One of the most impactive lyrics from any disturbed song is "the words we never said are the ones I most regret" that hit me right in the feelers. Not this song obviously but I don't recall the name at the moment.
I’ve looked into the lyrics of countless songs from all different genres. This song, however, has the best lyric writing i’ve ever seen and its one of my favorite songs in general.
Can we make amends, do we just pretend That we're over all the violence Are we done with this? Put it all to rest Turn the screams now into silence Will you be a man? Can you make a stand? Will you own up or deny it. All the time we lost, was it worth the cost Of breaking a family in two? Destroyed all we knew Tyrant, so defiant Lonely as your heart is sinking Consequences, no defenses If only you had been thinking Compliant, for a moment Why did both of us have to believe that we were right? Tyrant! Can I clear my mind? Leave it all behind Start to pick up all the pieces Can I hide the scars? Just like prison bars That have always seemed to confine me Will we save it all? Even from the fall Is there time left for revival? Can I be convinced that some hope exists? With these wounds cut so deep in my soul Can we become whole? Tyrant, so defiant Lonely as your heart is sinking Consequences, no defenses If only you had been thinking Compliant, for a moment Why did both of us have to believe that we were right? Tyrant! There's so many things that I wanted to say But the love turned to hate we kept pushing away And the words that came out turned it into a mess And it's like pulling teeth cause you'll never confess Now the damage is done The hurt and the pain when nobody has won Have we forgot it's your blood inside of my veins That feeds my heart Tyrant, so defiant Lonely as your heart is sinking Consequences, no defenses If only you had been thinking Compliant, for a moment Why did both of us have to believe that we were right? Tyrant!
Maybe it's just me. But this song is so damn emotional. My parents got divorced ages ago, but this song brings back so many memories. Great GREAT song.
When both sides refuse to admit they're wrong about something even when they are, or refuse to see that both are to blame to some extent, nothing good can come of it.

I am a Medical Doctor. Have listened to Disturbed ever since I was in Medical School. Been in practice 10 years and I still wake up and go to sleep with Disturbed songs blasting in my Bose Sub and speakers!! 👍🏼💪🏼
Doctor House That’s amazing. Recently I’ve been listening to their song Hell. Love the opening verse David sings on it. So groaty and full of intention.

@@bananaslug6097 You all aren't alone there. This, for the longest time was how my relationships and friendships were with everyone. If only I knew then what I know now.
Growing up until the age of probably about 20, my dad was a severe alcoholic. He never physically struck anyone or acted violent, until a night when he almost struck my brother during a bad argument. That was the beginning of a painful time up until he came back into my life and has been there every step of the way, so much so he even quit drinking. This used to be something I wanted to scream at him during these dark days. Thankfully it worked out for me, I hope it works out for everyone else that may feel fractured due to these types of situations..
This is one of those songs that I can find myself really relating to with the things I've gone through, on both sides of this song as well. I've fucked up in really bad ways with people and I've been fucked over badly with people. This song is just a bit of an ouch because of how well I can resonate with it

Listened to my father scream himself to death for two weeks from pancreatic cancer after bailing on me my entire life just to show up to offer me two weeks. Regardless of how they treat you that's your blood so grow up. Now when ever a rooster caws I freak out , but at least I live in Vegas only chickens you see walk up and down Tropicana.
I researched this song and I believe it is about there being two sides fighting over gun control. Both sides believe they are the absolute correct side and the lyrics say "why did both of us have to believe that we were right" "can we make amends?" "Could either of us have just been compliant for a moment?" He says "we're tearing this family in two" as in both sides absolutely cannot stand for eachother and their grudging opinions are splitting the country in two main hostile groups. Then considering name of the song and main line "A tyrant so defiant" Both sides consider each other defiant tyrants.
Pomegranate Pro that... is so incredibly wrong I'm genuinely lost for words.... it's not about guns, "it's your blood that fuels my heart"? It's obviously a fight between child and parent.
In an interview with David Draiman (I don't think I spelled that right), he said that the song was about his father who ripped off a piece of his garb (some Jewish tradition I believe), meaning that David was dead to him. The family began to fued and such, and all because David formed Disturbed
