    Never thought she would become a science teacher! That’s dope that she’s following her passions, going a route no one would guess (at least not the public, I’m sure her family knew she was into science lol)

    Apparently, magenta doesn't exist on the visible light spectrum and is just a color our brain creates.

    • @MonsterPrincessLala
      @MonsterPrincessLala ปีที่แล้ว

      Magenta is a pigment not a wavelength. As light it's a variety of red and blue. Like how you are a real person irl and an entitled buffoon online.

      I remember learning about this. It’s because blue and red are on opposite ends of the color spectrum, so in order to connect the 2 ends in a circle, we “combined” what we imagine the 2 would look like together, and I think it contains both competing wavelengths at once?

    Trying to imagine a new color takes me to iridescence in outer space. I am one of the lucky few with extra rods or cones, the extra ones see flourescent red, so lots of red things are very noticeable to me, and red is my favorite color because its so interesting this way.

    I think different shades are pretty cool to imagine like clothes or cars or items I have never seen in certain colors .. but it’s interesting how people view colors that are mixed like sea green but most people call it aqua or blue. pretty cool video

    • @HolographicCathawk
      @HolographicCathawk ปีที่แล้ว

      I always thought that was just people being lazy. However some cultures don't have a word for blue and if they do it's one color not a million shades. Language in many ways defines our parameters for description. If you don't have a word for purple you might call it blue.

    We technically can’t think of another color because of our limited photo-receptors. We can only see what our photo-receptors can pick up on. Magenta does exist, but only because it contains a mixture of different colors that we can see. Cones are shaped like cones to gather as much light as possible, whilst rods are smaller and more narrow for picking up on lower light levels.
    Other animals and bugs can see colors we CAN’T. Science is crazy.

    There are people with tetrachromacy who can see more colors than average because they have four types of cones.

    I see videos saying every color we see is just a combination of 3 colors but according to my research this isn't true in the SLIGHTEST!!! We do not see 3 colors that make up all other colors that is an over simplified explanation that makes zero sense!!! We don't have red cones green cones and blue cones, we have long cones medium cones and short cones, it may be true that when cones overlap they give stronger signals than one cone type by itself would but red cones and green cones don't make yellow rather both cones are sensitive to yellow and this is why they both are stimulated when seeing yellow.
    An animals range is what determines how well it sees color and mantis shrimp just have a bunch of cones that overlap in the same visible spectrum we see which actually makes their color vision pretty good for hunting but far worse in comparison to our own. I also hate how many videos ask a question in the form of the assumption that we can't imagine new colors.
    Noone seems to have imagined new colors but we don't know this for sure. Even if the cones we already have where mildly wider in sensitivity we could have vision as expected by a Tetrachromat despite being Trichromatic. Also it's possible that our blue cone without natural lenses sees what birds see with this so called ''4th ultraviolet cone'' As a matter of fact a birds so called ''blue cone'' is closer to where we see cyan than blue and our so called blue cone is right between their blue and ultraviolet cones.
    Farther more its been said by certain science that our ''so-called blue cone'' after cataract surgery may actually be even more sensitive to ultraviolet than any other light.
    So it's very possible birds see ALMOST NOTHING we don't see.

    • @nielskorpel8860
      @nielskorpel8860 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These three comes are roughly called red, green and blue because of the wavelengths in which they are most sensitive; the sensitivity curve peaks there. Or rather, since we are using the labels 'red', 'green', and 'blue' because those are the colors you see if whatever wavelengths stimulates only one of the cones.
      At least that is my understanding of it.
      I wonder whether people with synestesia can experience new colours. Since these experiences of associated colour are somewhat involuntary, maybe they need not be bound by the limits of the eye.

    • @jamesworley9888
      @jamesworley9888 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nielskorpel8860 I feel like Humans would have to somehow be able to imagine UV even if they can't see it because our visual cortex is more advanced than any animal.

    • @nielskorpel8860
      @nielskorpel8860 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jamesworley9888 if we can see UV only with our 'blue' cone, and only after cataract surgery, I'd suspect we'd just see that as blue.
      After all, that is how our brain would interpret the signal from that cone.
      Although it might be a strikingly intense blue, due to the high UV sensitivity drowning out other colours in the mix. We do sometimes experience striking colours that we can technically see already, even though we might not encounter them often.
