Your friends ain’t your friends if they tempt you or encourage bad behavior, Espically if you’re a beginner. Either they die, or they will never ride with you again & possibly scare them off thinking that’s normal.

I know talking about safety and telling people to be careful won't be popular with everybody and could cause you to lose some followers. However riders are legit killing themselves on the roads in greater numbers than ever. I think your messages about high speeds belonging on the track are 100% what needs to be said. Thank you for the continued safety talks!

that's the internet's fault, it leads to idiots flocking towards things that they just never would before.

The slow press and roll needs to be modified to tip in wide, tip in deep and decelerate till you see the exit and people would stop picking dumb lines and trying to guess their entry speed. There are too many influencers willing to praise trail braking without adapting it to the street by combining it with a line and lean angle suitable for the street. The fact is that people are trying to maximize lean angle when they shouldn't really worry about it till they can feel themselves following the front tire into an apex intuitively and that takes surviving for a while.

I had a big ole riding group that was like that when I rode my ducati monster 695, some of them had liter bikes and 600's and were so inconsiderate to less performance oriented bikes and even the homies on cbr300's! I was always the guy in the back with the beginners checking up on them and making them feel like they weren't left behind. One day I cruised with a katana 600 and a daytona 955i and they were doing 120 on a 65 so I just waved and rode my own ride. I kept riding with the group for a while but as soon as they got too rowdy I'd pull away. After my ducati got stolen I decided that whenever I got back on the streets I was gonna ride solo, cause even though that ducati could do 135 I wasn't comfortable going that fast and its not worth it to get arrested or splattered for trying to look good. Ride your own ride my dudes.

If you have some miles/kms on you and got your fundamentals in order I do think you can make a step up to the Ninja 400. I think that'll give you a nice upgrade since your familiar with that platform and the 400 spec wise is a tad faster especially on torque. But if you have good control and can contain your throttle discipline you can go to whatever.

Don't try and keep up with anyone. Ever. If you're out with others ride at your pace, have fun. They'll wait for you at the next intersection or turn. If they don't, F*** them. Riding out of your skill set is easy for a beginner to do. Just because u hit 120mph doesn't mean u can ride. It means absolutely nothing. Anyone can do that. Take it slow. And ride your ride. If u find your self question IF you should bro something.. Don't you aren't ready. &Always think what if. (Example) "what if a kid runs out in the street if I'm going this speed " apply that concept to riding.

That may sound fun, but it isnt. imo 600s are so smooth that you are constantly pushed to rev to the moon to feel the shove of horsepower whereas the Ninja's twin can be played with at much lower speeds 😁 i would happily trade my 600 for a Ninja 400 if they just gave it a nicer dash

Surviving on the street 101. It's not a track. You have to have tire left for braking. I've had to stop for a cow, deer, scrub speed for gravel and sand. Don't guess your entry speed. It's not a track and you don't have braking markers to dial it in. Stay wide and turn in late and deep as possible for vision and to have a sharper line toward apex. Decelerate as you tip in and once you've arrived at the lean are comfortable with then modulate and maintain throttle. Don't get on the throttle until the exit is clear and you are decreasing lean angle. If the exit isn't clear you should have tire left for line adjustments if the radius changes. It's just not a race track and if you try and maximize speed and lean instead of holding to this type of line you'll eventually find 90° I've ridden hundreds of thousands of miles all over east TX twisties for over 15 years. It's a fun sport but it doesn't have to be a death sentence.

How much the unpredictability, navigating the limits, curves, road hazards, and other people makes being a fast boi not fun and dangerous. As a beginner watching these videos it has made me not feel like a loser for not wanting to hit triple digits or have a bike over 750-800(for cruisers or standards, I would probably never get a sport or naked over 600, I’m a scenic route kinda guy, not a straightaway rocketboi,😂)

Sure the liter bike is faster in the straights. Besides the heavy liter bike in the corners. Most liter bike riders do not corner well out on the street. Reason why they have a liter bike. To make up for their lack of riding skill.

If you still have some margin of error on each turn (as you should be) the weight differences between the two won’t take effect and both bikes will corner at the same speed. It isn’t until you start pushing the last couple % in the corner when you use that little bit of extra margin that a lighter bike can give in a corner.
Also I’d make the assumption that a liter bike generally has nicer suspension and tires and overall chassis tuning than a smaller bike. The weight difference isn’t as big as you make it seem, too, unless you compare opposite extremes.
Unless the roads you ride are perfect S- turns with no acceleration in between then the liter bike will more than make up for any insignificant lack of speed in the corners by blasting away between turns.

@@Chevsilverado I have been riding since I was 6 in the dirt. Now 60, do the math. When the FZ600 came out in 1986, the ninjas could not touch it in the corners, even though it was 55 hp stock. Anywhere from 75 to 100 pounds difference.
Granted the modern bikes do not have as much of a weight difference as back then. Nevertheless heavier bikes simply cannot corner as fast.
I will reiterate. Look up the difference in cornering speed of the various gp bike classes. It has been that way for a long time. Full lap times of the 250 class is nearly as fast as the open class. Cornering speeds faster.
On a tight twisty road. A liter bike is a handful in comparison to a smaller bike. In fact you cannot use all the available power with a liter bike. I have had numerous of both over the years.
One reason why all the rider aids have come about. The kind of hp they are producing now. Is simply not usable on public roads. Not safely anyways.
Finesse will beat out brute force in tight curvy circumstances on public roads. Which is where 99% of riders ride. While the larger majority of riders despite their overconfidence. Are not the second coming of Kenny Roberts like they think they are on their heavy ninja.

    • @mhoeij

I would say whatever rpm your peak power is. Doesn’t really do any good to rev it past wherever your peak is cuz you’re losing acceleration at that point. If you can find a dyno chart for your bike it’ll show exactly what rpm it hits peak power

    • @dgphi
      @dgphi ปีที่แล้ว

With more revs you get more power, more noise, and higher fuel consumption.
With less revs you get less power, less noise, and lower fuel consumption.

@@Sp4cecowbyWhen riding hard shift at a higher RPM because there’s much more power there. When just putting around town shift earlier to save gas and not be obnoxious.
However if you constantly shift really early and keep your engine RPM below like 4500, you can actually be stressing your engine. Same is true if you bang it off of redline all the time.
On a ninja 400 I believe peak power is just before redline and then goes flat, so if you’re trying to accelerate the fastest shift right at redline and it’ll give you the best acceleration.
Eventually you just ride to how the bike feels. How it sounds, if it’s bogging down, etc. there’s no set numbers to follow because it’s always different in different situations.

It depends on what kind of control over yourself you have. I bought an FZ09 as my first. Some would have you believe that's a stupid bike to get as a first, but I kept control of myself and I realized my limits. 3 seasons in and I haven't felt like I've outgrown the bike and need a bigger one. With rider modes and different aids, you can unlock bikes now as you grow.
But it takes some real self reflection. Do you trust yourself not to be a fool while you grow into the bike? You have to be honest with yourself...

On the track, there's a big and almost unsurmountable difference between 400 and supersport bikes, but virtually no gap between supersport bikes of, say 600 and 1000. But, yeah, if you're doing a trackday and you're on a supersport of any sort (even the R7) then those 400cc bikes are just moving obstacles. It's not just the weight/power but the ability of supersport bikes to turn every turn into a fast sweeper.
