime from him.
I’m sitting here in a relationship- we each have college degrees and we are teachers. I can’t fathom having an extra …even $500 to help myself, let alone a stranger. Where do people get this kind of money?
He's diabetic and skipping meals to make sure his dad had enough to eat. That's crazy. As his father's care giver, he has an obligation to take care of himself as well or he won't be around to help his dad. That alone makes me want to slap him. Then the fact that he's dumb enough to think that an active duty service member would need help paying medical expenses. And her message "send my money to my friends cashapp" had me feeling sick to my stomach. It's not HER money, it's HIS money. So he's working overtime, racking up debt, lost his car... and still wants to send money to someone who has flaked out on meeting him after he's paid for multiple plane tickets. What the hell is wrong with this guy?
Even if he’s totally gullible, it’s ridiculous that he puts her needs (someone he has never met and who ghosts him) ahead of his dad who has medical and financial problems and who depends on his support.
it’s called mental illness unfortunately… some people are very lonely and the connection they get from the scammer albeit fantastical and unrealistic is the closest thing they will get to affection and connection. the guy literally said the longest relationship he has in his whole life was 6 months… probably when he was 18? recipe for disaster
Why do they keep naming the scammer - reinforcing that IT MIGHT be a legit woman …..using the scammers fake name (seems to me) to reinforce the fake persona.
she was basically an escape for this guy. if you have ever taken care of elderly parents its no joke. so kudos to him for taking care of his parents instead of abandoning them like most these days do. This one is sad.
I was in an online relationship for 3 years before breaking it off. We visited in person a year after “dating” 3 years in and he refused to take it farther beyond visiting once a year. Can’t imagine ever allowing myself to be taken advantage of for this long…
Dude would have been much better off if he hired an escort once a week for 24hrs. He could hire a woman who looks exactly how he wants, she would be willing to go out with him and have sex with him and pretend to be his gf. Even if he did this once a week, he would still be better off financially- and he would have a real human that he could have the physical relationship that he wants.
I just can't comprehend it at all because if you really don't know this person why like maybe I can understand once maybe twice but if their only message is about ways to send money it's just ridiculous
Maybe not specify going to the gym 3 times a week .. concentrate more on personality.. and whether they have a kind heart .. It's always an "image" that grabs the victim in first .
That's the problem. I understand this stuff happens, but you have to be careful with your heart and feelings and not let them get in the way. Love is blind and he wanted that fantasy, but there were so many obvious signs there that I'm shocked he didn't see something was up sooner. If someone keeps making excuses for not wanting to see me or excuses in general, move the hell on. Like, did this guy even have a phone call with her?
67 thousand on plane tickets.. accidents ..deaths... arrested... I hope karma comes back to this scammer. This guy is still sending her money aftet all this.

This guy will never be rich enough to adequately provide for a family. He needs to keep to himself and live in piece. Forget women. I don't get how you can say that you're falling for someone without even seeing them on video chat. On top of that, they ask for money. I remember during the days of MSN I was suspicious of men who just wanted to chat without showing their face and just had a handful of photos. This is a very strange phenomenon.
I agree. If you aren’t in the same space with them, never having met them, I can’t fathom thinking you’re in a relationship. It’s absolutely bizarre to me. You aren’t “in love” with someone you’ve never met. “In desperation”, yes. But love? No.

He completely applied his mother's wisdom wrong. You can't apply it to someone you have never met. Wish him much healing and a loving relationship, in person of course
It could be dangerous to give well meaning advice to people with poor reasoning ability who will take it too literally and apply it to all situations . I tend to have that in all or nothing attitude myself at times .
People doing online date should make a promise to themselves to meet in person within 2 weeks or move on. If someone is on a dating site, they should be ready and willing to meet in person, no excuses. If they wont meet within 2 weeks you need to move on. The more time you invest the harder it is to move on and that's how the scammers set up the victims.
I'd say, aim for 2 weeks but if that's not possible then at least facetime from then on and NEVER send any money. If they ask for money they are no good for you anyway 😢
At minimum look for a partner that is in your area! I don’t understand why anyone would continue to chat with someone in another state/country if the point is to find companionship.
I think if they don't plan a date with you within 3 days move on unless you want a pen pall. Best advice I ever heard on dating. Saved me a lot of time and effort
That's what I do. I no longer do long distance dating. Started finally dating in person. And now I request a coffee date within a week or two of texting

He's a goofy. I don't feel sorry for a 42 year old man who's longest relationship is 6 months. He's not as nice and caring as he's trying to put on
For that old man having a longest relationship of 6 months means something is off
@@bldontmatter5319 yes. Forsaking family for a stranger even if she was real is unforgivable.
Just texting you from jail. No big deal. 🤦
How could you know, if no one around had a jail time 😂
He got involved so fast, most people that get scammed are vulnerable, they need company etc is sad.
This is madness starving yourself and going into debt to give someone you’ve never met your hard earned wedge. Being diabetic he should be fully aware of eating properly. After “Maria” didn’t show up at the airport he should have been done.
A $1200 plane ticket from Virginia to New York?? Really?? 😂😅😂
He will spend that but not buy a ticket from NY to Virginia to try a visit her? Even when she was is the hospital?
I can fly from Portland, Oregon to Johannesburg, South Africa for that!! 🤦🏽♀️
He should have vacationed in the Bahamas, 250 dollar flight
Maybe if they brought back the Concorde 😂
I flew from Fort lauderdale to Ny, L.A., and Seattle for less than $300.
The Scary thing is this Person Gave someones actual Social Security Number as well, so they've most likely scamming someone else at the same time but stealing their idenity as well.
This man deserves all the happiness in the world. Thank you for your kindness and handling of his situation. I worry for him and sure hope he can come out of it and find happiness!
We really need to put a stop to these scammers.
No! People need to not be so dumb. I'd scam his dumbest too if he let me
If it could be done they would have done it already 😂
You say "we" but are you actually taking action to stop scammers or are you just virtue signaling?
Nah, this is life's lessons. Lol. May the smartest man win.
please describe how in any plane of existence that could be a possibility?
with a brain cell you would see that its about people not sending their own money to people they never met,,
to say stop thieves is one thing that can be reduced, but they are not thieves,,,, people are willingly sending money to them by choice,, seriously bruh
