    Hi and welcome to the channel
    In this video we install our Fiamma F80s awning with a standard installation kit, we have some help from a local firm who cut us some stainless steel spreader plates, it then just a matter of installing all the pieces roping in an unsuspecting volunteer and the jobs a good one! have a look and tell us what you think in the comments

    * Please note you need to call Magnum if you intend to fit your awning on to unit strut as this kit includes the Sprinter/Crafter bracket and not the standard bracket kit that you will need *

    Watched your video, I have my panels in the same position except I can’t move mine so have to try and work out how to get the bracket under the panel, either that or get a f45s. Just don’t like the way they stick up. Is it possible to send you a photo of the bracket because if I can fit it around my panel I may be in luck.

    Yet another video where im stealing exactly your idea.
    Trying to get my roof sorted this summer, rack, awning, Maxxfan and solar.
    For the awning, reading the comments for details, have i got this right?
    1) Fiamma F80, best for flat roof mounting.
    (seems the F65 is for wall mounting on coach built motorhomes)
    2) Get standard flat brackets.
    (If they dont come with the basic awning.
    3) Make up stainless steal plates.
    4) Comes with van side mounts, just fit with sealant.
    Keep up the good work and cutting the furrow fir the rest to follow!

    • @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife
      @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife  ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife I'm heading off to the local metal fabricators soon. Reading the comments I can see you've used 5mm thick stainless steel plates to fit your awning with the standard flat Fiamma brackets. Can you remember off the top of your head the dimensions of your steel plates?

    Hello,
    I started with Video #1 and got this far (#38) in just a few days. I have a 2014 MB Sprinter 170 Extended High Roof and am installing a roof rack real soon. In your roof rack install video you only put 3 meters of unistrut on each side but in this video it is extended forward.
    Can I ask how long is your base Unistrut and how wide are your cross supports for the solar panels. I am going to start with the large unistrut and was thinking of going 14' long. I think I can do that before the front clip rolls downwards. Do you agree? I will find unistrut in Florida soon and begin my install, I do have to remove my headliner firsts and maybe even leave it out and use paneling to finish the roof and sides, as you did.

      @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Bill you spotted my mistake 😁👍 I never considered that the awning would need some support I would suggest fitting a longer 4mtr section if you have the opportunity
      I'm actually extending mine again as I've jus purchased a 52" light bar for above the cab area
      I believe the distance is 1350mm between the uni strut for the solar I would need to measure it to be sure
      We have a Facebook group called The Crafty Blinders Van Builds if you need any advice or want a quicker response we have a few expert seasoned van builders on their to help 😁👍

      Here unistrut is sold in 10 foot sections and I plan on using 14 feet (4.25meters) and using the other 6 feet as a cross brace. I think that will work fine and can be adjusted in time as I experiment with it.

    Just watched your excellent video. Are the brackets a set distance in from the ends of the awning or is this flexible. Reason I'm asking is I want to get the 3.7mts awning but only have a 3mt unistrut on the roof. Therefore I would need to have the brackets 350mm in from the ends. Do you think that is possible . Also what size are your spreader plates please. Thanks in advance

    • @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife
      @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is room for adjustment,
      I'm sure you will be able to move them where you need them
      As for the plates there are the same size as the brackets I think tge 3.7mtr awning bracket a slightly smaller to be honest

    another super video Sam , i'm doing my own conversion atm and have in the last hr discovered that an awning is now required by the DVLA when changing from a panel van to a motor caravan so am now over a grand poorer :S , btw i see the legs are attached to the side of your van rather than resting on the ground, is that the way the F80s is designed or are you able to place the legs in either the ground or the van side ?

    • @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife
      @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife  ปีที่แล้ว
