Say what you will about Linda's keyboard chops. The fact that she played the intro to Venus and Mars straight off the bat during the opening of every concert on this tour, live in front of tens of thousands of people, speaks volumes about how capable and confident she was. Trust me, as a musician, that's terrifying. And she never faltered. Paul certainly must have been extremely proud of her.

The very best live performance from McCartney outside of the fab4 was with this Wings lineup. The music at the time was fresh the energy was strong and with Joe English Jimmy McCullough Denny Laine and Linda adding to Paul at his solo peak they were unstoppable. Thanks for sharing the full show 😂 ❤😂
The guitar solo to Maybe I'm Amazed is absolutely brilliant. Wee Jimmy plays it in concert, but Paul played it on the record. The amp is on the edge of feeding back. The tubes are red hot. You can hear it. Paul's solo on this track rivals the playing of Hendrix, Page, Beck, Clapton... or George Harrison. Brilliant solo. Absolutely brilliant. So concise. Paul is a phenomenal guitar player. And bass player. And piano player. And vocalist. And songwriter. And performer. What a truly remarkable man. It's astonishing. What a gift to humanity he is. Thanks, Macca! You've brought me so much joy. You've brought millions of us so much joy. And you're music will continue to do so for centuries. Know that.
It is nonetheless true that the Wings lead guitarists performed that magnificent solo far better than Paul did on his solo album. For my money, the definitive version of Maybe I'm Amazed is the one that that appeared on the Wings Over America triple LP. (I had the privilege and pleasure of seeing the UK leg of that world tour.) I also saw the final leg of the last tour that Wings ever played in which, to my enormous dismay, Steve broke a guitar within a few seconds of embarking on that classic solo! He did make a credible recovery but I really wanted to hear the solo performance rendered by a proper guitarist who could really do it justice.
Paul is turning 80 tomorrow, and we've already begun to celebrate it. Paul is one of my all time favorites, and I didn't even live in 60s-70s. I began to listen to the Beatles in 90s. Paul always symbolized good old stuff to me, something that was long long ago, something I missed out, something really good. But I'm so glad I can feel it thanks to his music. The music made by a happy man!

Just heard the live version of 'Maybe I'm Amazed' on the radio, and as soon as I heard the guitar solo, I knew it was Jimmy McCulloch. When the song ended, the DJ said it was from 1977. Jimmy's sound and style were so unique, I knew it could have only been him. He lives on in his guitar solos.....
Yeah. He tries and he is solid. Linda was his soulmate, and respect that! Yet he has enough love to keep trying and succeeding. A positive lesson, in my mind,!!

Personally, I think the most underrated fact from this era is that Paul…. Who literally was in the biggest band of all time even by today’s standards, decided to form another band…. That was an actual band. That had members that contributed, and quite well I might add to the collective. He very easily could have been just Paul McCartney… and he would have been as successful as he’d been. Nothing would have changed. But he let the band be the band and breathe. Like starting over altogether. Paul is the reason I am a musician now, and although I am a huge Beatles fan, it’s Wings that was responsible for me knowing that music was what I needed.
Denny & Billy go way back to the 60's when they worked together in the band The Diplomats. EMI Records still has under lock and key a complete unreleased studio album by the band, but it will probably never see the light of day for reasons of national security.
I got to see Wings for the only time on the next to the last show, back home in Los Angeles. It will be a night that i will never forget. The first of 4 times seeing him between 76 to 2002. I miss those fun days
Gave 110 percent, high energy throughout including guitar laced performance. Added bonus the ins and outs of sound checks. Added. up close and personal.Thank you for sharing
@@pianomansbird4095 well, no, in 1976. You really didn't have a way to film it. I suppose super 8 film. We didn't have that. Watch rock show. That is exactly the kick ass show I saw at capital centre.
I love the band all in close on that compact stage--somewhere in between a club and an arena event--much different from today's over-the-top spectaculars. The '76 American leg wasn't much different. I sat so close to Linda I could have raised my voice a bit and carried on a conversation with her!
I was just thrilled outta my mind to see Paul's tour in the USA - wings over America in 76. It was amazing. And tickets were $9.50 - that was high for concert tickets then. I'd seen George Harrison in '74. Sad his voice was so hoarse, and the Indian music-I mean I like Ravi Shankar, (and love his daughter, Nora Jones) but I came to see George, 1/2 of it was Ravi music. But this is awesome. Paul and Wings was incredible- just listen to Paul- voice is perfection !
I saw Wings in 1976 in San Francisco at the famous Cow Palace one of the greatest concerts on my life year earlier I also saw George Harrison too at same place but Wings was really more then a concert it was an experience of a lifetime!!!!!!!!!
Awesome fuggiing concert I love Magneto and Titanium man .....paul is a very talented piano improviser, quite underrated in terms of being overshadowed by the rest of his amazing talents

Sydney Myer Music Bowl,November 1975.Shot by ATV 0 Melbourne using RCA TK45 Camera's and TKP45 portable camera. Just a fantastic concert so pleased to have worked on it.
Pity this version does not include the credits. I worked on this show, and the video you see was a compilation of film material shot at all concerts in Australia, and two of the Melbourne concerts shot with television cameras. I was fortunate enough to spend 20 minutes with Paul in our recording van.
I love that you can see Linda with her long pretty fingers playing the keyboard and even adding a little rubato on Jet...also I find it a little interesting that Wings had a drummer named Joe English seen here and a drummer named Jeff Britain ..seems they had a theme going...all that fame and adulation unusually ended up producing a man with humility and all my respect to Linda who was also a very humble human being

I like this one better too i dont like it when they do overdubs on live concerts becouse its not a live concert anymore once the first overdub or vocal fix is done films of concerts should be release it the way it sounded when the concert was happening if i wanted to listen to a concert with over dubs and vocal fixes i would just lisen to the albums
I was in the crowd too - very close to a large speaker rack near the top of the hill. (Surprising that I can still hear) :-). I was only 15, and it was my first concert, so I was totally blown away. Good memories.

Did you shoot any footage?
Dam! Jimmy McCulloch is a bad ass guitar player! Rock on Jimmy!
+Jason Meza R.I.P.
Jimmy was awesome.
And is sorely missed....
He done well for a wee guy from clydebank
I love Jimmy. Too bad such a cool soul end up letting drugs take him. Such talent.
He looks and sounds delicious.
Salute to Wings and Thanks to JimmyMcCullochFan for posting. CHEERS!!! from the Philippines 11/2/2023
Gave 110 percent, high energy throughout including guitar laced performance. Added bonus the ins and outs of sound checks. Added. up close and personal.Thank you for sharing
This man was blessed with so many talents.
It's so unfair really, lol.
Ooh, Indeed He was! And still is!! ❤❤❤
I saw saw the wings over America tour the next year. It was awesome.
Did you shoot any footage?
@@pianomansbird4095 well, no, in 1976. You really didn't have a way to film it. I suppose super 8 film. We didn't have that. Watch rock show. That is exactly the kick ass show I saw at capital centre.
@@jeffreyholmes7216 thanks for replied to me .have a good day
Paul at his Best,Wings was a great band and a great step for paul's music!
I would have loved to see George and Paul in the 70's, what a great experience! I wasn't born until the 80's though :(
Awesome fuggiing concert I love Magneto and Titanium man .....paul is a very talented piano improviser, quite underrated in terms of being overshadowed by the rest of his amazing talents
the venus and mars/rockshow/jet medley is the greatest concert opener ever, especially the wings around the world version

I always listen to this during christmas night
Hi hi hi! Sounds so good, add that soaring guitar solo by Jimmy! Wasn't planning on lighting up today but made me remember that little jar of special stuff I keep around for making extra special days. Pretty special music and bit of very positive fun history so here it goes.... Cheers! "Going to get ....!"
as good as it can possibly get, the master of masters.
I was there. Great to see a video of the show after all these years.
Sydney Myer Music Bowl,November 1975.Shot by ATV 0 Melbourne using RCA TK45 Camera's and TKP45 portable camera. Just a fantastic concert so pleased to have worked on it.
Hi Barrie. Thanks for sharing your story. I was there at the Bowl in 1975. A sensational night.
I was sitting in a tree outside the fence around the music bowl - no view but the songs were just as good
how not to love this wonderful guy and Wings
This whole thing is just so excellent and beautiful. Paul backing up Denny on Spirits..... Sublime 🤗
Great music true genius would like to hear that stuff again
Quel superbe concert quel groupe Venus et Mars un album magnifique ❤
One of my favourite’s concerts of all time
the man of a thousand voices...James Paul McCartney...
+cesar merodio I thought he only had three- Little Richard, Fats Domino and Elvis.
+Just Sayin' 1985 ... Cher
exactly, he could sing hard, easy lovely spacey you name it
cesar merodio you are right. THE MAN OF A THOUSAND VOICES.
Billy Shepherd(Faul) is the man of a thousand voices. The real JPM only had one, and it was beautiful.
Paul, the coolest of the cool.
They were phenomenal!!
Medicine Jar and Go Now just fantastic. What a peak period for WINGS.
Go Now from Wings is great, Time to Hide also.
Wings are awsome!
And here we are 42 years on and better than ever!
well not really - never as good now as he was in 1976 = no way
Pity this version does not include the credits. I worked on this show, and the video you see was a compilation of film material shot at all concerts in Australia, and two of the Melbourne concerts shot with television cameras. I was fortunate enough to spend 20 minutes with Paul in our recording van.
Hollywood Foundry that’s amazing! Any cool stories of the tour and also hanging with Paul?
Love Let Me Roll it really captured the essence on live video.
you mean Billy.
20 minutes with who?
that is mad cool -the internet showing us amazing footage of years past & people coming forward who actually worked on it.
best concert I have seen
What I would have given to have been at these concerts.
Wow, he sounds great. In his total prime. Great stuff. Kind of like it with out the fan noise.
Absolutely agree!!! I believe that with Wings he showed his true vocal skills.
Wonderful, thanks for posting this concert!!! WINGS RULE!!!
PAUL MCCARTNEY YOUNG FULL OF ENERGY AND AMBITION 🎸
I love that you can see Linda with her long pretty fingers playing the keyboard and even adding a little rubato on Jet...also I find it a little interesting that Wings had a drummer named Joe English seen here and a drummer named Jeff Britain ..seems they had a theme going...all that fame and adulation unusually ended up producing a man with humility and all my respect to Linda who was also a very humble human being

Awesome Concert!, Thanks for Sharing
31:13-31:18is SOUL SQUEEZING HEAVEN ❤ Thank you Paul.
God you know i and my family have some family members in autralia but i never meet them...i just remember my grandfather talking to his brother out there when i was growing up and they would call each other all the time...protect them always..i remember the 1960s and 1970s my grandpa pavel. Cmr cmp
I dig this. The way they really sounded. Rock Show was sweetened up with overdubs.I prefer this.
Happy birthday 81 years young today 🎂🥳🥂
LINDA IS STILL IN MY HEART.
Good show thanks for sharing this 🎤🇫🇮
That is one hell of a drummer.
i saw paul in chicago in 1976...it was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
I was 18 in 1975 and I was there :)
I was in the crowd too - very close to a large speaker rack near the top of the hill. (Surprising that I can still hear) :-). I was only 15, and it was my first concert, so I was totally blown away. Good memories.
It was my 12th birthday present! My mom took me, but she died shortly after.
@@njgop1915 I was 23 at that time from England working my way around Australia , in Melbourne waiting on tables, not that night , I was there , now all those years later I live in Cairns
You have no idea how much I envy all of you people
@@njgop1915 such a great opportunity. Im sorry for your mother
The drummer is in the groove on jet wowee look at him
