If you thought Diana's voice and vocal skills were something else in this performance . You really should react to her perform the folk song "Rechenka " . It's like listening to an encyclopedia of advanced vocal technique all in one song . It's spectacular and other worldly .

After listening to your expertise on Diana, I am thankful she is in Russia and had excellent voice teachers to cultivate her unique voice. Here, her talent would of been squashed and ridiculed because she doesnt sound like the rest of the cookie cutter voices.
Diana is classified a RARE class 3, Dark Contralto.
We are lucky to hear such a tribal, Primitive, etherial voice in our life time.

Welcome to the addiction that is listening to Diana (An ku DEE neva). Almost every time something of hers appears I listen-and in 65+ years of music appreciation I have never done that before. She is known as the Queen of Goosebumps and this song still does it to me after maybe 50 listens. I hope you enjoy your trip; there are many more Diana songs to hear.

Hi Jennifer - excellent reaction - however, Diana has much more to offer! Yes, she was 15 here and is now 17 - will be 18 on 31st May. The show she was competing on is called "You Are Super", designed to highlight the talents of disadvantaged children - Diana was abused by her birth mother & ended up in an orphanage aged 3 before being adopted - because she had difficulty speaking, it was suggested she attend singing classes to develop her speech - results, rather spectacular...
Diana appeared on "You Are Super" twice in 2018 & 2019 (the latter a "Grand Prix" season for previous winners & finalists) and won on both occasions. You might wish to look at "Rechenka" from 2018 aged 14 : th-cam.com/video/35Dwo4QVLqs/w-d-xo.html - even more impressive than "Wicked Game".
Diana is now studying at GITIS a prestigious dramatic arts college in Moscow (similar to RADA) and is also working on her first full album due this spring.

Diana had a very good voice coach but her coach died of covid 19 , Since then she started working with Brandon stone of the Brandon Stone Band and they are currently working on a album , the worked on to project prior to that , Her new music video( Into The Skies ) and By Your Voice original single which she sang live on stage with the Brandon Stone Band .

Great reaction, I'm subscribed! If you like stage presence and that tribal sound you should listen to Rechenka (The River) which she sang at 14. Diana does indeed use her voice as an instrument, especially in this performance.
It is based on an old Russian folksong about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.
Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning her speech was very undeveloped and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talents was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

She was born a contralto, it's not from [learning] vocal techniques, and she doesn't yodel, she does shamanistic chanting.

Diana’s voice is truly very interesting. It is incredible to consider her youth and current abilities. Her voice grows on me each time I hear her perform. Diana seems like the opposite to Dimash Kudaibergen as far as vocal style is concerned (although both are incredibly versatile!) - Dimash’s vocals are often light and heavenly, while Diana comes across as dark and earthy. Quite the contrast.

I think of her voice as shamanic. However that could be her stage presence as well. She tells a story and invites you in. For examples see her singing Rechenka (age 14), Human (age 16) or Derniere Danse (age unknown). She is 15 here and her story is a sad one of abuse and neglect until she is adopted and taught music to help her communicate. She is currently 17, I believe and headed to university for music.

You will need to watch Yodel Time video from another talent show which they did not even turn around but got a standing ovation from the audience. She uses yodeling techniques throughout most of her songs as you will see and know how it is she is able to transition so well in different ranges. Love your reaction🙏🏼🌹💕. She is one of two considered as a national treasure.

Good evening from Scotland! Oh how I love watching a proper vocal coach explaining what she is hearing accurately! No mean feat when what you are seeing and what you are hearing simply don't compute right? Now bear in mind these are purely MY words yeah? @ 8:10 you have a perfect view of a "Super Larynx" at work - she has immense vocal control and there is part of the secret - Diana was "Born to sing". So, here is 15yo Diana singing in an amazing Russian competition "You are Super" for abandoned/disadvantaged children because Diana spent some years in an orphanage when she was 3yo.
She is a dramatic contralto which is rare in females but exceptionally rare in someone so young! (And I don't know why I am telling you this because you already know?) :) :) Diana was born way over in the far eastern side of Russian in Arsenyev, about 160 kilometers northeast of Vladivostok. Her adoptive family moved to Togliatti, in western Russia near the Volga River to escape Diana's birth mum who continually bullied and harassed her. After Igor Krutoy (one of the judges here, last to press the button!) gifted Diana an apartment in Moscow, she moved there and still lives there!

Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 her family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2017 she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Diana sang 'Yodel-Time' th-cam.com/video/vKdvaWsd91Q/w-d-xo.html but none of the judges turned around but the whole audience gave 'standing ovation'. What happened? Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
A door had closed but a new door opened:
In 2018/19, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international competition instead of "You are Super", especially for adopted and orphaned children. The winner of the season (Diana) will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
Diana won also a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors and now, she is a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.
