"Fixing a Hole" really brings back the 60's and the memories. Paul is in fine voice and has a great bunch backin' him; tight band. Always loved this line up.
Mine too. I'm getting so irritated about Paul vs. Billy. I was a teenager when "Paul is dead" crap. This Paul here is the same guy prior to 1966. I think the group and their spouses joked around in public. One time they were at a premiere or something and Olivia Harrison said "Hello Billy" and Paul said hello with a little laugh. These are 4 guys who would do the silliest of things for their videos and movies. We are all witness to their crazy antics and we loved them for those antics.
Great. Macca clearly having a great time and his voice was in fine form. Great show! I saw him in Tampa stadium in 1990 or '91 and when he did Live And Let Die and the explosions went off, the whole sky lit up and the place went bat shit crazy...at show's end Paul thanked the city for letting him "Put on our little light show." Heh, you would have thought a war had broke out. Extremely dramatic. Feel honored to have seen him perform live.
It was fascinating to hear Paul McCartney do a different rendition of one of their old numbers, Can't Buy Me Love, in the style of an old Irish folk tune, with the picking style done by one of his other lead guitar players in this performance, and the accordion backing here, coming out of a segue from Michelle. It really shows his tremendous diversity to rearrange his own numbers and his mastery to be flexible. This is also shown quite a bit in the new Beatles documentary, Get Back. As McCartney shows his tremendous ability, with instantaneous songwriting abilities. There's a scene in one of the second or third parts of the documentary with Billy Preston on keyboards and their rehearsing one of John's future numbers for the Abbey Road album already, I Want You. McCartney is sitting in the middle of the studio with an electric base he's playing lap slide style. Everyone should see this rehearsal session. The others are all joining in and it's truly an experiment in jazz fusion style, with a lot of improvising which shows their ability to be great improvisational Jazz musicians as much as pop rock, classical, and so many other diversities of styles.
WOW!!! One of his best live concerts, possibly even his most creative! New takes on old songs, just stunning. PAUL at his peak. But then again, he was always peaking. Yet another peak! And his band was a fabulous group of musicians in their own rights!
Check out his live in Quebec 2008 if possible the audience is huge and Macca and band are on fire. I seen him in Sydney Australia in 2017 and he was bouncing around like a 30 year old, some of his great classics had grown men in tears.
Me & my Beloved husband got married in 1969. We first saw Paul McCartney live in Wings with their Band on the Run tour. We thought it was so awesome that he put his Beloved Wife Linda in his Band. And that they took their children with them on tour. I have never seen this concert before. Thank you for posting it. It's another wonderful concert. Thank God the audience was quiet so we & they could hear themselves play. So different than when the Beatles played the Ed Sullivan show in 1964.
This is just amazing. He can do it all, he has done it all! So many people just do not know how utterly immersed he is in music, how much he loves to play He is a consummate musician, second to none. What a career.
One of the great composers of the 20th Century. A very good not great singer. As a guitar player he has a major impact on the rock bass. But people like Prince and Stevie Wonder are better overall musicians.
Ditto Greg!, and @Billodnh, you had me then you lost me. You may be a consumate rock music critic, second to none, but my ears know which records I want to reach for and listen to over and over. There can only be one 'Beatles'. They led -- everything else followed and was influenced by them. They invented sound that everyone else copied, and you can't take that away from Paul. Not only a great composer, but innovator as well.
With The Beatles Paul had a little help from his friends. He's a very good musician but he is not Itzhak Perlman or Jimi Hendrix. But they could not write a pop song like Paul. He was an innovator on rock bass as I implied. But he is not say Jaco Pastorius. Paul's genius, yes the word is appropriate, is in his writing. But I'm confident that Paul would point out the many jazz musicians who can play rings around him. It's one thing to be an appreciative fan and another to be a syncophant.
you must be an ass Billodnh? Only a dick would draw a comparison between Paul and Jaco OR EVEN THINK OF SUCH A RIDICULOUS COMPARISON. Why not just acknowledge a given artist for the innovations they may provide. Paul was a song writer.....everything else he did on the bass and even vocally was secondary to his contributions as a songwriter. Very few musicians make truly unique contributions......Paul may be one as a versatile songwriter, possibly Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, Hubert Laws, Perlman, Miles, Charlie, Herbie.......frankly 99% of all musicians no matter how famous they are made a career doing something they stole from someone else.

Why does everybody have to rate musical greats with other musical greats? None of them are in competition and often play on the same albums or on stage together. But there's always somebody who says this guitar player is better than that one, or singer sounded better in his younger years. Paul and the Beatles were so innovative in what they did for pop music and very innovative because of what they did in the studio. Some will say it wasn't them as much as it was George Martin, but he only made the ideas they had work. Same with the engineers. John would say he wanted his voice to sound like it was under water and they came up with a way to do it. The thing is, things like that changed how the recording process was done. Paul said they wanted every song to sound unique. Most bands have a certain sound but not the Beatles. Each song had it's own sound. Paul and John wrote over nearly 400 songs together, in their years together. They also each wrote their own songs after the Beatles broke up. For the most part, they kept the same unique style going, giving each song it's own identity and sound. These unique sounds became a Beatles trademark. Musicians will tell you they were watching Ed Sullivan when the Beatles were on and that made them want to be musicians. I was one of those. I think you can safely say any of the present great musicians of today can say the same thing. The Beatles brought a different style of music to life and it stirred the urge in several thousand kids to be like them. I can mention many great musicians in great bands who credit the Beatles for getting them into music. Members of Kansas, Transatlantic and Flying Colors, the Eagles and on and on. If you were to ask most any musician today, under the age of 65 or so, they were in front of their TV set watching the Beatles. Those who are quite a bit younger than that still have benefited from the Beatles, in the studio and in instrumentation of songs, and even harmonies. Pop music as a whole owes an awful lot to the Beatles as a group and as individuals. Singularly, they all went out and made their own mark after the Beatles, in one way or another. They took their fans with them and created even more musicians out of many of them. So, I don't care who can sound better at bass than Paul, or sing better. Both of those are opinions and everybody has one. Music is that way. Everybody has likes and dislikes and that's OK. But you don't go around saying one guy is better than the other, because he's not better...he's just different. Paul has been doing what he does for many years. God willing, he'll be doing it for many more. In the process, he'll be gaining more young fans who have never heard of the Beatles and maybe they will want to be a musician after hearing one of his songs. I don't care how good someone else is at playing an instrument. If you can inspire someone to be a musician just by playing music yourself, that's a very special skill to have. Just count the musicians the Beatles have inspired, or the ones Paul has inspired. So, not only do we have Paul's music to listen to, we also have the music of all of those he inspired. Now if that isn't a wonderful legacy, I don't know what is. Thank you Paul, for inspiring me that night in 1964, on the Ed Sullivan stage with John, George and Ringo. I'll be forever grateful for my ability to play and write music. I might have done it on my own, if I hadn't heard you play, but maybe not. I shudder to think how my life would have been, without music.
The best McCartney band. Robbie McIntosh is such a delight to listen to. Hamish Stuart is a perfect all around musician and a truly great singer. Wix...!

I think he saved the best for last. Few singers have the legacy. Even better is he is doing his 50 years after the Beatles were brought to this country
@@javiervelasco7143 Hey Javier, guess what. Lennon (of Lennon-McCartney) crawled on his hands and knees every single night begging and pleading McCartney (of Lennon-McCartney) for just a taste, just a morsel of his delicious feet (John Lennon (Of Lennon-McCartney) had a foot fetish. I find feet disgusting, but I agree on the count of McCartney (of Lennon-McCartney)'s feet because they are the only ones I would actively beg to get a morsel of). There was nobody more cucked for McCartney than Lennon (of Lennon McCartney), you better believe it. In the 70s, he thought they were connected on a spiritual level and visited one another in dreams. Now THAT's what I call cucked. That is why it is so funny. When the likes of you... david bailey, phillip norman, and countless others, shaft McCartney for his cuckhold friend John (Lennon, of Lennon-McCartney), when the truth is, Lennon was the biggest McCuntney cuck the world has ever seen. And I would know, being the second. I also hate McCartney and his music like nobody's buisness, and yet here I am, listening to it over and over, watching mind numbing 40+minute raw footage interviews, hating every second of it, all because I am a big fat fucking cuck. (Like John Lennon (of Lennon-McCartney).
Paul is simply the GOAT. Had the privilege of seeing him live a few years ago and it was easy to see he still very much loves performing and making people happy. May God continue to bless him with a long, healthy, happy life.
When you are 50 and you can still "rock" a mullet, that is pretty cool. IMO nobody does 50's rock better than McCartney and his album of 50's songs years later was great. Really enjoyed the songs from "Off The Ground" album.
Great show! Guns and Roses had just covered "Live and let die" back then and they did a great job but I still always prefer the original version, Paul's amazing!
Boy I could watch this stuff all day and night. McCartney is the Melody Maestro. Up close and personal is the best way to see him. Love It Glenn Augustyn

@@justiceforjamespaulmccartney .... Har Har Har!... Okay, well I'm going with 'No Matter What'.... an excellent song recorded by Badfinger, the band that Willy Shears Campbell, no doubt, signed to Apple records. Oh, by the way, please supply me with a list ofevery person, I mean EVERY person who would have to agree to cover this macabre death up, starting with every family member of every Beatle. Let's see this list of co-conspirators. That should give you about two years worth of homework. Interesting, isn't it, how Jane Asher would have to agree to sleep with Paul before 1966, and lucky Mr. Campbell after.... n'est-ce pas? And her brother Peter went right along with it?... so there's your 'no matter what', for starters. Change my mind.
I was at this show (or one of them - there were 2 shows on consecutive nights). It was quite an experience. Managed to meet Paul briefly afterward and get his autograph. Already a long time ago!
How can anybody not believe MACCA is the best musician ever ! Diversity of songs ! Instruments he plays ! Words and music ! Not even the classical composers can match that ! and I mean NONE ! Oh and yes he performs his vast array to the masses throughout the world from the UK USA Australia All of Europe Russia Peru Mexico Et Al I rest my case !
Most composers did not write their own words (libretto) to their operas-Wagner is the only one I can think of who did. Paul sings the songs, plays many instruments, writes the words AND the music. Such a rare and wonderful multi-talent!
Yep, twas 20 Flight Rock, by Eddie Cochran, played to John, that secured Paul's spot in The Quarrymen. The rest is history! John knew what he was doing. 😎
the best he can still sing live i saw him in san diego if he rests a while between concerts his voice still sounds great that night in san diego he was amazing , and i was very impressed, he sings in a high register and this is sure hard over the years, but i heard paul live in 1976 and in 2015 in san diego he did not miss a beat
I’m having a sense of deja vue, too, because I saw The Beatles perform for the first time on The Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964, which happened to be my 12th birthday. The two minutes it took The Fab Four to sing “All My Loving” was long enough for me to fall in love with them for a lifetime. I saw The Beatles in concert in 1965, and I’ve seen Paul McCartney four times. Seeing The Beatles was thrilling, and so was seeing Paul on his own. He puts on a terrific show. Love them still.
Linda gets credit for keeping Paul going when he was in depression after the break up of the Beatles and giving him four children. For that alone we owe her a debt of gratitude. My wife heard recording tapes of the Wings where the track of Linda singing showed she was off key compared to the other singers. What do I care. She kept Paul going. Paul to his credit kept going after losing Linda.
@MorbidManMusic The Beatles were one and still are the biggest band in history. Paul McCartney is the most well known musician and his career continues into his late 70s. Paul McCartney is the greatest musician of all time, his music has changed music history!

@@jamiemiddleditch1999 Are you really saying that PM is greater than Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Vivaldi, Puccini, Paganini, Verdi, Rossini, Chopin, Brahms, Elgar, Wagner, Mascagni, Gershwin, Django, Coltrane etc...? Look, I really enjoy pop music, I had my beatles phase and I still love to play their songs; I really love it, but the history of music is way bigger than Paul McCartney, believe me. Wow---absolutely one of the best video bits of Sir Paul in a live performance. Amazing how the Sullivan Theater looks so different between his first appearance there and then when it became Letterman's home. What a delight seeing Paul at 50 so active and very much the ultimate musician and performer. So I am totally smitten by the make up artist---she's simply gorgeous. Does anyone know who she is and what she's up to these days? She has to have good memories of those two nights. Thanks for sharing this video!
It's good and not current. Linda lives. Not yet had he lost her no heartache then wasn't road blocking his creative path. With, or without Linda, or his deceased play pal John, Paul slid through time and musical marathoning as though both Brian Epstein, and George Martin weren't dead having secretly joined in waving at Paul and this lineup in greatness with their approval🏅🎧🎤🎸 saying you still got it, your 🆗 Paul... As he bass strums beating his heart and strumming strings grooving away with percussion upkeep... Smiling more intently bringing sound to those lying in the ground but draws up energy to invite dwellers of the grave to one more time entertain those who helped to make his way... we salute you Sir Paul McCartney !!!
He put out a live album about this same time with all these same songs on it. Fantastic. I had it on casete. Played it so much until the tape broke. I was taping it back together for years with missing parts.......Loved it....
I was at this show on the floor right in front of the stage. Yes, it was a dream of a lifetime for me. My wife said I was in a 2 hour trance and if the place had burned down I wouldn't have noticed! She was right.
Michelle is sung and played very well here. Some music critics have bashed this great song but I always liked it a lot. It has a simple beautiful melody. I also find the folky rendition of "Can't Buy Me Love" very different and interesting. Paul was the most musical of The Beatles and music comes so easily to him that it is easy for some to dismiss his huge talent.
+James Dunn Music Critics...sigh. People who make a living having opinions while contributing NOTHING to the world of art and creativity. I agree with your comments on how Paul's talent is so {seemingly) effortless that it is easy to take it for granted. I for one am thankful to have lived in his generation and to have been blessed with his music as a soundtrack of my life.
Scott Reed I have read here and there, but not everywhere ; ), some critics think the "Michelle" is sung in a self conscious voice by Paul and the song is not among the Beatles best. Sorry I cannot name sources.
Believe it or not, Rolling Stone magazine have changed their opinion of the Beatles over the decades. I have their 1975 Rock 'n Roll History that states that Michele is the only weak track on Rubber Soul. But that's nothin' -- It also states that the Beatles were not among the true titans of rock. They claim that title belongs to Dylan and the Stones.

Yes! Paul McCartney is the greatest musician of all time!! :D And a very nice and kindly person too!!
"Fixing a Hole" really brings back the 60's and the memories. Paul is in fine voice and has a great bunch backin' him; tight band. Always loved this line up.
Paul has been my favorite entertainer for over 50 years, and he's still rocking!! Will always love you Paul
WOW
Seriously good musicianship. Tight, fun, and well rehearsed. Yep, love me some Paul also.
Still rocking ? Et on se voit bientôt ?
I truly agree with all my heart. I Love you Paul and I always will...God Bless you and keep you safe for many years to come ❤

Macca, please try playing

Try to play Lady Madonna's piano part singing like that!! He's a real musician through and through. Period.
my #1 idol till now.paul mccartney.god bless
I really want to see that doccuseries

One of the many reasons I like Paul so much is that he makes all kinds of music in fact the best musician in the word ❤️🎸
What else can you say??....Amazing!!! Paul
WOW!!! One of his best live concerts, possibly even his most creative! New takes on old songs, just stunning. PAUL at his peak. But then again, he was always peaking. Yet another peak! And his band was a fabulous group of musicians in their own rights!
I come back to this concert often, it’s so great. Thank goodness for TH-cam!

You are absolutely right, and expressed so well the sentiments of millions out there!

Because they're not musicians.

No he is not,Lennon is the best

When you are 50 and you can still "rock" a mullet, that is pretty cool. IMO nobody does 50's rock better than McCartney and his album of 50's songs years later was great. Really enjoyed the songs from "Off The Ground" album.

And damn good looking too!
Most composers did not write their own words (libretto) to their operas-Wagner is the only one I can think of who did. Paul sings the songs, plays many instruments, writes the words AND the music. Such a rare and wonderful multi-talent!
The first song is what he sung to John the first time he met him and what convinced John that Paul should be in the group. We owe so much to it tbh
Thanks for pointing that out! That had slipped by me.
Yep, twas 20 Flight Rock, by Eddie Cochran, played to John, that secured Paul's spot in The Quarrymen. The rest is history! John knew what he was doing. 😎
Love to see 1990’s Macca and the lovely Linda

Did Paul mention Ian Stewart on Keyboards ? Stewart was Rolling Stones piano players for years ( shadow player ) on stage and recording studio

Linda McCartney i think was under rated and i always thought her backups were great especially in wings. RIP Linda you were awesome.
Paul was grateful with her since the beginning...he composed : "Maybe I'm amazed " for Linda.
Linda had no clue of what was she doing, she didn't know anything about music. Paul told it himself in an interview
Dude, to be honest she sucks lol, she was a good wife though

+Keith Shauger Yes. Well said!
What music critics? I've never seen negative remarks about "Michelle."
